Disciple of Prayer
Praying for my daughter who just found out her husband was cheating on her. He is lying about it and she is so hurt she's numbing herself on alcohol and cocaine which her husband provides They have three sons. ###, ###, ### I live with them and the dysfunction has me drained. I'm the only Christian in this house and I'm exhausted and need prayer. Thanks

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious family in fervent prayer. Father God, we cry out to You on behalf of this daughter who is shattered by betrayal, this husband who is ensnared in sin and deception, and these three young sons who are growing up in a home filled with pain and dysfunction. Lord, we ask that You would move mightily in this situation, bringing truth to light, healing to broken hearts, and restoration where it is Your will.

Heavenly Father, we first rebuke the spirit of adultery and deceit that has taken hold in this marriage. Your Word is clear: "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). This husband has broken his covenant before You and his wife, and we ask that You would convict him deeply of his sin. Lord, we pray that he would repent, turn from his wicked ways, and seek Your forgiveness and restoration. If he refuses to turn from his sin, we ask that You would remove him from this home so that this family may have peace and the opportunity to heal.

We also lift up this daughter, who is drowning her pain in alcohol and cocaine. Father, we know that this is not Your will for her life. Your Word tells us, "Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, which you are" (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 WEB). We rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of her, and we ask that You would break its power over her life. Lord, we pray that she would turn to You for comfort and strength, rather than to substances that only bring temporary relief and long-term destruction. Surround her with godly friends and mentors who can support her and point her to You.

Father, we are deeply concerned for these three young sons who are witnessing this brokenness. Your Word tells us, "Fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4 WEB). Lord, we ask that You would protect their hearts and minds from the trauma they are experiencing. Give them wisdom and discernment beyond their years, and surround them with godly influences who can speak truth and life into them. We pray that they would come to know You as their Savior and find their identity in Christ.

We also lift up the grandmother who is living in this home and carrying the weight of this dysfunction. Father, we know that You see her exhaustion and her heart for this family. Your Word tells us, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB). Lord, we ask that You would give her strength and endurance for each day. Fill her with Your peace and joy, even in the midst of this storm. Provide her with godly community and support outside of this home, so that she may be refreshed and encouraged. Help her to be a light in this darkness, shining the love and truth of Christ to her daughter and grandsons.

Father, we know that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You. "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB). Lord, we ask that You would draw each member of this family to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior, and soften their hearts to receive the gospel message. We pray that they would confess their sins, repent, and put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

Heavenly Father, we pray for reconciliation in this marriage, but only if it is Your will and if both parties are willing to submit to You and Your Word. If this husband will not repent and turn from his sin, we pray that You would grant this wife the strength and wisdom to make difficult decisions that will protect herself and her sons. Give her the courage to set boundaries and to seek godly counsel. Lord, we ask that You would provide for all of their needs, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

We also pray for this grandmother, that You would give her wisdom in how to navigate this situation. Help her to speak the truth in love, and to be a source of stability and godly influence in this home. Give her the words to say when she needs to confront sin, and the grace to extend forgiveness when it is sought. Lord, we ask that You would use her mightily to bring about change in this family.

Father, we know that You are a God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3 WEB). We ask that You would pour out Your healing balm on this family. Bring restoration where there is brokenness, hope where there is despair, and peace where there is chaos. Lord, we trust in Your sovereignty and Your goodness, even in the midst of this pain. We ask all of these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

To the grandmother who has shared this request, we want to encourage you with the truth of God's Word. You are not alone in this battle, and your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58 WEB). The enemy would love to see you grow weary and give up, but we serve a God who gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak (Isaiah 40:29 WEB). Keep pressing into Him, and do not lose heart.

We encourage you to seek out a local, Bible-believing church where you can find support and community. It is vital that you have a safe place to share your burdens and receive encouragement. Additionally, we urge you to pray for wisdom in how to address the sin in this home. Your daughter and grandsons need to see the love of Christ lived out through you, but they also need to understand the consequences of sin. Galatians 6:1 (WEB) tells us, "Brothers, even if a man is caught in some fault, you who are spiritual must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself so that you also aren’t tempted." While it is important to confront sin, it must be done with gentleness and humility, always pointing to the hope found in Christ.

