Prayer

Beloved of All
Please pray urgently for our housing situation. A few months ago, the house I was renting suffered a major flood and we lost most of our belongings. Since then, the insurance has been paying for temporary accommodation, but this support will end on 31 July. We asked the council for help. They previously said they would assist us, but they are now requesting many photographs and further evidence. My friend and housemate is exhausted and discouraged by everything caused by the flood, and he does not want to send the photographs. Please pray that Jesus gives him strength and encourages him to send everything the council needs, so our application is not delayed or refused. The landlord has told the council that the house is liveable, but there is visible mould and serious problems upstairs, including concerns about the roof. The landlord has also not provided valid safety certificates for the house. We urgently need the council to understand the true condition of the property and not leave us without safe accommodation. Please pray that God softens the heart of our caseworker and gives them wisdom, compassion and determination to help us quickly. We have contacted lawyers and many organisations, but we keep meeting obstacles and feel as though we are running into a brick wall. I am disabled and previously had ### because of serious health problems. This stress is making me unwell, and we are both exhausted and discouraged. Lord Jesus, please make a way where there seems to be no way. Give us strength to complete everything required, protect our health, reveal the truth about the condition and safety of the house, and open the right door for safe and stable accommodation before the temporary accommodation ends. Please do not allow us to be abandoned or refused the help we urgently need. Amen.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this overwhelming season. The flood, the loss, the exhaustion, and the relentless bureaucracy have pressed down on you both like a heavy weight. But we declare that the Lord sees your struggle and has not abandoned you. Psalm 34:18-19 reminds us, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." You are not forgotten, and we believe God will make a way where there seems to be none.

The discouragement your housemate feels is understandable, but we rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to paralyze him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We pray that God would strengthen his resolve to submit the necessary evidence to the council. May the Lord grant him clarity, energy, and favor as he gathers what is needed. Let the truth of the property’s condition be undeniable, and may the council act with urgency and compassion.

We also lift up your health, knowing that stress can exacerbate physical ailments. Isaiah 41:10 declares, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." We pray for divine healing and protection over your body, mind, and spirit. May the Lord sustain you both and shield you from further harm.

Regarding the landlord’s claims, we ask God to expose the truth. Proverbs 18:17 says, "He who pleads his cause first seems right, until his neighbor comes and questions him." May the council see beyond the landlord’s words and recognize the unsafe conditions of the property. We pray for wisdom for your caseworker, that their heart would be softened, their eyes opened, and their hands moved to act swiftly on your behalf. Let no obstacle stand in the way of your need for safe housing.

We also rebuke the spirit of delay and obstruction that has plagued your efforts. Psalm 103:6 says, "Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed." You are not asking for charity but for justice, and we believe God will move on your behalf. We declare that doors will open, that help will come, and that you will not be left without shelter.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brothers and sisters in their time of distress. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who acts. We ask that You would intervene in their housing situation with Your divine power. Strengthen their hands to complete what is required, and grant them favor with the council. Expose the truth about the property’s condition, and let justice prevail.

Father, we pray for healing over their bodies and peace over their minds. The stress of this situation has taken a toll, but we trust in Your promise to sustain them. Protect their health, and restore their strength. Give them hope in the midst of discouragement, and remind them that You are their refuge and fortress.

Lord, we ask that You would soften the heart of their caseworker and all those in authority who can help. Let them see the urgency of this situation and act with compassion and wisdom. Open the right door for safe and stable accommodation before their temporary housing ends. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn.

We rebuke the spirit of delay and obstruction in Jesus’ name. Let every obstacle be removed, and let Your will be done in this situation. We trust in You, Lord, for You are faithful, and Your mercies endure forever. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Hold fast to hope, dear ones. The Lord is your strength, and He will not fail you. Keep pressing forward, one step at a time, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. We stand with you in faith, believing that God will bring you through this trial into a place of safety and peace.

We are so sorry for the weight you’re both carrying right now, the relentless pressure, the clock ticking toward the end of July, the illness that stress is stirring up again, and a dear friend so worn down he can’t face one more demand. That is not failure; that is a body and soul pushed past their limits. When everything feels like a brick wall, it makes sense that hope leaks away one dropped photo at a time.

We pray, and we also want to mention something very gently because you told us the stress is making you physically unwell, and you mentioned you are disabled with previous serious health troubles. Chronic, unrelenting pressure can flare up old conditions, so please consider letting a doctor know what you’re going through, not instead of prayer, but alongside it, as a practical safeguard for your body while you fight this battle.

As for the council’s request, we wonder if the roadblock with your housemate might be softened if you could sit with him and do the hard part together. Sometimes just having someone else open the camera roll, select the pictures, and press send removes the invisible weight. Or call the caseworker soon, explain that your housemate is utterly depleted but you will submit everything, ask if a brief, defined extension is possible so the application isn’t closed prematurely. You’ve already contacted lawyers and organizations; you are doing more than most would have strength to do. That alone bears witness to your grit.

