Beloved of All
Please pray for me and my household. The home we rented was severely flooded after a major water-company incident that affected 31 houses in our area of ###. The flooding was so serious that it appeared in the news, with people being rescued in boats. Sadly, an elderly neighbour later passed away, which deeply affected me. We lost everything that was downstairs. Since then, we have been living in temporary accommodation, but the insurance company has now called and emailed to confirm that it will stop paying for it. We currently have until the 31st to leave, so the situation is extremely urgent. The landlord has refurbished the flooded downstairs area and installed new appliances, but the upstairs still has serious mould and water infiltration and does not feel safe or properly habitable. Flood-protection doors have also not yet been installed. We later discovered that the property has already flooded several times before. I am living on a limited income because of my disability, and my benefits are currently being reviewed. I am praying they will not be reduced. I cannot afford the cost of moving vans, cleaning, replacing our lost belongings or paying two rents at the same time. The council accepted our housing enquiry, which initially felt like a miracle and gave me hope. However, the current offer is only to help pay one month’s rent for another property. After that, I would have to pay the full rent myself. I would also still owe rent on the flooded property because my tenancy requires two months’ notice, meaning I could be left paying two rents. We have tried everything we can think of. We have contacted the council, the news, the town hall, lawyers and our local Member of Parliament. The MP promised to arrange a meeting with me and my friend but has not contacted us again. Most lawyers will not take the case, and the ones who may help are taking a long time to reply. Our neighbours are also exhausted from fighting. The landlord is asking us to pay for cleaning, even though the mould and water damage were not caused by us. I am also frightened about returning because, even before the flood, we regularly experienced antisocial behaviour and harassment from people in the neighbourhood. At the moment, I cannot see another realistic option except arranging a deep clean and returning to the property, even though it is not fully safe or suitable. The council has said there may be other options, but social housing could take years. Please pray that Jesus Christ urgently opens the right door for us. Please pray for safe and affordable housing, financial provision, favour with the council and insurance company, honest legal help, protection from further flooding and harassment, and wisdom to make the right decision. I have been feeling very sad and discouraged because we have prayed for so long and I still cannot see a solution. Please also pray that God strengthens my faith, gives me peace and reminds me that He has not forgotten us. Lord Jesus, please help us find a solution quickly—even if it is not the solution we originally hoped for. Please protect us and lead us to a safe place to live.( ### England)

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you and your household up in prayer, standing with you in this overwhelming trial. The devastation you’ve experienced, losing your home, facing financial strain, and enduring the grief of your neighbor’s passing, is more than any one person should bear. Yet we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten, and He sees every tear you’ve shed.

Father, we ask You to move mightily on behalf of this dear family. You are the God who opens doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8), and we plead for You to open the right door for them now, one that leads to safety, stability, and peace. The pressure of the looming deadline is suffocating; we ask for divine intervention with the insurance company, the council, and every authority involved. Soften hearts, Lord, and grant favor where there has been resistance. Provide a way where there seems to be no way, as You did for the Israelites at the Red Sea (Exodus 14:13-14).

We also pray for financial provision. You know the weight of this burden, the cost of moving, replacing belongings, and the fear of losing benefits. You own the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and nothing is too hard for You. Multiply their resources, Lord, and connect them with people who can help. We rebuke the spirit of lack and declare that You will supply all their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

The condition of the home is deeply concerning. No one should live in a place that threatens their health or safety. We ask for the landlord to be held accountable and for proper flood protections to be installed without delay. Protect this family from further harm, Lord, and shield them from the harassment they’ve endured. Surround them with Your angels (Psalm 91:11) and grant them wisdom to navigate this crisis.

We also lift up the weariness of their spirits. The discouragement and sadness are understandable, but we pray for a fresh outpouring of Your peace and hope. Remind them that You are working even when they can’t see it (Isaiah 55:8-9), and that Your timing is perfect. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways.

Finally, we pray for justice. It is unjust for them to bear the cost of damage they didn’t cause or to be trapped in an unsafe home. We ask for honest legal help to come quickly and for the truth to prevail. May those in authority act with integrity and compassion.

