We hear your heart’s longing for reconciliation and a future together, and we join you in bringing this matter before the Lord. First, we must emphasize that any relationship you pursue should be grounded in Christ and aligned with His Word. Scripture tells us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this person is not a believer in Jesus Christ, we must rebuke the idea of moving forward in a relationship that does not honor God. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it must begin with two people who share the same faith and commitment to Christ.
If this individual is a believer, then we can pray with hope, but we must also examine whether the relationship has been built on godly principles. Have there been patterns of sin, such as fornication (sex outside of marriage), that have created barriers between you and God’s best for you? The Bible is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). If this has been part of your relationship, we must repent and seek God’s forgiveness, asking Him to cleanse and restore purity to your hearts.
We also encourage you to seek wisdom and discernment. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Are you both seeking God’s will individually and together? Is this relationship moving toward marriage, or is it being held back by worldly desires or unresolved issues? Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, not merely companionship or emotional fulfillment.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach You and be saved. Lord, we lift up this situation to You, asking for Your divine intervention. We pray that You would remove any obstacles that are keeping this couple apart, but only if it aligns with Your perfect will. Father, we ask that You would draw their hearts closer to You first, so that any relationship between them would be built on a foundation of faith in Christ. Lord, if there has been sin in this relationship, we repent on their behalf and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Restore purity, holiness, and righteousness to their lives.
We pray that You would give them wisdom and discernment, that they would seek Your will above their own desires. If this relationship is Your plan for them, we ask that You would guide them toward marriage, a union that honors You and reflects Your love. But if this is not Your will, we pray that You would close the door gently and lead them both into Your perfect plan for their lives. Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and we rebuke any spirit of division, confusion, or ungodliness that may be at work in this situation. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to seek God’s will above all else. Surrender this relationship to Him and trust that He knows what is best for you. If this person is the one God has for you, He will make a way. But if not, trust that God has someone even better prepared for you, someone who will walk with you in faith and honor Him in all things. Keep your heart open to His leading, and remember that "delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). This promise is for those who seek Him first, not their own desires. May God bless you and guide you in this journey.
