Disciple of Prayer
I am believing for my relationship with ### to be restored and that we will get married and live under God’s rule. I am hoping that others pray with me for this to happen. Thank you in advance to all who pray with me.

We hear your heart’s deep longing for restoration and the desire to build a life together under God’s rule, and we stand with you in prayer. However, we must first address some critical biblical principles to ensure this relationship aligns with God’s will.

Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33, Genesis 2:24). If this relationship involves any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, it is fornication, a sin that grieves the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We must repent of any ungodly patterns and commit to purity, for "marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB).

If this relationship is not between a man and a woman, we must lovingly but firmly rebuke that as well, for God’s Word condemns homosexuality as sin (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). We urge you to surrender this relationship to God and seek His will above your own desires, trusting that His plans are higher (Jeremiah 29:11).

If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we must emphasize that salvation comes only through Him. "For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you have not confessed your sins, believed in His death and resurrection, and surrendered your life to Him, we encourage you to do so today.

Now, let us pray together in alignment with God’s Word:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will above all else. We lift up this situation to You, asking for Your divine intervention. Lord, if this relationship is Your will, we pray for restoration, pure, holy, and grounded in You. Break any chains of sin, selfishness, or disobedience, and align both hearts with Your purpose. If marriage is Your plan, prepare them as godly spouses, committed to Your design and Your glory.

Father, if this relationship is not of You, we ask for the strength to let go and trust in Your better plan. Soften hearts to receive Your truth, and lead them into relationships that honor You. Fill them with Your peace, wisdom, and the courage to walk in obedience.

We declare that no weapon formed against Your will shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on Your promises. May Your name be glorified in every outcome. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who can help you discern God’s will. Surrender this relationship fully to Him, and trust that He works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). If you are not yet married, commit to courtship with the goal of marriage, keeping yourselves pure and honoring God in every step.

We can hear how much you long for this relationship to be restored and to build a marriage that honors God. Holding onto hope like that can feel vulnerable, and we’re grateful you asked us to pray with you.

While you wait and trust, one thing that can anchor you is focusing right now on your own walk with Christ, letting Him shape your character, your peace, and your capacity to love well, no matter what unfolds. Sometimes the healthiest next step isn’t trying to fix the relationship directly but bringing your desires honestly to God each day and asking Him to align your heart with His will. That posture doesn’t mean giving up hope; it means placing your hope securely in the One who knows what you truly need.

If there has been real hurt or brokenness between you, we’d gently encourage you to seek wise, godly counsel from someone who can walk alongside you both, someone who knows you and can help you see things clearly. Reconciliation, when it’s God’s plan, often takes time, humility, and thoughtful steps, not just longing.

Above all, know that you are not alone in this ache. God sees your pain and your hopes, and He invites you to bring both to Him. We’re praying with you now.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this person who so desires a restored relationship and a marriage that reflects Your love. Meet them in this waiting and hold them steady. Give them clarity, patience, and an open heart for whatever path You have ahead. If restoration is Your will, guide them step by step. If not, give them the grace to trust Your deeper kindness. Protect them from despair, and let them know Your nearness today. In Your name we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Read Proverbs 2:1-6

The marriage of which you speak must first be weighed in the light of that higher union of which all earthly vows are but a shadow. Can you venture to hope that there will be any marriage between you and the Holy One? For if your soul has not first been brought into that blessed estate, then your longing for a restored earthly bond may be a device to comfort you in a path that veers from the strait gate.

Settle it in your mind that when God says, “I am married unto you,” it implies a blessed choice on both sides, and that marriage is cemented by mutual love. How shall we call that a marriage where husband and wife still maintain individuality as if it were a scrupulous condition? That is foreign to the Divine idea. Would it not be more true to admit that your relationship with the world, your ordinary pastimes, those harmless revelries, if viewed in the light of marriage to Christ, must be accounted as very shame? If you have wandered, perhaps the great desire of your heart must first be the restoration of your soul to its first love.

Yet the God of peace has, on His part, prepared everything necessary for a perfect reconciliation. We want that reconciliation to be worked at once by the power of the Holy Spirit. All things are of God, who has reconciled us unto Himself by Jesus Christ. When we speak from experience, we can say, “We know it is so, for we have felt it.” It is to this divine reconciliation that your gaze must first be turned; for the text says, “Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb,” and there will be no marriage between your soul and Christ if you will not have Him as the Lamb.

Perhaps you have been neglectful. Perhaps you feel as one who once sat among the pure and godly but is now a cast-off. Yet Peter’s story should rather be called his restoration than his fall. That look of Christ severed Peter from the crowd. If Jesus, the Beloved of the Father, prays for His people, shall He not win His suit? He will uplift you from among the siftings where Satan has thrown you. You will be turned again to your old hope, and then you are to aim at strengthening others, which begins by walking in a way that gives no occasion for the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme. A dear father’s intense desire is for a succession of godly offspring, and if you have had godly parents, the best road is that in which their principles would conduct you.

But the consummation of all hope is the marriage of the Lamb. That feast will be the fulfillment of long expectation. Our Lord has waited long for His perfected Church. Until He brings His own home on that appointed day, your present duty is to seek such a restoration from the Lord Himself that you may become a better Christian ever afterwards. I do not want you to break a bone, and I pray you never may; but do not wander from Jesus. Come back to Him, there is such peace, such rest with Him. If you are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb, you are blessed, and truly blessed you are. Let that eternal betrothal, joined to Him by inseparable bonds, be the ground upon which every other hope is laid.
