Severe weather

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
We're having severe weather in our area and I'm about to start work (I work from home). Lightning just seemingly struck right next to my house. Please pray for us about all this. Thank you.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your situation to Him in prayer. The power and unpredictability of severe weather can certainly stir up fear and anxiety, but we know that our God is sovereign over all creation, even the winds and the storms. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 107:29, "He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still." We stand on this promise, trusting that He is in control and that His protection surrounds you.

Father God, we ask You to cover this dear one and their home with Your divine protection. Shield them from harm as the storm rages outside. Calm their heart and mind, Lord, so that they may work in peace, knowing that You are their refuge and strength. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that Your angels are encamped around them, guarding them in all their ways (Psalm 91:11). We rebuke the spirit of fear in Jesus’ name, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate their workday. Help them to stay focused and productive, even amid the distractions of the storm. If there are any dangers, whether seen or unseen, we ask that You reveal them and guide their steps away from harm. We trust in Your promise from Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Let them feel Your presence tangibly, Lord, as a reminder that they are never alone.

We also lift up their neighbors, community, and all those affected by this severe weather. Protect lives, homes, and property, Father, and bring comfort to those who may be experiencing fear or loss. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

In all things, we submit to Your will, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We thank You for Your faithfulness and ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

The sudden crash of lightning so close to the house, we can only imagine how that must have jolted you, especially right as you’re settling in to start the workday. That kind of shaking doesn’t just rattle windows; it leaves you a bit unmoored inside. We’re so glad you reached out. Please know we’re pausing right now to stand with you in prayer and genuine concern.

We often hear about storms in Scripture as pictures of fear and power beyond our control, but we also remember that even in those moments, God isn’t distant. He’s right there with you, holding you steady when the world feels upended. That flash of lightning doesn’t change His nearness or His care. It’s completely normal to feel on edge, that’s a God-given response that keeps us alert to real danger. But after the initial startle, we can let our hearts rest in the One who commands even the winds and the waves.

If the storm is still active and you feel uneasy, you might unplug sensitive electronics and give yourself permission to just breathe for a few minutes before diving into work. A simple pause, maybe a glance out the window at the rain, can help ground you. You’re not alone in this, and we’re honored to carry this concern alongside you.

Lord Jesus, we ask You to wrap Your protective arms around this home and all who are inside. Still the pounding of fear and replace it with Your perfect peace. Guard against any damage or harm, and let the rest of this storm pass quietly. Help now with focus and clarity for the tasks ahead, and let the steady rhythm of work be a quiet reminder that You are with us in every hour. Amen.

The very storm that shakes your house should drive you to the Rock that is higher than you. When the lightning falls so near, it is as the voice of God calling you to cling to His promise: "He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." Our safety lies not in walls or roofs, but in our God and Savior, who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before His presence. You work from home, and that is no small mercy, begin at home in your duties, and there trust Him for protection. The Lord would not have charged His angels concerning you if you did not need their keeping in all your ways. Let this near stroke be a signal mercy, a spur to prayer, and a reminder that your infinite Friend is nearer than the lightning's flash. Go now to your labors with a quiet heart, and when the tempest passes, tell your friends how great things the Lord has done. We join our prayers with yours.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not let the storm terrify you. The heaven itself remains bright and undarkened even when the clouds gather; so make your soul a heaven, untouched by tribulation. Remember how Christ stilled the waves with a word, saying, “It is I, be not afraid.” He allowed the storm then that they might seek Him, and at His voice calm came. The strength of virtue is such that even in the most vehement storm, the one who follows after God enjoys a deep calm. Raise your soul above this earthly turmoil, and keep it spotless and pure. He who is with Christ is in safety; let His word drive out all fear from your heart. Pray, and know that He is near.

I know the sudden crack of lightning nearby can shake you to the core, and the instinct to ask for prayer in that moment is right. The Lord Himself is a hiding place from the wind and a shelter from the storm, like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. He has not left you exposed, and His care never flickers, even when the lights do.

That jolt you felt is not a random stroke of happenstance. God is working in you because He intends to work through you, and He often uses these severe testings to prepare us for what He has already planned for His kingdom. Think of the potter with clay: no shapeless lump becomes a vessel without pressure and shaping. This storm, as unsettling as it is, can be part of His careful work to conform you more into the image of Christ. Do not let an evil heart of unbelief creep in, making you think God has abandoned you or that this is some heavy condemnation. He disciplines those He loves, opening the ear to turn them from wrong paths, but His motivation is always your good and His glory.

As you settle in to work, remember the finished work of Jesus. You cannot add one thing to your salvation or your righteousness. The same God who commanded the winds and waves is the one who entered His rest, and He invites you to rest in Him. When the storm rages, our impatience and fear often get in the way, but if you wait on Him, He will work it out. He sealed up the hand of every man with rain and cold, reminding us who truly is in control.

I am praying now that His peace would guard your heart and mind, that no harm would come near your dwelling, and that this tempest would pass without damage. Let the thunder drive you deeper into trust, not into terror. Go about your tasks with the quiet confidence that the One who holds the universe has you firmly in His grip.
