Humble Prayer Warrior
Prayer for my wife, who is constantly watching my every move and interrogating me about everything. I want a good relationship with her, but it is becoming increasingly difficult because she doesn’t trust me about anything at all, and she spends most of the day making demands or being disrespectful to me in some way. She is consistently cursing at me, too. I am doing my best to make the right choices in our marriage, but every time I seek the Lord or pray with her, or return with kindness she just seems to use it as an opportunity to be rude to me. I am exhausted. Also, please pray for my dad, who has a lot of problems which I will not go into. Pray that he seeks the Lord.

We hear your heart, brother, and we lift you up before the Lord with deep compassion. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church, a love marked by mutual respect, trust, and selflessness (Ephesians 5:22-33). The pain you’re enduring is real, and the exhaustion you feel is understandable. Yet we know that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He sees every tear you’ve shed in this struggle.

First, we must address the sinful patterns in your marriage with biblical clarity. Your wife’s behavior, constant interrogation, disrespect, cursing, and demands, is not only unbiblical but deeply harmful to the marriage covenant. Scripture is clear: "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32). Her actions grieve the Holy Spirit, and they must be confronted with truth in love. You are not called to endure abuse or disrespect, even in marriage. While we pray for her heart to soften, we also pray for wisdom for you to set godly boundaries, as even Jesus Himself withdrew from those who sought to harm Him (Matthew 12:15).

We also rebuke the spirit of control and distrust that has taken root in your home. Trust is the foundation of a godly marriage, and where it is broken, repentance and restoration must follow. "Love… believes all things, hopes all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7), but love also requires truth. If she is unwilling to acknowledge her sin and seek change, the marriage will continue to suffer. We pray that the Lord would convict her heart and lead her to humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6).

Your efforts to respond with kindness and seek the Lord are commendable, but we must also caution you against enabling sin. Returning good for evil is biblical (Romans 12:21), but it should never come at the cost of your own well-being or the integrity of the marriage. You are not responsible for her choices, and you cannot change her heart, only God can. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or biblical counselor, to navigate this with wisdom. "Without counsel, plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed" (Proverbs 15:22).

As for your father, we lift him up before the Lord as well. The details of his struggles are known to God, and we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw him with cords of love (Hosea 11:4). May he turn from whatever is keeping him from the Lord and find peace in Christ. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). We pray that he would experience the freedom and hope that only Jesus can provide.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother and his marriage. Lord, You see the pain, the exhaustion, and the longing for restoration. We ask that You would move mightily in this marriage, softening hearts and breaking chains of distrust and disrespect. Father, we pray for this wife, that You would convict her of her sin and lead her to repentance. Help her to see the damage her words and actions are causing, and give her a heart of humility and love. We also pray for wisdom and strength for this husband, that he would know how to respond in a way that honors You while protecting his own heart. Give him the courage to set godly boundaries and the grace to extend forgiveness where it is sought.

Lord, we also lift up his father. You know the struggles he faces, and we ask that You would draw him to Yourself. Break down the walls that keep him from You, and let him experience Your love and peace. May he turn to You in repentance and faith, finding rest in Your arms.

Father, we declare that this marriage is not beyond Your healing power. We speak life, trust, and restoration over this home. May Your Holy Spirit fill every corner of their lives, bringing unity where there is division and love where there is hurt. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who makes all things new. Amen.

Brother, do not lose heart. God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Continue to seek Him, and trust that He will guide your steps. You are not alone in this battle.

We hear how deeply tired you are, and our hearts go out to you. Living under constant scrutiny and harsh words is draining, especially when you're genuinely trying to love and honor your wife as Christ calls you to. The fact that you keep returning with kindness, even when it's met with more contempt, shows real endurance, and we don’t take that lightly. Sometimes in marriage, the challenges don't lift quickly; they become a long road where we learn to pour out love from a place of deep dependence on God, even when the other isn't receiving it. That isn't failure, though it sure feels like it.

One thing that might help is finding a trusted pastor or a mature Christian couple to walk with you both. A steady, outside voice can often bring clarity and help both of you see patterns you can't see from the inside. There's no shame in seeking that kind of support; it's wisdom.

