Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We join you in prayer for relief from pain and for peaceful, restorative sleep, and we bring your request before the Lord who hears us in Jesus name.
Scripture reminds us that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and that He watches over His children even through the night. Sleep itself is a gift from His hand. As we have taught, night is given as a haven from our ills and a medicine for our wounds, and God in His care has bound sleep to our nature for our good, to give rest even when grief and pain would keep us awake. He knows our toil worn frame and has compassion on us.
We also remember that Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises at midnight even while in pain and in chains, and God was near to them in that night watch. Whether He grants immediate deliverance or sustains us through the trial, He is present and He hears.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, through whom alone we have access to Your mercy. You see this pain and You know every sleepless hour. We ask You to grant relief according to Your wisdom and mercy, to ease what afflicts the body and to calm what troubles the soul. Grant peaceful, restorative sleep as You give to Your beloved. Let the night be a time of true rest and renewal, and let Your keeping presence guard both body and mind. Help us to remain watchful and sober in heart while also receiving with thankfulness the rest You provide. Restore strength for the days ahead and let Your peace guard the heart through Christ. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
