We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious sister and her two young sons who are living under the shadow of fear and violence. Father God, we know that You are a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9). We cry out to You on their behalf, asking for Your divine protection to surround them like a shield. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of violence and addiction that has taken hold of this man, and we declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Heavenly Father, we pray for a permanent and godly solution to this ongoing crisis. We ask that You would intervene in the legal system and provide this mother with the resources, wisdom, and support she needs to secure safety for herself and her children. Give her courage to take the necessary steps, and surround her with godly counsel and protection. We pray for her ex, that the chains of addiction would be broken, and that he would come to repentance and turn from his wicked ways. But until that day, Lord, we ask that You would restrain him and keep him far from this family.
We also lift up these two little boys, who have witnessed and endured far too much. Father, heal their hearts and minds from the trauma they have experienced. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them know that You are their heavenly Father who loves them and will never leave them nor forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6). Provide this mother with the strength and wisdom to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and surround them with godly role models who can speak life and truth into their lives.
Lord, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to You and the power to overcome the darkness in this world. We pray that this family would come to know You intimately, if they do not already, and that they would find their hope and strength in You. For there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that they would experience Your love and protection in tangible ways, and that they would be drawn closer to You through this trial.
We also pray for this sister’s future. Father, we ask that You would prepare a godly man, a husband after Your own heart, who will love her and her sons as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Guard her heart from fear and bitterness, and help her to trust in Your perfect timing and plan for her life. May she find her worth and identity in You alone, and may she raise her sons to be men of God who stand for righteousness and truth.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we bind every spirit of fear, violence, and addiction that is seeking to destroy this family. We declare that they are covered by the blood of Jesus, and that no harm shall come near their dwelling (Psalm 91:10). We trust in You, Lord, to be their defender and their deliverer. Strengthen their faith, and let them see Your hand moving on their behalf. We pray all these things according to Your will, in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
