My relationship is not doing good

Ethairroth

Disciple of Prayer
New member, but I just need prayer for my relationship I did something I shouldnt have done ( masterbated to another woman and felt guilty about it and told her). I can acknowledge my wrong doings and I truly feel terrible for what I have done. Its really hurt my relationship with my girlfriend, I can tell she really wants to work through it but shes shattered. We truly love each other and I just ask for no judgement for what I have done if thats fine. Im under so much stress from all this I just feel so exhausted. She has been hurt in the past from her previous relationship and I made a promise to her that I wpuld never do something like that to her but I failed and now just feel like just like her 2 exs. I wanted to be a good guy with morals pertaining to not masterbating to other women. To know more about me I use to be addicted to porn but have broke that cycle and been 6 months clean ( and counting). But I just ask if just anyone would pray ( or put us on the prayer lists at your church) for our relationship to comeback even stronger and healthier and the trust to be rebuilt. Im so guilty and ashamed of what I have done. And another thing off topic is pray that I dont have bitterness towards god, I grew up going to church every wednesday and sunday and over the years ive rebelled against him and so on. Guys I really need prayer for me and my relationship with my GF and myself in general to become a better man and I want to become a christain and not feel bitter at god anymore. I just ask not to be judged. Thank you everyone,

We have read your request and we are standing with you in prayer, thanking you for your honesty and for humbling yourself to confess what you have done. We do not come to condemn you, for we all have sinned and need the grace of God, but we do come to speak the truth in love because we want to see you restored and walking in freedom.

What you did in lusting after another woman and masturbating is sin before God, even if it was not physical adultery. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. This is not to shame you beyond hope, but to help you see it as God sees it, so you can truly repent and turn from it. The fact that you felt godly sorrow, confessed to your girlfriend, and feel terrible is a sign that God is working in your conscience. As it is written in 2 Corinthians 7:10 godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, and in 1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We commend you for telling the truth, for Proverbs 28:13 says he who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy, and for your six months of being clean from pornography by God's help. That is progress and we encourage you to continue to flee from sexual immorality, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 says flee sexual immorality and every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

We also want to address your relationship with your girlfriend in light of biblical principles. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God, and that the time of being a boyfriend and girlfriend should be courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to another Christian believer, not simply a dating relationship without purpose. If you truly love each other and want to build trust again, we encourage you to pursue purity and to seek God together about whether He is leading you toward marriage. The Bible teaches in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 that it is God's will that you should be sanctified, that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each one should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, and in Hebrews 13:4 that marriage is honorable in all and the bed undefiled. If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, that is fornication and also needs to be confessed and forsaken. Trust is rebuilt not by words alone but by consistent faithfulness, truthfulness, and walking in the light, for Ephesians 4:25 calls us to speak truth each one with his neighbor. Your girlfriend is shattered and carries wounds from past relationships, and we pray for her healing, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Rebuilding will take time, patience, accountability, and counsel from godly mature believers or a pastor.

You shared that you grew up in church but have rebelled and now feel bitterness toward God and you want to become a Christian and become a better man. We want to gently correct that bitterness toward God will only keep you in bondage, for Hebrews 12:15 warns to watch lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you. God has not wronged you, He has loved you and given His Son for you. You mentioned God but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and can be saved. As it is written in John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me, and in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved. To become a Christian you must repent of your sins, believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. This is how guilt and shame are removed and how you receive a new heart, as Psalm 51:10 prays create in me a clean heart, O God, renew a right spirit within me.

We also hear your exhaustion and stress. God invites you to cast all your anxiety on Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him because he cares for you, and Matthew 11:28 says come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us in nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this young man to You. We thank You for his honesty and for the work You have already begun in him to bring him six months away from pornography. We ask You to forgive him for his lust and unfaithfulness in his heart as he confesses it to You, to cleanse him by the blood of Jesus, and to create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Lord, deliver him completely from sexual temptation, give him strength to flee immorality, to make a covenant with his eyes, and to walk in purity. Heal his girlfriend's broken heart, comfort her in her pain, restore what has been broken, and help them both to speak truth in love and to rebuild trust through faithfulness. If it is Your will, lead their courtship toward a godly marriage that honors You, and help them to remain pure until that covenant. Remove all bitterness toward You, Father, soften his heart where he has rebelled, draw him fully to Jesus, save him and make him a new creation, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses understanding as he casts his stress and exhaustion on You. Teach him to be a man of integrity, to keep his promises, and to walk in Your ways. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Thank you for sharing so honestly with us. We hear how heavy this feels, the guilt and exhaustion, and how much you want to do right by your girlfriend after hurting her. It took courage to tell her the truth instead of hiding it, and to keep going after 6 months free from porn. That progress matters, even when a stumble makes it feel like you have lost it all.

What you are describing, feeling like a bad person rather than just someone who did something wrong, is very common when shame takes over. Guilt can point to what needs to be made right, but shame can make you believe you are beyond help. You are not. Wanting to become a better man and to find your way back to God is a good and hopeful desire, and we want to support you in that.

One next step that could help is to invite one trusted, mature Christian man or pastor to walk with you regularly, not just about the porn struggle but about your faith questions and the bitterness you mentioned. Having a steady, honest person to talk with can make it easier to stay consistent and to sort through what is weighing on you, and it gives you support beyond what your girlfriend can carry.

We are praying for you and have added you to our prayer list.

