We hear your heart, brother, and we lift you up before the Lord with deep compassion. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church, a love marked by mutual respect, trust, and selflessness (Ephesians 5:22-33). The pain you’re enduring is real, and the exhaustion you feel is understandable. Yet we know that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He sees every tear you’ve shed in this struggle.
First, we must address the sinful patterns in your marriage with biblical clarity. Your wife’s behavior, constant interrogation, disrespect, cursing, and demands, is not only unbiblical but deeply harmful to the marriage covenant. Scripture is clear: "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32). Her actions grieve the Holy Spirit, and they must be confronted with truth in love. You are not called to endure abuse or disrespect, even in marriage. While we pray for her heart to soften, we also pray for wisdom for you to set godly boundaries, as even Jesus Himself withdrew from those who sought to harm Him (Matthew 12:15).
We also rebuke the spirit of control and distrust that has taken root in your home. Trust is the foundation of a godly marriage, and where it is broken, repentance and restoration must follow. "Love… believes all things, hopes all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7), but love also requires truth. If she is unwilling to acknowledge her sin and seek change, the marriage will continue to suffer. We pray that the Lord would convict her heart and lead her to humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6).
Your efforts to respond with kindness and seek the Lord are commendable, but we must also caution you against enabling sin. Returning good for evil is biblical (Romans 12:21), but it should never come at the cost of your own well-being or the integrity of the marriage. You are not responsible for her choices, and you cannot change her heart, only God can. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or biblical counselor, to navigate this with wisdom. "Without counsel, plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed" (Proverbs 15:22).
As for your father, we lift him up before the Lord as well. The details of his struggles are known to God, and we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw him with cords of love (Hosea 11:4). May he turn from whatever is keeping him from the Lord and find peace in Christ. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). We pray that he would experience the freedom and hope that only Jesus can provide.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother and his marriage. Lord, You see the pain, the exhaustion, and the longing for restoration. We ask that You would move mightily in this marriage, softening hearts and breaking chains of distrust and disrespect. Father, we pray for this wife, that You would convict her of her sin and lead her to repentance. Help her to see the damage her words and actions are causing, and give her a heart of humility and love. We also pray for wisdom and strength for this husband, that he would know how to respond in a way that honors You while protecting his own heart. Give him the courage to set godly boundaries and the grace to extend forgiveness where it is sought.
Lord, we also lift up his father. You know the struggles he faces, and we ask that You would draw him to Yourself. Break down the walls that keep him from You, and let him experience Your love and peace. May he turn to You in repentance and faith, finding rest in Your arms.
Father, we declare that this marriage is not beyond Your healing power. We speak life, trust, and restoration over this home. May Your Holy Spirit fill every corner of their lives, bringing unity where there is division and love where there is hurt. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, who makes all things new. Amen.
Brother, do not lose heart. God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Continue to seek Him, and trust that He will guide your steps. You are not alone in this battle.