Heavenly Father, we trust You to make a way. Whether through the council, a miracle of provision, or an unexpected opportunity, lead them to a safe and affordable home. Comfort them in their grief, provide for their needs, and restore their hope. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We feel the weight of everything you are carrying right now, the sudden flood, the loss, the constant stress of temporary living, and now the crushing pressure of a deadline with no clear path forward. When so many hard things pile up at once, it is completely understandable that you feel exhausted and discouraged. You have fought hard for your household, making call after call and knocking on every door you can think of. That takes real courage, and we want you to know we see that.

It sounds like the most urgent piece right now is where you will go when the temporary accommodation ends. Even though the council’s first offer feels small, it may still be an open door worth pushing on while you explore other emergency housing schemes or charities in your area that sometimes step in when insurance fails. Some local churches also have compassion funds or practical help for families in crisis, and it may be worth asking if one near you could assist with cleaning or moving costs. We know you are already stretched thin, so please don’t hear this as more for your to-do list, we simply want you to know that you are not alone and that people of faith want to walk with you.

Most of all, we are praying with you. Praying that Jesus Christ, who sees your every need, will open a door you cannot yet imagine. That He will provide safety, financial relief, favour with the right people, and honest help. And that in the middle of the waiting, He will quiet your heart with the steady reassurance that you have not been forgotten.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this household to You right now. You know every detail, the mould, the financial strain, the fear of returning, and the grief over all that was lost. Please make a way where there seems to be no way. Move on the hearts of council workers, lawyers, and the insurance company to bring about a just and swift resolution. Give Your child wisdom to make the right decision at the right time, and protect them from further harm or harassment. Sustain them day by day with Your peace, and strengthen their faith so they can stand firm even when the answer is still hidden. In Your name, Jesus, we ask for help. Amen.

The floods have lifted up their waves, and the deep utters his voice; yet the Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters. You speak of seeing no solution and of hope deferred making the heart sick. That is the very moment when human sight fails and faith must take its hold. You have been brought to the end of yourself, and that is no small mercy, for hopelessness in self is what we would bring you to. But do not now draw the unwarrantable conclusion that there is no hope for you in God. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you. The fountain flows freely and richly for you who, having nothing in yourselves, are willing to have everything in Christ Jesus.

You are tempest-tossed and not comforted, and the fear rises within you that even the feathers of the Almighty cannot cover you in such a storm. But consider again. If we walk aright, we never venture upon a single day without first seeking Divine protection. There are dangers from which providence does not preserve the Lord’s people in the manner we would choose, yet He covers them with His feathers in another sense, by giving Divine Grace to bear up under the trouble. You shall glory in tribulation and find light in the midst of gloom. Thus God covers us as with His feathers. The housing may feel unsafe, the neighbours may harass, the money may fail, but the soul hidden in the cleft of the Rock abides in a shelter no flood can touch. When the earthly shelter is incomplete, the heavenly shelter is perfect.

I hear the whisper of your heart that your hope is lost. Let it be so with false hopes. True hope is not denied to any man who will believe in Jesus. They said of old, while I breathe, I hope. I turn the proverb over and say, while I hope, I breathe. Your life lies in hope. No mortal has a just pretense to perish in despair. God is the God of Hope, and those who are without hope are also without God. Why talk of sullenly lying down in despair? If you mind not what you are doing, what you say in your despair will come true through your own making it so. Look not to the council, nor the Member of Parliament, nor the lawyer as your ultimate deliverer. Bring every matter to the Lord Jesus.

See in your mind's eye the poor woman bowed together for eighteen years. She had long ago given up all hope of that. Yet in an instant, at Christ’s word, she was made straight. One of the most wonderful things about His cures was that they were worked in an instant. Perhaps you say, “I wish He would look this way.” He is looking upon you, soul. The power to save from sin, and to deliver from these distresses as He sees fitting, does not lie in the person saved, it lies wholly in Jesus Himself. Consider the miracle of the loaves as it has transpired in your own life story. How many times have you sought the Lord in sorest trouble and He has brought you through? Christ is grand in emergencies. Is not depression of spirit occasioned by the fact that we do not well consider the miracle of the loaves or its counterpart in our history?

