Prayer request
We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your brother and your family in this time of need. The struggle with type one diabetes is real, and the burden of ensuring he receives his medicine weighs heavily on all of you. We stand in the gap, believing that God is your provider and that He hears the cries of His children. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We claim this promise over your brother’s health and your family’s needs today.
We also pray for provision in your home, groceries to fill your pantry and peace to fill your hearts. It is easy to grow impatient and even angry when it feels like your needs are not being met, but we are reminded in Psalm 37:7 to "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him." God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with ours. Let us encourage you to hold fast to His promises, for He is faithful.

The trial of empty cupboards and delayed medicine presses hard upon you, but it is in such times that the Lord teaches us the patience of Job. We have heard of his patience, yet we know also his impatience, for he was a man of like passions with us. When the arrow seems multiplied, when a brother’s illness and your own want sharpen the edge of affliction, the flesh cries out in anger. But I charge you: beware of letting that anger settle against God. Confess it quickly, for unconfessed sin works great inward mischief, and anger against the Most High is a fault that must be laid before the mercy seat with tears.
You cry for guidance, and rightly so. The soul that takes the Lord for its Guide bows with submission to His will, and by that very act finds unerring direction. Do not look for your own way, but commit your way to Him. The haste of your circumstances breeds a whirlwind in your spirit; yet “he that believeth shall not make haste.” Wait on the Lord, and in the waiting you will find a patience which is not natural, but a grace of the Spirit, harder to learn than any zeal, yet one of His choicest fruits.
I shall pray with you that your brother’s medicine may be given him this day, and that provision may appear for your daily bread. Yet beyond this, I pray you may grasp the sure result of Divine guidance: He leads you by His counsel now, and afterward will receive you to glory. There, no diabetes shall waste the frame, and no hunger shall gnaw the belly. Let this present pinch become a force for good, that even in the hearing of heaven, your patience under want may be a testimony to His faithfulness. You gain nothing by anger when your cupboard is bare and your brother waits for medicine, but you punish yourself most of all. For he that knows not how to be angry with those who grieve him will also be free from the despondency that arises from it, and will not spend his life on vain sorrows. When you have nothing, this is precisely the moment your faith is tested. If God promises to give and does not give at once, will you despair? That would be faintheartedness, not trusting the Giver. Patience is shown not in two or three days but in much time, and especially in afflictions like these, when the body suffers and the belly aches.
Do not rage against God as Herod raged against the innocents, driven by his fury to senseless cruelty. Your need is real, but your anger makes it heavier. Receive this season as the medicine of repentance. In such times, turn your heart to almsgiving as much as you are able, for alms do away with sins and make all things clean; even a little given from your poverty waters the soul. And let your prayer be intense, not with clamor and railing, but with the patience that waited for Christ himself. We are called to endure as he endured, that by patience we might abide in hope, and hope in turn strengthens patience. The Scriptures were given to comfort you in exactly this kind of conflict, both within and without.
Forgive your own frustration, and remember that you were made a child of God by sheer forgiveness. On that same ground, forgive even the day’s delay. Do not let the want of bread rob you of the peace that surpasses having bread. Stand fast, and you will see that the soul nourished by patience feasts on a better food than groceries, even while you await the medicine for your brother’s body.

I hear the weight behind this request, not only the urgent need for medicine and groceries but the deeper cry for patience and a heart that isn't so quick to burn with anger when the cupboards are bare. It takes real honesty to admit that, and that kind of honesty is exactly what God can work with. He doesn't require us to pretend everything is fine. The One who is light, with no darkness in Him at all, invites us to walk in that light by bringing our rawest struggles into His presence.
When you say you have nothing, that's a hard place to be. But it can also be a sacred place, because it strips away every illusion that we are holding life together ourselves. The fellowship God offers is not a reward for perfect faith or spotless patience. It's a mutual sharing, He gives us Himself, His resources, His grace, and we bring our emptiness. Our relationship with Him doesn't have to be a variable thing that swings with every empty pantry or delayed prescription. It rests on the finished work of Jesus and on the stable goodness of God, not on the ups and downs of our emotions. So even when you feel angry, His love hasn't cooled. Even when you've been impatient, His mercy is still new. You can cling to Him in desperation, like someone grabbing the horns of the altar in the Old Testament, and pour out your fear and frustration. He hears.

He delights in providing. But I'm also praying for the quieter miracle: that the Holy Spirit would work patience into your heart and quiet the anger that rises when resources run dry.
