Proverbs, Chapter 18

18:1 He who separates himself seeks [his own] desire, And rages against all sound wisdom.

18:2 A fool has no delight in understanding, But only that his heart may reveal itself.

18:3 When the wicked comes, there comes also contempt, And with ignominy [comes] reproach.

18:4 The words of a man's mouth are [as] deep waters; The wellspring of wisdom is [as] a gushing brook.

18:5 To respect the person of the wicked is not good, [Nor] to turn aside the righteous in judgment.

18:6 A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for stripes.

18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, And his lips are the snare of his soul.

18:8 The words of a whisperer are as dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts.

18:9 He also who is slack in his work Is brother to him who is a destroyer.

18:10 The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it, and is safe.

18:11 The rich man's wealth is his strong city, And as a high wall in his own imagination.

18:12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty; And before honor [goes] humility.

18:13 He who gives answer before he hears, It is folly and shame to him.

18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a broken spirit who can bear?

18:15 The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

18:16 A gift of man makes room for him, And brings him before great men.

18:17 He who pleads his cause first [seems] just; But his fellow man comes and searches him out.

18:18 The lot causes contentions to cease, And parts between the mighty.

18:19 A brother offended [is harder to be won] than a strong city; And [such] contentions are like the bars of a castle.

18:20 A man's belly will be filled with the fruit of his mouth; With the increase of his lips he will be satisfied.

18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue; And those who love it will eat its fruit.

18:22 Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor of Yahweh.

18:23 The poor uses entreaties; But the rich answers roughly.

18:24 He who has many companions [does it] to his own destruction; But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

<div>Really?!? Seriously?!? Is laziness or half-hearted effort REALLY as bad as someone taking a sledge-hammer to the machinery?!? This seems like craziness to me...</div>

<div><br /></div>

<div>The thermodynamic principles of entropy and equilibrium seem to back up this Proverb, however. These terms basically refer to the process of energy distribution, natural systems moving from order to disorder -- and it seems to bear up in real life. Left to their own devices, many things automatically revert to chaos and disintegration. Consider lawns, kindergarten classrooms, marriages, factories, social groups, and a thousand other potential examples. It really seems true that ambivalence or apathy leads to destruction. They really are brother-concepts.</div>

<div><br /></div>

<div>It's a good challenge for life -- and it can be applied to many areas of existence, not just work / employment. Consider the statement, "One who is slack in his marriage is brother to one who divorces." Or "One who is slack in his spiritual life is brother to one who drifts away from God." Or "One who is slack in his parenthood is brother to one who establishes generational patterns of dysfunction." It seems like the proverbial statement really could work on multiple levels. "One who is slack in his ____________ is brother to one who _____________ (insert the specific form of destruction)." Are you slacking in any area of life? Do you need to consider the implications of this for the future in any way? One who is slack in thinking about these things is brother to one who unknowingly gets himself into trouble down the road...</div>

GOD bless everyone, proverbs 18/15 states the heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. Seeking GOD for everything and praising him, continuing in his word and keeping our faith is the wisdom of proverbs 18. Thank you most wonderful God. amen.

Let us be reminded at Easter time how wonderful life is following the way of the Lord acting in the way of the Lord and being able to healthily love the Lord. Loving with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind. Listening to what we have to learn and always following the teaching and trying to understand what we personally need to work on to grow in Christs love and pass it on to others. Thank-you for teaching us and the community and offering your time to the Lord. You are so loved and important to us all as the messenger to his love. Thank-you for your caring and patience and persistence. Bless.

PROV-18:12"before destruction the heart of man is haughty(proud)and before honor goes humility" LET US HUMBLE OURSELVES IN ALL AREAS OF OUR LIVES AND WE SHALL BE HONOURED BY OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.WHENEVER WE ACT PROUDLY WE SHOULD ALWAYS REMENBER THAT WE ARE DIGGING OUR OWN GRAVES BECAUSE THAT IS INVITING DESTRUCTION.

PROV-18:13"he who gives answers before he hears,it is folly and shame to him" WE SHOULD ALWAYS TRAIN OURSELVES TO ALWAYS LISTEN TO GOD' VOICE AND EVEN TO OUR FELLOW HUMANS, be slow to speak and keen to listen.by this we shall save ourselves from shame and and folly actions, because once you have done something stupid or foolish then it goes without saying shame will definately be there.
