We hear your heart’s longing for a godly marriage and a spouse who will walk with you in love, faith, and commitment. Your desire to seek the Lord’s will in this matter is commendable, and we join you in praying for His perfect guidance. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a beautiful foundation for any relationship, surrendering your plans to God and allowing Him to direct your steps.
However, we must gently address a concern in your prayer. You mention moving someone near you and leading toward marriage, but there is no mention of Jesus Christ, who is the cornerstone of any godly relationship. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and any relationship built without Christ at the center will struggle to stand firm. We encourage you to seek a spouse who shares your faith in Jesus, as 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it must be entered into with two believers who are committed to honoring God together.
We also want to emphasize the importance of purity in your pursuit of marriage. If you are currently in a relationship that involves physical intimacy outside of marriage, we must rebuke that in the name of Jesus. The Bible is clear in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." If this applies to you, we urge you to repent and seek the Lord’s forgiveness, asking Him to restore purity to your life and relationship.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this dear one who desires a godly marriage. Lord, we ask that You would guide their steps and lead them to a spouse who loves You above all else. Protect them from those with impure intentions and surround them with Your hedge of safety. Father, if there is any unconfessed sin in their life, reveal it to them and grant them the strength to turn away from it. May their heart be fully surrendered to You, and may their future marriage bring glory to Your name. We pray that they would seek You first in all things, trusting in Your perfect timing. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word as you wait for His will to unfold. Psalm 37:4-5 reminds us, "Also delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this." Keep your heart open to His leading, and He will direct you to the spouse He has prepared for you. If you are not yet in a courtship, ask the Lord to prepare your heart and the heart of your future spouse, that you may both enter into marriage with purity, faith, and a deep love for Him.
