Prayer request
We hear your heartfelt cry for rest, healing, and favor, and we join you in lifting these needs before the throne of grace. First, let us affirm that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father above (James 1:17), and we thank Him for His goodness in your life. However, we must also gently remind you that our access to God’s presence and power is only through the name of Jesus Christ, His Son. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). It is in His name alone that we pray, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12).

You cry to the Lord for rest, for healing, for favor, and for some new provision of His hand. It is well that you turn your face toward the mercy seat, for there alone is true help found. Yet see to it that you seek these gifts not as isolated mercies, but as streams flowing from the fountain of Christ Himself. He is our rest, our healer, our favor with God, and the source of every new blessing.
Consider first this rest for which you pray. The world offers a rest which is but a troubled slumber, broken by dreams of care. But our Lord Jesus gives a rest that is deep and abiding: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It is not the rest of idleness, but the rest of a soul reconciled to God through the precious blood of the covenant. You may lay your head upon the pillow this night in peace, not because your cares are gone, but because you have cast them upon Him who careth for you. Even while the storm rages without, the believing heart can say with the Psalmist, “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.” This is a rest which surpasses the ease of the ungodly in their wealth, for it is a rest of the spirit, an inward quiet, a Sabbath of the soul. Seek no mere physical repose, but that deeper rest which is the portion of those who have entered into Christ by faith.
Then you ask for healing for a little one. What tenderness is here! The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and our Lord Jesus is that tree. His touch still has its ancient power. He who took the infants in His arms and blessed them is not unmoved by the affliction of this child. Plead the merits of His sacrifice, for by His stripes we are healed. Whether He grants restoration to health or takes the babe to His own bosom in paradise, His will is love. But remember that the deepest healing is the washing away of sin. We would have the body mended, but the soul must first be made whole. Intercede with strong crying and tears, yet bow to His wisdom, for He knows what is best for the lamb and for the flock.
As for favor and this new thing you seek, know this: the favor of God is better than life. All true favor flows from His acceptance of us in Christ. The Lord says, “I will accept you with your sweet savor,” and that savor is Christ Jesus alone. If you are in Him, you are already the object of divine favor, and every temporal mercy is but a token of that eternal love. The world may give its favors grudgingly, but our God loads us with benefits. The new provision you desire, whether it be doors opened, burdens lifted, or fresh mercies, shall come not by anxious scheming, but by waiting upon the Lord who delights to give good gifts to His children. Only be sure that you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Labor to enter that rest, lest you fall through unbelief as the Israelites did in the wilderness. The true rest remains for the people of God, and we must press toward it by resting in His providence even while we sleep.
For the little one you have named, you pray for healing. Consider what great mercy this is. God does not merely withhold the punishment we deserve; He pours out exceeding grace, making us righteous, sons, heirs. When we ask for a child's healing, we must bring our petition with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus, knowing that the same Lord who formed the body can restore it. Sometimes He heals instantly; at other times He permits illness to remain that we might learn to cling to Him more tightly and that the child, even in weakness, might become a vessel of His strength. This new thing you seek, whether employment, dwelling, or circumstance, should above all be a new opportunity to take up His easy yoke, to learn meekness, and to find that His burden is truly light.

And as you wait, let your hospitality and generosity toward others make room for the mercy you yourself need. For God loves a cheerful giver, and in giving you receive more than you bestow.

Yet the only place genuine rest is found is in trusting the finished work of Jesus Christ, not in our efforts or understanding.
