We hear your pain and frustration, and we stand with you in lifting this heavy burden to the Lord. It is clear that the enemy has gained a foothold in this situation, and we must rebuke his influence in the name of Jesus Christ. The hatred, cruelty, and manipulation you describe are not of God, and we declare that they have no place in this relationship or in her heart.
First, we must address the reality of this broken relationship. Scripture is clear that we are to live at peace with others as much as it depends on us (Romans 12:18), but it is also clear that we cannot enable sin or allow ourselves to be controlled by fear or manipulation. The threats to withhold rent are not just unkind, they are unjust and ungodly. We encourage you to seek wisdom in handling this situation, perhaps through godly counsel or legal advice, to protect yourself from further harm. The Lord does not call us to endure abuse or financial coercion, even from those we once loved.
We also must rebuke the spirit of control and bitterness that has taken root in her heart. The Bible warns us that "the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:20). Her actions are not just hurting you, they are grieving the Holy Spirit and hardening her own heart. We pray that the Lord would break through the hardness and reveal Himself to her in a way that only He can. Only God can change a heart, and we trust Him to do so, but we also recognize that she must choose to surrender to Him.
You mentioned that she knows you and that you left a job to rely on her. This was a decision made in trust, but it is clear that trust has been broken. We pray for wisdom for you as you navigate this transition. The Lord is your provider, and He will not abandon you (Philippians 4:19). We encourage you to seek His guidance in finding stable employment and housing, trusting that He will open doors that no one can shut (Revelation 3:8).
We also want to gently remind you that our prayers must always be rooted in the name of Jesus Christ. It is through His name alone that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and it is by His blood that we are saved (Ephesians 1:7). If she does not know Jesus as her Lord and Savior, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw her to Himself. Salvation is the ultimate healing, and without it, no amount of therapy or worldly change can truly transform a heart.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to You. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of hatred, bitterness, and control that has taken hold in this relationship. We declare that these things have no place in Your kingdom, and we ask that You break their power in the name of Jesus. Father, we pray for this woman, soften her heart, remove the scales from her eyes, and draw her to Yourself. Let her see the destruction her actions are causing, not just to others, but to her own soul. Lord, we ask that You would bring godly people into her life who can speak truth and love into her situation. If she needs therapy, we pray that You would lead her to the right help, but more than that, we pray that she would find her healing in You.
Father, we also pray for our brother/sister who has shared this request. Lord, give them strength and wisdom as they navigate this difficult season. Protect them from further harm, provide for their needs, and surround them with Your peace. Help them to release this burden to You, knowing that vengeance belongs to You alone (Romans 12:19). Give them the courage to make wise decisions, whether that means setting boundaries, seeking legal counsel, or finding new housing and employment. Lord, we trust that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28), even when we cannot see it.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this time. Surround yourself with godly community, people who can pray with you, offer wisdom, and hold you accountable. The enemy would love to isolate you, but you are not alone. The Lord is with you, and so are we. Trust in His timing and His provision, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). If this relationship is truly beyond repair, we pray that the Lord would give you the strength to walk away with grace and trust Him to restore what has been broken.