Father, we bring this young man to You in Jesus name. Thank You for his honesty and for the work You have already done in these months. Bring healing to both he and his girlfriend where there is hurt, lift the weight of shame, and give them clear wisdom for what is right ahead. Draw him closer to You, soften any bitterness, and help him grow into the man You created him to be. Give him strength to keep walking in purity and in truth. Amen.

Your honesty in confessing what you have done is not to be taken lightly, and the guilt and shame and exhaustion you describe show that your conscience is not yet seared. You have not hidden your sin in the brighter light of excuse, and that is right, for the lesson from the whole is this, be honest. Sinner, may God make you honest. Do not deceive yourself.

You are right to feel the weight of what you did. To lust after another woman, even in secret, is not a small thing before God, for the Lord sees the heart, and He calls that adultery in the heart. It is sin first against Him, and then against the woman you say you love. To promise faithfulness and then break it wounds trust, and the hurt is deeper when she has been wounded before. That you feel shattered and ashamed is the bitterness that rightly attends a sight of sin, the bitterness for Him as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn, when we see what our sin cost the Christ of God and the wrath it provokes.

Yet there is a blessed truth for you if you will receive it. If by faith you can believe in the sin forgiving God and accept the matchless Atonement which covers all your guilt, then you are even now among the blessed. God Himself has blessed you and neither men nor devils can reverse the benediction. It is God that justifies. Who is he that condemns. It is Christ that died, yes rather that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. At the very same time that the guilt of sin is taken away, the forgiven man undergoes a change of nature. He does not try to make his sins appear less heinous than they are. He confesses all their guilt and heartily humbles himself in the sight of God with a broken and a contrite heart, which God will not despise.

Take care that your repentance is not superficial, for God is not mocked. He sees through the film which seeks to hide the ulcer. True repentance is not only sorrow because you were found out or because your relationship suffers, but a hatred of sin itself and a turning from it and a determination in the strength of God to forsake it. It gives God glory. It says, Lord, I have no claim on You, I have no rights but the right to be punished, and it leaps for joy at the thought that God has set forth Christ to be a propitiation for sin. Repentance is the gift of God. You are not to draw it up from the depths of your own heart as water from a well, but to ask Christ to work it in you by His Holy Spirit through belief of the truth as it is in the Word of God. Look to Jesus. Look to Him bleeding and dying and forsaken, and that sight will beget repentance.

You speak of six months free from pornography, and for that we give thanks, for it is evidence of grace at work. Yet hear this word, can a man find joy in God who still clings to his vice. Will God receive into His favor those who continue to practice what He forbids. To handle a matter wisely is to find good, and the true way to handle a matter wisely is to trust God. That means not being idle, not being rash, but acting in all prudence and uprightness and relying simply and entirely upon Him. Flee every provision for the flesh. Put away every private source of temptation. Seek accountability, bring your struggle into the light with a faithful pastor or mature brother, and walk in the daily means of grace, the Word, prayer, and the fellowship of the church.

You ask for prayer for your relationship to come back even stronger, and for trust to be rebuilt, and you ask not to be judged. We love you enough to tell you the truth plainly and not to mock you with a false comfort. We cannot affirm, celebrate, or ask God to bless a relationship as if it were marriage when it is not. In Scripture, marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy and living together belong within it. To ask God to bless impurity would be to ask Him to contradict His own goodness. What we will gladly do, and what we will put on our prayer list, is to pray for you and for her as souls before the living God.

We will pray that God, who is not a dead force but a living God with a great warm loving heart, a thinking, active, personal God, will draw you both to Himself. We will pray that He grants you repentance unto life, creates in you a clean heart and renews a right spirit within you, and gives you faith to trust Christ alone and not your feelings or your griefs. Consider who this Christ is whom we bid you trust. He is very God of very God, perfect Man who lived a perfect life. When did He ever lie. He justifies the ungodly and cleanses the wicked from sin through His precious blood. Here is where God and you are at issue. You want to be saved by something in yourself, by being a good guy with morals, but God says He will save you if you trust in Christ. Only trust Him.

We will pray also that bitterness toward God is taken away. You grew up hearing the Word and have rebelled, and now you feel that bitterness. Know that the bitterness of the cross, when rightly seen, makes Christ very sweet. When you find God so kind, so good, so overflowing with compassion, you will smite upon your breast to think you could have rebelled against One who loved you so and sought your good. The goodness of God leads to repentance.

If you truly love this woman, then love her as God commands, with purity, honesty, and self control. Rebuilding trust will require more than words. It will require a complete change of mind about sin, a forsaking of lust in every form, truthfulness without guile, patience, and a willingness to seek counsel about whether God would have you pursue marriage in His time and in His way, or whether for a season you must walk apart to learn holiness. Do not use sinful means to keep affection. Trust your affairs in your Father's hands.

May the Lord grant you not a despairing repentance that leads to hardness, but a repentance that needs not to be repented of, and remission of sins in the name of Jesus Christ. May you trust in the living God who made heaven and earth and who sustains you by His mighty power, and find that to trust Him is to find good.

Im so heart broken everyone knowing I hurt her and her innocent little heart. Im crying as I type this. I feel like a monster, she is crazy about me and for me to be so selfish it makes me realize how masterbation is bad and dangers of it. Thank you guys for having a heart and caring for a couple you've never ever met before. It takes a pure heart to be that way. I just hope everything goes back to normal how it was before this ever happened. Please everyone that sees this just pray for me and my girlfriend. I dont want to be without her. We've both talked about getting into church. It would be for the best of us and help us. Thank you everyone that sees this ( and the ones that see this later and for your concern and help for someone you've never met, may god bless and be with all of you)
