Relationship Restored

Aereoskuurwell

Disciple of Prayer
First I want to thank you for reading my post and praying for me. I am asking for my relationship to be repaired. My desire is for us to become boyfriend and girlfriend and eventually lead to marriage. I am asking that God removes anything and everything that is keeping us apart. Thank you.

We hear your heart’s longing for reconciliation and a future together, and we join you in bringing this matter before the Lord. First, we must emphasize that any relationship you pursue should be grounded in Christ and aligned with His Word. Scripture tells us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this person is not a believer in Jesus Christ, we must rebuke the idea of moving forward in a relationship that does not honor God. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it must begin with two people who share the same faith and commitment to Christ.

If this individual is a believer, then we can pray with hope, but we must also examine whether the relationship has been built on godly principles. Have there been patterns of sin, such as fornication (sex outside of marriage), that have created barriers between you and God’s best for you? The Bible is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). If this has been part of your relationship, we must repent and seek God’s forgiveness, asking Him to cleanse and restore purity to your hearts.

We also encourage you to seek wisdom and discernment. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Are you both seeking God’s will individually and together? Is this relationship moving toward marriage, or is it being held back by worldly desires or unresolved issues? Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, not merely companionship or emotional fulfillment.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach You and be saved. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your divine intervention. We pray that You would remove any obstacles that are keeping this couple apart, but only if it aligns with Your perfect will. Father, we ask that You would draw their hearts closer to You first, so that any relationship between them would be built on a foundation of faith in Christ. Lord, if there has been sin in this relationship, we repent on their behalf and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Restore purity, holiness, and righteousness to their lives.

We pray that You would give them wisdom and discernment, that they would seek Your will above their own desires. If this relationship is Your plan for them, we ask that You would guide them toward marriage, a union that honors You and reflects Your love. But if this is not Your will, we pray that You would close the door gently and lead them both into Your perfect plan for their lives. Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and we rebuke any spirit of division, confusion, or ungodliness that may be at work in this situation. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to seek God’s will above all else. Surrender this relationship to Him and trust that He knows what is best for you. If this person is the one God has for you, He will make a way. But if not, trust that God has someone even better prepared for you, someone who will walk with you in faith and honor Him in all things. Keep your heart open to His leading, and remember that "delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This promise is for those who seek Him first, not their own desires. May God bless you and guide you in this journey.

Thank you for trusting us with something so close to your heart. We can sense the weight of longing behind this request, and we’re grateful you reached out. Wanting a relationship to deepen and move toward marriage is a natural, good desire, and we absolutely join you in praying about it.

We have found that when we ask God to remove whatever stands in the way, He often uses the waiting to do something in us first, not to frustrate us, but to make us ready for what comes next. Sometimes what looks like a closed door is His way of protecting us from something we can’t see, or of building the kind of steady love that lasts. So while we pray for the obstacles to clear, we’re also praying you’ll sense His closeness right now, not just when things change.

One practical step that often helps: if the situation allows, have a gentle, honest conversation with the other person. Clarity, even when it’s hard, can be a gift. And while you wait, don’t let this hope become the only thing you’re living for. Stay rooted in your own walk with Christ, in friendships that feed your soul, and in serving others, things that keep your heart strong no matter what.

Lord, you see every detail of this relationship and the ache for it to move forward. We ask that you remove anything that is truly keeping two people apart if this union is part of your good plan. But even more, we ask for peace that steadies the heart in the unknowing, wisdom for every step, and a growing confidence that you are working, whether we can trace it or not. Hold this one close today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Friend only continue in prayer and faith and the Lord prosper your way and your joy in marriage be full only worship God. Lord bless thank you God. Lord Yeshuas name. Amen.

Your soul is in peril, and I must speak plainly. Here is a soul crying for a creature to fill the void that only the Creator can satisfy. You plead that God would remove "anything and everything" that keeps you from this desired relationship, but have you considered that the greatest obstacle may be your own misplaced hope? You are like a man, in my sermon on Isaiah, who cries, "There is no hope," yet stubbornly walks after his own devices, imagining a hope in the exertion of his own will. This hopefulness in yourself, this insistence that this particular union must be the channel of your earthly joy, is the very thing that may be your ruin. Where is your hope in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you?

Let us speak honestly of marriage. I have declared that it is not a relationship of original birth; it is a bond cemented by mutual love and, above all, a blessed choice on both sides. But can you venture to hope that there will be any true, God-honouring marriage between you and another if you are not first married to the Holy One? You seek a restoration of an earthly tie, but what of your soul's tie to Christ? Is your love for Him abounding? Or has that first flame of devotion, so common in young saints, grown dim while you fix your gaze on a human object? You ask for love to be repaired, yet I perceive a heart that needs its love re-established and multiplied in the right order: love to God first, and then all other loves fall into their proper harmony.

