Proverbs, Chapter 18

18:1 He who separates himself seeks [his own] desire, And rages against all sound wisdom.

18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But only that his heart may reveal itself.

18:3 When the wicked comes, there comes also contempt, And with ignominy [comes] reproach.

18:4 The words of a man's mouth are [as] deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is [as] a gushing brook.

18:5 To respect the person of the wicked is not good, [Nor] to turn aside the righteous in judgment.

18:6 A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for stripes.

18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.

18:8 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts.

18:9 He also who is slack in his work Is brother to him who is a destroyer.

18:10 The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it, and is safe.

18:11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And as a high wall in his own imagination.

18:12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty; And before honor [goes] humility.

18:13 He who gives answer before he hears, It is folly and shame to him.

18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a broken spirit who can bear?

18:15 The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

18:16 A gift of man makes room for him, And brings him before great men.

18:17 He who pleads his cause first [seems] just; But his fellow man comes and searches him out.

18:18 The lot causes contentions to cease, And parts between the mighty.

18:19 A brother offended [is harder to be won] than a strong city; And [such] contentions are like the bars of a castle.

18:20 A man's belly will be filled with the fruit of his mouth; With the increase of his lips he will be satisfied.

18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue; And those who love it will eat its fruit.

18:22 Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor of Yahweh.

18:23 The poor uses entreaties; But the rich answers roughly.

18:24 He who has many companions [does it] to his own destruction; But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

A growing number of college age Christian young people are leaving the church and they need our prayers because there is a need for young people in our churches to serve as song leaders,  Sunday school teachers and deacons.  The name of Yahweh is a strong tower. Prov. 18.10a  Let us all believer God as our strong tower to protect and guide our young people who are in college and univesities to be true to their faith and to the Lord Jesus.

Do not compare your life with others Christians.  How they live, how they act in front of others and so on.  Compare yourself with Jesus life.  How he acted before the crowds.  Feeding the five thousand people because He felt so bad letting the go hungry.  Are we feeding the homeless and the hungry on the streets?  Jesus healed the sick and the lepers. So, we too, should visit the sick and those in the nursing homes. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity.  Prov. 18.14a   May the spirit of God fill our hearts and souls so we will be walking in the light as He is in the light.

People can take many things away from you but they will never take your good attitude, you love for Jesus, His compassion and mercy. His care and involvement in our lives will continue as long as we serve Him with all our hearts and soul. A fools mouth is his destruction. Proverbs 18.7a Continue to pray for sinners that talk a lot about themselves and do nothing for Jesus. Please God, save their souls so instead of talking nonsense, they will talk about Jesus and His word. Amen

Forgiveness is the fragrance that roses brings to our surroundings.  When you forgive others, the fragrance of Jesus presence in your life will bring more fruit to yourself because we were also forgiven.  Blessed Lord Jesu, help us to forgive others just as you have forgiven us. Death and life are in the power of the tongue.  Prov. 18.21a   Let your words bring life and hope to others instead of death and sadness.  Make each one of us a blessing to others we pray.   Amen

I try as hard as I can to not judge others,  When I do, then I go and look at the mirror and say. Are you doing the same thing to others?  What would Jesus do in this divorce situation?  Where the children end up after that?  The bruises, the pain, the sadness and remebering all the time the fights they had.  Jesus, heal our hearts today we pray.  As we read your word. Help us to think on eternal things and those who are far away from you, to get saved. Proverbs 18.2a  A fool has no delight in understanding.  Yes, sometimes we do not understand why God brings all kinds of troubles in our lives. Lack of jobs, loosing our homes and broken marriages.  Children cry and we become homeless.   Please Jesus, have mercy on those who suffer untold pain and sorrow in their hearts.  Confort them and fill them with your love.  In Jesus name. Amen

You are the salt of the earth.  But if the salt looses its saltness, how can it be salted again?  It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under foot.  Mat. 5.13   God want to use each one of us to be salt of the earth.  When you sing in the choir, God is using you for His glory and honor when you sing praises to Him you bless people wth your songs. The words of a mans mouth are as deep waters.  Prov. 18.4a  Lord Jesus, use my mouth to bless others and to be a blessing to those I see each day.  Let me be a salt of the earth to all my family and friends.  Use me for your glory and honor.  In Your name. Amen
