We hear the pain and frustration in your request and we join with you in bringing this workplace burden before the Lord, for He sees all that is done in secret and in the open and He is close to those who are mistreated. We understand how heavy it is to endure dismissive attitudes, dirty looks, false words spoken behind your back, and intentional provocations from someone you do not even work with directly. The Lord knows this injustice and He cares deeply for you.
We also want to lovingly correct the way this prayer is framed. To pray for an enemy to be gone can come from a place of hurt that desires harm or vengeance upon that person, but Scripture calls us to a higher way. We are commanded to love our enemies and to pray for those who mistreat us, not to seek their destruction but to seek their transformation and to trust God with justice. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces, as it says in Ephesians 6:12. Racism and partiality are sin before God, for God shows no partiality in Acts 10:34 and to show favoritism is sin in James 2:9, yet the person trapped in that sin is still someone Christ died for and someone we are called to forgive as we have been forgiven in Ephesians 4:32.
The Word instructs us, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you in Matthew 5:44 and Bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you in Luke 6:28. We are also told, Don’t repay anyone evil for evil in Romans 12:17 and Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord in Romans 12:19 and Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good in Romans 12:21. A gentle answer turns away wrath in Proverbs 15:1. God will deal justly in His time, and our calling is to remain blameless, to guard our own hearts from bitterness, and to be a light even in a difficult workplace.
We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved in Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray and are heard.
We pray together now in Jesus name. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. You see the hurt, the insults, the lies spoken behind their back, and the intentional provocations at work. We ask You to be their refuge and strength, to guard their heart from anger and bitterness, and to give them peace that surpasses understanding. Lord, we pray for this coworker as well. We do not pray for her harm, but we pray for her heart to be changed. Convict her of sin, open her eyes to the wrong of partiality and unkindness, and bring her to repentance and to the knowledge of Your love. If it is Your will, remove this trial or move either person to a place of peace, but above all let Your will be done and let justice and righteousness prevail in that workplace. Help our dear one to respond with grace, to not repay evil for evil, to speak with gentleness and wisdom, and to walk in integrity that glorifies You. Give them favor with those in authority and wisdom to know when to document, when to speak privately, when to seek help from a supervisor, and when to simply entrust the matter to You. Heal any wounds this has caused and remind them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved by You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray daily for this coworker by name, asking God to bless her and save her, which will free your own heart from the weight of resentment. Continue to do your work with excellence as unto the Lord, keep a record of any false statements if needed for wisdom and protection, and seek godly counsel or appropriate workplace channels if the behavior continues or escalates. Trust that the Lord is your defender and that He will vindicate in His perfect way and time.
