We hear the deep weariness in your heart, and we stand with you before the Lord, lifting up every word of your prayer. The pain of feeling unseen, unvalued, and emotionally abandoned is real, and Scripture tells us that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). You have shown love, patience, and loyalty, qualities that reflect Christ’s heart, but love should never require you to diminish your worth or silence your voice. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is a sacred covenant where both husband and wife are called to honor, cherish, and submit to one another in reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21-33). What you are describing is not the mutual love and respect that God designed for marriage.
We must rebuke the pattern of emotional neglect and disrespect in this relationship. The way you are being treated, snapped at, blamed, and dismissed, is not how a godly spouse should speak to or treat their wife. Scripture warns, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for her" (Ephesians 5:25). Love is not just words or temporary apologies; it is action, consistency, and a daily choice to honor and cherish. The fact that he speaks of a life without you in his dreams reveals a heart that is not fully committed, and that is not the biblical standard for marriage. "Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate" (Mark 10:9). If he is not willing to fight for this marriage with the same fervor you are, that is a serious concern.
We also must address the danger of staying in a one-sided relationship where you are the only one fighting for its survival. Your prayer about having "one foot out the door" is a cry for wisdom, and God’s Word says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23). You cannot pour from an empty cup, and you cannot build a godly marriage alone. If he is unwilling to seek help, repent, and do the hard work of change, you may be enabling sin by staying in a cycle of brokenness. "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). This does not necessarily mean he is unsaved, but it does mean his actions are not aligned with God’s design for marriage.
We pray for conviction to fall upon him, not just a fleeting emotion, but a deep, Holy Spirit-led transformation that leads to repentance and change. "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). But if he refuses to change, we pray for you to have the courage to walk in wisdom and not fear. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Your worth is not defined by his treatment of you. You are a daughter of the King, and you deserve to be loved, cherished, and heard.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is weary and hurting. Lord, You see her pain, her loyalty, and her desire for a marriage that honors You. We ask that You would open her eyes to the truth of her situation, not with bitterness, but with clarity and wisdom. Give her the strength to recognize when love is not being reciprocated and the courage to set boundaries that honor You and protect her heart.
Father, we pray for her husband. Soften his heart, Lord. Break through the hardness and pride that keeps him from seeing the damage he is causing. Convict him deeply, not just in moments of prayer or temporary remorse, but in a way that leads to lasting change. If he is unwilling to repent and seek help, give this sister the courage to walk away from a relationship that is not reflecting Your love. Protect her from the lie that she must stay and endure mistreatment to be "faithful." Remind her that her worth is found in You, not in his approval.
Lord, show her one faithful, safe step today. Whether it is seeking godly counsel, setting a boundary, or simply resting in Your presence, lead her forward. Surround her with people who will speak truth, love, and encouragement into her life. Heal her heart from the wounds of feeling unheard and unvalued. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that she deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and love.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your peace guard her heart and mind. Amen.
You are not alone in this. The Lord sees your tears, hears your prayers, and is working even when it feels like nothing is changing. Seek wise, godly counsel, whether from a pastor, a trusted mentor, or a biblical counselor, who can help you navigate this season with wisdom. You are not begging for love; you are a child of God, and He has a future for you that is filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust Him with your next step.