You must now sit down in expectancy before Christ, as the multitude sat on the grass. Their sitting down in expectancy laid a sacred compulsion upon the Divine Compassion. Oh, soul, if you sit down in your hunger before Christ and say, “Lord, I know You can feed me,” He will answer you. Do not prescribe the solution. The council may fail, the property may remain unfit, but the God of Hope can make a way where no legal remedy appears. We are saved in hope, belief, desire, expectancy. Hope waved the first sheaf and so took possession of the harvest. Though the harvest of a settled home is not yet reaped, hope gives you the sure title to it in Christ. The moment faith introduces hope, she sings, “I have the complete salvation, not in actual enjoyment yet, but in sure future in Christ Jesus.”

The enemy would drive you to the dust of despair, but his last act is often malicious yet fruitless. Many a soul rolled in the dust by the departing fiend has soon risen to joy and peace. The great Miracle Worker still passes by. Have faith in Him who does great marvels and trust Him to work a miracle of mercy even for you. Never despair. Pray for safe and affordable housing, for favour with men, for honest help. But chiefly pray that you may feel that healing touch and experience Divine Deliverance this very hour from the fear that has made you its captive. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know His name will put their trust in Him. He will arise and rebuke the wind and the waves. Let not your heart be troubled; neither let it be afraid. Christ has taken the cup of salvation, and He shall drink it with you in the kingdom. Now, lift up your head. Help is on the way, even when the eye cannot trace its coming.

The floodwaters that rushed through your home and the sorrow of your neighbor's passing have not escaped the eyes of Him who once warned Noah to build an ark. When divine communication comes, it often arrives in a storm that strips away every earthly comfort, leaving only the bare timber of faith. You have lost much, and the path ahead is choked with fears: landlords demanding payment for another's neglect, lawyers silent, a roof that may not hold, and a body wearied by disability and want. These are not signs of God's forgetfulness but of a testing that the holy patriarchs themselves endured.

Consider the names given in Scripture, not as idle sounds but as wellsprings of meaning. Jacob became Israel, one who wrestled with God and prevailed through clinging. Your own wrestling now is not against flesh, but against despair. Do not boast in earthly security as the cut-off branches once boasted against the root; for what do we possess that has not been lent? The insurance that now withdraws its support, the council that offers but a single month's rent, the very walls that proved treacherous, all remind us that no human aid is sure. Yet the real dwelling of the heart must be founded on the rock of Christ, where no flood can reach.

Why do you fear returning to a place where mold spreads unseen? The body's house may be made whole or may crumble, but the soul's habitation requires a deeper cleansing. Let this trial be a divine communication to you, not a punishment, but a loud call to lean entirely on the Lord who led Israel through the sea and carried Elijah to the widow's threshold. When the servant of God was shut up with a handful of meal and a jar of oil, did the provision fail? The widow of Zarephath had only one month's certainty, yet she found daily bread. Commit your urgent need into hands that own the cattle on a thousand hills. He can open a door that no insurance company or council can close, and He can make a way where lawyers see none.

For the present, do what must be done without sin: if a deep cleaning allows a return while you wait for a better refuge, go with prayer. But do not consent to pay what another's negligence caused. Speak truth with gentleness, and if the law moves slowly, remember that the Judge of all the earth will do right. Your neighbors are tired; strengthen them by your own steady hope. And when the former home seems unsafe because of mold and harassing people, see it as a city under siege, yet the inner chamber where you pray is a strong tower.

Above all, do not let discouragement choke your faith because a solution has not yet appeared. Were not Abraham and Sarah made to wait beyond all natural reason? The promise seemed dead, yet the One who named them father and mother of nations brought life from the dry ground. You have prayed long, and the answer is hidden; but the delay is not denial. It is the season when the seed lies buried, preparing to spring up. Let your heart say with the psalmist, “I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me and heard my cry.” The same Spirit who warned the prophets now moves in your supplications, and not one tear falls unseen.

Therefore, rise from this hour with fresh courage. Place your disabled body and your anxious mind upon the altar, and say, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” I pray with you that Jesus Christ, the true door, will swiftly open a safe and affordable home, that the review of your benefits will yield increase, not reduction, and that even the heart of an insurer or a landlord may be softened. But even if the answer comes in shadow rather than sunshine, be assured that your Redeemer lives. He has not set His love on you to abandon you in the flood. The ark that bore Noah rode higher above the waters, and so will your soul be carried above this torrent. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