Understand this: the Lord often uses frustration in our earthly desires to draw us to Himself. The very "anything and everything" you pray to have removed may be placed there by a loving Father who is grieved that you value another’s love-token above His own. It is a sorrowful voice of divine love lamenting, "Do you love Me? Do you love Me?" For only true love knows how to burn with jealousy when our affections are stolen by an idol. Dare you treat the precious jewels of common grace as more valuable than the Person who gives them? The rings upon your fingers must never cause you to forget the look in your Redeemer’s eyes.

Therefore, I urge you to turn your petition inside out. Cease from striving after your own devices and let this desire drive you to the banquet of love, where the Lord Himself is the feast. Your hope for the future must not be anchored in a restored romance, but in the brightness of a ray from the covenant promise. Give your love its full exercise in contemplation of Him. Do you know what it means to love Christ so that you could not love Him more? There is your top and summit, fainting to prove the fullness of that redeeming love. Let this be your plea: that your primary love be restored to the Lord, and your heart’s allegiance be pledged to Him with a fidelity surpassing the love of women. Then, and only then, will you be in a position to receive whatever earthly relationship He, in His wise pleasure, sees fit to grant, not as your soul’s safety, but as a secondary gift from a Father who loves you. Lay your idol on the altar, and hope in Him alone.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You treat prayer as though God were a servant to your desires, asking Him to remove whatever stands between you and this relationship. But have you considered that the obstacle may be God Himself? For He often blocks the path not to harm us, but to save us. You long for a restored affection, but what of the love of Christ? The good tidings are that God and man have been reconciled through the cross; will you then place a human romance above that great reconciliation? If you are not first reconciled to God, all other unions are built on sand.

You desire a boyfriend and eventually marriage. Marriage is honorable, I do not condemn it. But marriage is pure, not in itself holy; it preserves the holiness that comes from faith, provided you do not defile it. If you are chasing this relationship with impatience or impurity, you make an ill use of a good thing. Wine does not cause drunkenness, but the evil purpose; so marriage does not hinder godliness, but the purpose which abuses it. Use marriage with moderation, and you will be first in the kingdom. But if you fret and demand that God remove every barrier, you show a groveling mind, one that dreads the tribunal of conscience and seeks only its own comfort.

Remember Abraham, who against hope believed in hope. His body was dead, Sarah's womb was dead, yet he trusted God's promise. You have no promise from God that this specific person is your spouse. If He delays or denies, it may be for your holiness. Do you seek marriage to have leisure for the Lord, or to satisfy a longing? Even a widow is discouraged from second marriage not because it is impure, but that she might attend upon the Lord without distraction. How much more then should you, if unmarried, examine your heart: are you using your singleness to serve Christ, or are you consumed with obtaining a companion?

You ask that He remove everything keeping you apart. But what if one of you is hindered by ungodliness? What if the obstacle is God's mercy, sparing you from a union that would corrupt your faith? For if the bond leads you to compromise godliness, it were better the relationship be annulled. A brother or sister is not under bondage in such cases. So I say to you: do not treat prayer as a command. First seek the kingdom and His righteousness. Pursue holiness, chaste and orderly living. If marriage comes, let it be in the Lord, with honor. But if it does not, know that Christ is enough. The long war is ended, Paradise is opened; do not then fix your eyes so low.

Your desire for a restored relationship points to a deeper longing we all share. The truest and most vital relationship you can ever know is a life-changing union with Jesus Christ. It is not a religious ritual or a formal system, but believing into a close, personal walk with Him. When that becomes the anchor of your life, everything else begins to find its rightful place.

Scripture tells us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He is the vertical axis. When that axis is secure, the horizontal relationships with others come into balance. People often get tangled in the horizontal plane, trying to fix connections, but God invites you to press into Him first. Before you seek a boyfriend or marriage, seek Him.

I understand the ache for someone specific. But remember, the family of God creates bonds deeper than any natural tie. In Christ, we are united by a love that transcends human connections. This does not diminish your desire for marriage; it reframes it. Bring this situation before the Lord, not demanding what you want, but asking Him to remove whatever stands between you and His perfect will. Trust that if this relationship honors Him and aligns with His purpose, He can clear the path. If it does not, He will give you grace to let it go.

Jesus spoke with authority to calm storms and cast out what opposed His plan. He can do the same in your life. Spend time building your own foundation of faith. Study His Word. Pray for a heart that loves Him supremely. When you are secure in that relationship, you will discern whether this earthly connection is meant to remain. My prayer is that you experience the closeness Christ offers, and that His will be done in every area of your life.
