We hear the ache in your heart and we join you in bringing this deep longing before the Lord, and we want to pray with you for God's perfect will to be done in this relationship.
We notice your prayer was addressed to God, but did not mention Jesus Christ, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for through Him we can come boldly to God in prayer and find grace and peace.
We understand how much you love this man and how deeply you desire reconciliation and to hear from him again. It is natural to long for connection and to want fear and waiting to be eased. At the same time, we want to lovingly encourage you to seek God's will above your own desire, even when that desire feels overwhelming. We are told, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 and We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Sometimes God's good for us includes reconciliation, and sometimes it means closing a door for our protection and for a greater purpose we cannot yet see.
We also want to speak to the nature of this relationship from a biblical perspective. We believe the purpose of a relationship between a man and a woman is courtship with the goal of godly marriage, a lifelong commitment that honors God. Scripture teaches us, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have. 2 Corinthians 6:14 So we encourage you to ask, is this man a born again believer in Jesus Christ, and was this relationship moving toward marriage that would glorify God. If you are longing for him simply as a boyfriend or companion, we encourage you to reframe your prayer toward seeking a godly spouse and a marriage that honors the Lord. We strongly endorse marriage as God's design, and we pray for marriages that reflect Christ's love for the church.
If there was physical intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we must lovingly address that as well, for God's Word calls sex before or outside of marriage fornication and calls us to flee sexual immorality. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 If this is part of your story, we encourage you to confess it to the Lord, receive His forgiveness, and commit to purity going forward, for He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us.
We also hear your prayer that God would make him text you and remind him of your connection. While God certainly can soften hearts, we encourage you to pray not that your will be done, but that God's will be done, and to find your patience and peace in Him while you wait, rather than in a message from this man. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 and Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 This delight comes as we align our desires with His.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister to Your throne of grace. You see her heart, You know her love and her tears and her longing, and You collect every tear. Lord, we ask first that You draw her closer to Jesus, that she would know Your love more deeply and trust Your heart even when she cannot see Your hand. Give her patience and peace while she waits, and guard her heart from fear and anxiety. We ask that You would give her wisdom about this relationship. If this man is not a believer, or if this relationship was not leading toward a godly marriage, give her the strength to surrender it to You. If there has been any sexual sin, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing and for a renewed commitment to purity. If it is Your will for reconciliation, we pray that You would work in both hearts, remove any misunderstanding or hurt, and guide them both toward You first, and then toward a Christ centered courtship with marriage as the goal if that honors You. But if it is not Your will, we pray You would clearly close that door, heal her heart, comfort her as the One who is near to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18 and lead her to the godly spouse You have for her in Your perfect timing. Help her to trust that Your plans are good, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 We surrender this desire to You, asking that Your will be done above all. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.