Now we join you, very simply:

Lord Jesus, you see the mould, the roof, the unsafe walls, and you see two exhausted people who can’t carry this alone. Give your daughter’s body rest and protection, and break the fog of discouragement over her housemate so he can take the next small step. Soften the caseworker’s heart with real compassion, and make the truth about the house plain. Open a door to safe, stable accommodation before time runs out. We trust your provision even when the path disappears. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The council asks for evidence; surely the truth of your dwelling’s condition must be made plain, for the Lord requires honest dealing. Buy the truth, and sell it not. In the matter of practical truth, your actions must be consistent and straightforward. Your friend’s exhaustion is deep, but to neglect this duty would be to let a weariness of the moment bar the door to deliverance. That is a terrible state of affairs, for it ought always to be the case that our affection for godly people should help to draw us towards godliness, and toward the right action which God’s providence now demands. It is decision for Christ and His truth that has the greatest power, and this small act of sending the photographs may prove a hinge of providence. Let your cry for help go up to our blessed Master, that He would grant strength for this immediate obedience.

The landlord has spoken falsehood; visible mold and a failing roof cry out against his word, and the missing certificates add their silent testimony. You must not want to take God to be your helper in the sense of making Him your servant, but to be your Master and so to help you. He will not stop the ordinary run of business, nor alter the way the world goes on, and yet He knows how to help the struggling and to bring up the righteous from deep distress. The truth of the house’s condition is a self-evident thing, and the caseworker’s heart is not left absolutely to their own will, there is another and a higher will that overrules all. We must trace divine sovereignty in all such cases. Pray that the worker’s heart would be softened, not by ignoring what is required, but by a divine compulsion to see clearly and act swiftly.

You feel as though you are running into a brick wall, and your health and spirit falter. I have sometimes been the means in God’s hand of helping a man who suffered with a desponding spirit, but the help I have rendered has cost me dearly. Hours after, I have been myself depressed and felt an inability to shake it off. Yet I have learned that the gracious man feels he cannot take even a step in the right way apart from divine help. Behold, then, a truth that must not be forgotten just when you most need it: He can grant you divine grace to endure, and He can restore the years the locusts have eaten. God will grind sunlight for you out of your black nights; in the oven of affliction, divine grace will prepare the bread of delight. The stress that gnaws at your frame, He Himself bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. Mystery divine, that He laid your iniquity on Christ, and He laid also your sickness of heart.

A home that is safe, a path through these obstacles, these lie within the everlasting love which declared, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” That ancient assurance means your God loves you still and will return in great mercy. If the Lord does not help you, where else can help be found? Not from the threshing floor of your own efforts, nor from the winepress of human aid. How strikingly has God delivered some of us before! Not by miracle that suspends all order, but by a providence full of wonder. By divine interpositions He can deliver from this flood of trouble, revealing the truth of the house’s danger and opening the right door before the temporary shelter vanishes. May the Holy Spirit help you and your housemate to complete what is required, and may the set time of grace arrive when the waters of love flow into your wilderness and make it a pool.

The trial you face is heavy, yet consider: the good tidings of our Lord are not promises of ease in this life, but treasures laid up in heaven, given with all facility to those who seek them. You cry out for a roof over your head, and rightly so, for the body needs shelter. But lift your eyes higher. The housing you lost was a loan, not a possession. All earthly dwellings are but inns for a night; we are sojourners here. The true dwelling is eternal, prepared by Christ for those who love Him.

Your friend is weary, and his spirit flags at sending photographs. Remind him that small obediences open great doors. The Samaritan woman, when Christ uncovered her shame, did not flee in anger but marveled and sought heavenly doctrine. So let your friend not shrink from this small task, but see it as a step of faith. Do what lies before you, and trust God with the rest.

You fear the landlord’s lies and the council’s coldness. But is the arm of the Lord shortened? He who struck the soldiers blind in the garden can blind the eyes of those who plot injustice, and can open the eyes of the caseworker to see the truth. He is not far off; He sits above the floods. The mould on the walls and the broken roof cry out to Him, and He will not despise the cry of the afflicted.

As for your health, remember Peter’s mother-in-law. In an instant, He quenched her fever and restored her strength. The same Lord holds your body in His hands. Yet even if He permits lingering weakness, it is that His power may be perfected in your patience. Do not measure His love by the presence or absence of health or housing, but by the cross He bore for you.

You feel you are running against a wall. So did the Apostles when their goods were plundered, yet they took it with joy, seeing by faith the invisible riches. You have nothing of your own here to keep; send ahead your treasure by generous patience, by prayer unceasing, by forgiving those who now hinder you. This is the gain of godliness with contentment.

Therefore, do not say, “We have no way.” The way is Christ, who is the Resurrection and the Life. He who broke the bars of death can clear every obstacle before you. Only believe, and act in that belief. Complete what the council asks, speak truth with gentleness, and leave the outcome to God. He may grant a safe home before the deadline, or He may allow the storm to test your faith. In either case, He will never abandon you. The widow of Zarephath had but a handful of meal, yet she fed the prophet and was sustained. So shall you be sustained.

Let these light afflictions work for you a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. Turn your eyes from the crumbling house to the city whose builder and maker is God. Then, whether you find shelter or not, you will stand unshaken. We will pray with you that Jesus strengthens your friend, reveals the truth, and gives you a safe dwelling. But more, we pray you may count all earthly loss as gain, and rest in the shadow of His wings. He will make a way, for He is the Way. Amen.
