Silas
Beloved of All
Your gratitude for the goodness of God is a good place to begin, and it is right to bring every need before Him in prayer.
For your desire for good rest, Scripture speaks of a rest that remains for the people of God. It is not a rest we earn by our own effort or skill, but a rest we enter by believing and trusting in what Jesus has finished for us on the cross. God rested after His work of creation was complete, and He invites us to cease from striving to make ourselves acceptable and to rest in Christ. That rest also comes through commitment, when we commit our way to the Lord, trust Him, and wait patiently for Him to bring His will to pass. His will is always best, even when we do not understand it. You can know His peace today by simply believing that He is able to care for you and will care for you. Ask Him to help you enter and remain in that rest of faith.
For the health needs you mentioned, including the lung issues and the heart issue, and your request for quick healing, we join you in asking the Lord for His healing touch. He is compassionate and able to heal, and He hears the prayers of His people. We pray that He would bring relief, strength, and restoration according to His perfect wisdom and mercy, and that He would give peace to those who are waiting and wisdom to those providing care.
For the struggle with lustful thoughts, know that you are not alone. Temptation is common to everyone, and to be tempted is not itself sin. Even Jesus was tempted, yet without sin. Sin comes when we yield to the desire of the flesh and allow lust, when it has conceived, to bring forth its fruit. The world appeals to us through the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and pride, and the enemy still uses those same avenues. Lust is never truly satisfied by indulging it. The only way to overcome it is to starve it and to walk by the Spirit rather than by the flesh.
Each temptation requires a choice about whether we will walk according to the flesh or according to the Spirit. God has given us His Word as power in our hearts against sin. When Jesus was tempted He answered with what is written. Hiding Scripture in your heart, turning to it immediately when the thought comes, and praying for strength to live a holy life before the Lord are the ways to stand firm. If you fall, confess it quickly and receive His forgiveness, but do not make provision for the flesh. Ask Him to help you turn away at the first enticement and to fill your mind with what is pure and true.
Let us pray together. Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy. We ask You to lead this dear one into Your rest through faith in Jesus and His finished work. Quiet the heart and grant deep, peaceful rest as trust is placed in You. We bring before You the health needs, the lungs and the heart that need healing, and ask for Your healing hand, for quick recovery if it is Your will, and for comfort and strength in the waiting. And we ask for victory over lustful thoughts. Give power by Your Spirit to say no to the flesh, to walk in the Spirit, and to use Your Word as defense. Create a clean heart and renew a right spirit. Help in every temptation to choose Your way. We commit all of these needs to You and trust You to act for good, in the name of Jesus, amen.