We're also praying for your dad, that in his struggles, he would turn to the Lord and find real hope.

Lord Jesus, this man is worn thin. Sustain him with your Spirit. Guard his heart from growing hard, and give him wisdom to know how to set healthy boundaries without losing love. We ask for a breakthrough in his marriage, soften his wife’s heart, uproot whatever fear or pain is driving her mistrust, and bring healing between them. And draw his dad to yourself. In your powerful name, amen.

You are weary and heavy-laden, and your soul is bowed down within you. This trial of a contentious and suspicious wife is no small thing; it cuts to the quick and would drive you to utter despair if the Lord did not hold you up. But know this, that the sentence of death is upon all self-trust, and the Lord has permitted this furnace that you might learn to trust not in yourself, but in God which raises the dead. If your heart replies, "I would do right, I have prayed with her, I have answered her harshness with gentleness, and yet she opposes me still," then you are being taught where your strength lies. It is not your wisdom or your patience that shall win the day, but the mighty hand of a covenant-keeping God. He who commanded light to shine out of darkness can shine into your wife’s heart and turn her bitterness to love. Only continue in prayer without ceasing, for the Lord is near to all who call upon Him in truth.

Consider the example of our blessed Bridegroom, Christ Jesus. He took to Himself a spouse who was not lovely nor amiable, but who was prone to wander, to distrust, and to speak harshly against Him. Yet He loved her and gave Himself for her, not waiting until she was worthy, but that He might make her so. Your marriage, though now a place of strife, is meant to be a shadow of that great mystery. When you return kindness for cursing, you are acting out the very spirit of the gospel. Do not be discouraged if you see no fruit at once; Christ has borne long with us, and we are called to bear with one another. Let the wife see that she reverence her husband, that is the command. But you, O husband, love your wife even when reverence is withheld, and trust God to work in her heart what no word of yours can accomplish.

Cease from all anxiety and lay your case before the Lord. Tell Him every fresh wound, every stinging word, and then leave it there. He who cares for the lilies of the field and feeds the ravens will sustain you and bring it to pass. You are exhausted because you carry the burden yourself. Cast it wholly on the Lord; He will give you rest. And in temporal things, go on in a quiet, prudent manner, showing yourself a man of integrity, and God will not forsake you. Happy is the man who trusts in the Lord and does not lean upon his own understanding.

For your father, pray without ceasing. The Lord is able to call the chief of sinners, and He bends the will when He pleases. Keep on pleading the promise: "Trust in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy." He is the God who raises the dead, as dead in trespasses and sins as your father may be, one word from the Lord and he shall live. So trust, and be not silent. The Lord will yet give you the desire of your heart as you fear Him.

And as for your own soul, see to it that you rest entirely upon Jesus Christ. If you would have strength to endure, you must first have Him as your own salvation. Trust in Him, not in your prayers or your efforts, but in His finished work. He is the Lamb who was slain, and He delights to take the weary and heavy-laden to His heart. Then, look forward to that marriage supper of the Lamb, when all sorrow shall flee away, and Christ shall present to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing. Till then, bear the cross with patience, for blessed are they that are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon you, give you peace, and revive your spirit day by day.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Marriage is a bond ordained by God, not a hindrance to virtue if you use it with moderation. You say your wife watches your every move, interrogates you, and curses you. Do not let her uncleanness overcome your cleanness; the believing husband may sanctify the unbelieving wife by his holy conduct. But if she bid you sin against godliness, it were better to part company than to break faith. Yet you are not at such a point, so continue in kindness and prayer. Follow peace with her and holiness, that is, a chaste and orderly life together, for marriage preserves holiness by forbidding defilement.

Do not bring the foul stench of the theatre or worldly mockeries into your home; those corrupt marriages and breed adulterous thoughts. Be a king over your passions: an old man who masters anger and desire is more royal than one in purple. Do not let her disrespect drag you into wrath; return her cursing with blessing, that she may be won without a word. Remember, the Lord himself attended a wedding and blessed it. He will strengthen you in your exhaustion.

As for your father, pray without ceasing that he seek the Lord. The same grace that can calm your troubled marriage can save his soul. Gain the kingdom not by escaping marriage, but by using it with a purpose fixed on heaven.