We also encourage you to set boundaries for your own well-being. It is not wrong to protect your heart and mind from the toxicity of this environment. You cannot control the choices of your daughter or her husband, but you can control how you respond and what you allow in your life. Seek godly counsel to help you navigate these boundaries in a way that honors God and protects your own spiritual health.

Lastly, we want to remind you that our ultimate hope is in Jesus Christ. He is the only one who can bring true healing and restoration. Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep shining the light of Christ in this darkness. Your faithfulness in this trial is a powerful testimony, and we believe that God will use it for His glory.

We hear the exhaustion in your words, carrying this alone in a house where you’re the only one leaning on Jesus. That kind of strain goes bone-deep, especially when you love your daughter and grandsons so fiercely and watch them suffer. It’s understandable to feel drained. You’ve been a steady presence, and we’re standing with you now.

When someone else’s pain and addiction press in daily, it’s vital to have a place where you can breathe and be renewed. Are there any trusted Christian friends, even just one, you could talk to openly? A pastor or a women’s prayer group could also be a lifeline. Many churches offer support groups for families affected by addiction (like Celebrate Recovery’s family groups). You need a space where you’re cared for, not just the caregiver.

Your daughter’s choices are tangled in deep hurt, and her husband’s enabling makes it harder. But your steady faith and presence matter more than you can see right now. The truth has a way of surfacing over time. Meanwhile, simply keeping your own time with God guarded, even a few quiet minutes away from the chaos, can anchor you when the environment feels overwhelming.

Jesus, we lift up this grandmother who has been so faithful in a very hard home. Renew her strength and fill her with your peace that passes understanding. Protect her grandsons and draw their mother into real help and freedom from what numbs her pain. Bring trustworthy support around this family, and give this grandmother wisdom and moments of rest. We ask this in your name, Jesus. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

This hour in your household is an hour of crisis. The Lord Jesus is passing by, and it may be that the time in which your daughter will ever be able to find mercy is right now, while life and breath remain. The food that should have fed these children has been flung into the mouth of the lion, to be devoured by war. Do not think for a moment that her numbing refuge will stand; it is a refuge of lies. It will not hold trial by the first plummet, for it is not based upon the Foundation which God has laid. Your hope has nothing to do with Christ if it is found at the bottom of a bottle or in a line of powder. Come, be as children and believe your God, and may He help her stubborn and wicked will to yield.

It requires a patient disposition to deal with such grownup children, for what you could bear from little ones you cannot so well endure from those who have reached the age of maturity but not the age of discretion. Yet the Lord has dealt with us still as His own offspring, not chiding us for our many mistakes. The reason He is so patient is because we are His children, still His children. Even now, amid this awful sin, she is one for whom Christ died, and He hates putting away. Plead this before God’s throne: “Lord, she is Thy child, and I am Thy child.” Like as a father pitieth his children, even so the Lord pitieth them that fear Him.

You are drained, and that is no wonder. But your little grandchildren cost you much care and anxiety, and when they kiss you and tell you how much they love you, they may well do so, for that is all they can do now. They are little children and cannot run alone, and cannot even speak plainly. Well, they are alive. Let us not bury them, but let us nurse them. It is one of the duties of mature Christians to take these children and nurse them for God, for He will give you your wages. Where you dwell, let there be an altar. Let family prayer be maintained, even if you must go apart to your own room. A true daughter of Sarah is not afraid with any amazement; her holy patience proves her lineage. You are the salt of that home, and all hope for that little country lies in the true believer who dwells there.

The whole of their salvation, and yours, lies in Jesus Christ alone. We cannot wean them from reliance upon their own false refuges? Then we must look to the divine expiation. No limit can be set to the power that lies in the precious blood. My God, I see that Thou hast given Thine own Son to die, and surely in His precious blood there is more than sufficient reason for my faith in Thee. The “if” lies not with His ability, but with our trusting. Even now, when sin has revived and brought death into that home, you may understand where salvation lies. You have no merits of your own, and you do not need any. Christ has all the merits you need. Get them tonight. Trust Him for yourself, and for your poor, ensnared daughter, and for those three little lads.

The wound you suffer is deeper than any loss of gold or goods, for it is a wound in the household, a tear in the very fabric of God's ordinance. What your daughter endures from an unfaithful husband is a grievous evil, for marriage was established as a bond of holiness, not a playground for fornication. When a man gives himself to a harlot, he severs what God has joined, and the stench of it fills the home. Yet hear this: the greater danger now is not only his sin, but the snare into which your daughter has fallen. To drown her sorrow in wine and the devil's powder is to trade one defilement for another, making her soul a slave where once only her heart was broken. Marriage is not the cause of this ruin, but evil purpose using it without moderation. Wine and cocaine promise comfort but deliver only a heavier chain, all while the enemy of our souls laughs at a house divided against itself.

But you, the one who carries the light of Christ in that place of darkness, are not left without armor. You are weary because you see little fruit, yet remember, it is not your strength that holds the world together but His. When you pray, you invite Christ Himself into that home, for where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there. Pray for your daughter not with desperate wailing but with the steady faith of the woman who touched the hem of His garment, the one to whom He said, "Daughter, be of good cheer, thy faith hath made thee whole." She became a daughter by her faith. So too can your daughter be restored, if she turns from these false remedies. Remind her that the beauty of a wife is not in drowned senses but in gentleness, modesty, and a sober mind. Her husband's lies are foul, but her own intoxication is a fire she kindles in her own bosom.

Do not grow slack in doing good. You live among wild beasts, but the apostle rejoiced in bonds. Your marriage to Christ, the true Bridegroom, is not broken by the chaos around you. Let your own conduct preach without words: a quiet gravity, a refusal to partake in the madness, a table set with thanksgiving rather than excess. When you ask God to provide a way, commit the matter entirely into His hands, as Abraham's servant did, and He will honor that trust. Your grandsons see everything; be to them a shelter of order in a whirlwind of dysfunction. No stage-player or harlot brought confusion into that house, but sin entering in through a door left unguarded. Now the serpent coils around them all, yet the heel of prayer will crush its head.

I will not tell you the battle is small, but I will tell you the Helper is mighty. The very exhaustion you feel is an offering, if you lay it upon the altar. Cry out with the Psalmist, forget not the assembly of the saints in your secret prayers, and do not cease to speak the truth to your daughter in love, that she may yet see that the pleasure of sin is a fleeting shadow, while virtue and orderliness carry an eternal sweetness. May the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, equip you with every good thing to do His will, working in you that which is pleasing in His sight. Stand fast, and let not your heart faint.

Your words have reached the ears of heaven, and you are not alone in this battle. The weight you carry is beyond what any human frame was meant to sustain alone, but the Spirit knows your weariness and helps you in ways you cannot even put into words. When exhaustion steals your prayers and you can only groan within, those very groans rise to the Father as a perfect pleading for mercy, for the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with sounds deeper than language.

You are in that house as one set apart, the only child of God in that place, and that is no accident. Your presence is a lamp in a dark room, even when the darkness feels too thick to see. Do not despise the day of small things. Every quiet refusal to join in the sin, every prayer whispered in the night, every tear shed for your daughter and those boys is a sacrifice offered to the Lord. The world cannot understand how you find joy without its empty substitutes, but your life is hidden with Christ, and He is enough.

The enemy wants to drain you because you are the greatest threat to his hold on that home. Your daughter is numbing her pain with things that only deepen the wound, and her husband, instead of repenting, is supplying the poison. This is destruction wearing a mask, but the cross has already won the war. Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us. He bore all sin and brokenness so that no darkness is beyond His reach. Keep holding on to that hope the blessed appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. That hope is what keeps you going when everything else crumbles.

Do not let your love grow cold. Remember that love is the fulfillment of the law, and the love of Christ constrains us. It is not a hardship but a privilege to stand in the gap for your family. You are running a race for an incorruptible crown, not the fleeting prizes this world chases. They may think you are a fool for not playing along, but you are a fool for Christ’s sake, and that is no shame.

Trust the still, small voice when you do not know what to do next. God does not always answer in earthquake or fire; He often speaks in quiet nudges within your spirit. And He has not asked you to understand everything, only to believe Him. He is sovereign, and He has called you by His grace to be His child in that very house. Your prayers are a shield over those grandchildren, a covering that no earthly power can remove.

Do not grow weary in doing good. The tiredness and drain are real, but your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Pour out your heart before Him. He is the God who sees. And when you are tempted to give up, remember that to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Nothing can separate you from His love. Keep living for Him who died and rose again, and trust that His hand of blessing rests on that home because you are there, interceding.
