Disciple of Prayer
Dear God, You know how much I love him and how deeply I want him back in my life. If there is still love between us, please soften both of our hearts and bring us back together. If he is busy, give him the time and space he needs, but please put me on his heart and remind him of the connection we share. If there is something keeping him from reaching out, please remove the misunderstanding, hurt, or distance between us. Lord, I want him to text me. I want to hear from him and know that he still cares. Please guide him toward me if reconciliation is right for both of us. Help me not to let fear take over while I wait. Give me patience, peace, and the strength to trust You even when I don't know what he's thinking. If we are meant to find our way back to each other, please open that door. Amen.

We hear the ache in your heart and we join you in bringing this deep longing before the Lord, and we want to pray with you for God's perfect will to be done in this relationship.

We notice your prayer was addressed to God, but did not mention Jesus Christ, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for through Him we can come boldly to God in prayer and find grace and peace.

We understand how much you love this man and how deeply you desire reconciliation and to hear from him again. It is natural to long for connection and to want fear and waiting to be eased. At the same time, we want to lovingly encourage you to seek God's will above your own desire, even when that desire feels overwhelming. We are told, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 and We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Sometimes God's good for us includes reconciliation, and sometimes it means closing a door for our protection and for a greater purpose we cannot yet see.

We also want to speak to the nature of this relationship from a biblical perspective. We believe the purpose of a relationship between a man and a woman is courtship with the goal of godly marriage, a lifelong commitment that honors God. Scripture teaches us, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have. 2 Corinthians 6:14 So we encourage you to ask, is this man a born again believer in Jesus Christ, and was this relationship moving toward marriage that would glorify God. If you are longing for him simply as a boyfriend or companion, we encourage you to reframe your prayer toward seeking a godly spouse and a marriage that honors the Lord. We strongly endorse marriage as God's design, and we pray for marriages that reflect Christ's love for the church.

If there was physical intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we must lovingly address that as well, for God's Word calls sex before or outside of marriage fornication and calls us to flee sexual immorality. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 If this is part of your story, we encourage you to confess it to the Lord, receive His forgiveness, and commit to purity going forward, for He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us.

We also hear your prayer that God would make him text you and remind him of your connection. While God certainly can soften hearts, we encourage you to pray not that your will be done, but that God's will be done, and to find your patience and peace in Him while you wait, rather than in a message from this man. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 and Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 This delight comes as we align our desires with His.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister to Your throne of grace. You see her heart, You know her love and her tears and her longing, and You collect every tear. Lord, we ask first that You draw her closer to Jesus, that she would know Your love more deeply and trust Your heart even when she cannot see Your hand. Give her patience and peace while she waits, and guard her heart from fear and anxiety. We ask that You would give her wisdom about this relationship. If this man is not a believer, or if this relationship was not leading toward a godly marriage, give her the strength to surrender it to You. If there has been any sexual sin, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing and for a renewed commitment to purity. If it is Your will for reconciliation, we pray that You would work in both hearts, remove any misunderstanding or hurt, and guide them both toward You first, and then toward a Christ centered courtship with marriage as the goal if that honors You. But if it is not Your will, we pray You would clearly close that door, heal her heart, comfort her as the One who is near to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18 and lead her to the godly spouse You have for her in Your perfect timing. Help her to trust that Your plans are good, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 We surrender this desire to You, asking that Your will be done above all. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

We hear how much you care for him and how heavy this waiting has been. Not knowing what he is thinking, checking for a message and hoping for a sign you are still on his heart, can make fear grow quickly and make the days feel very long.

That fear while you wait makes sense, and so does your prayer for patience and peace. Waiting well is not just trying harder to be patient on your own. It is learning to steady yourself day by day, bringing the ache honestly to God and letting trusted people walk with you so loneliness does not have the final word.

One small step that often helps in a season like this is to give the waiting some shape. Choose a couple of set times to pray honestly about him and about your own heart, and then step away from your phone in between. And let one wise, caring person in your life know you are in a tender stretch, so you are not carrying all of these questions alone. It will not take away how much you care, but it can protect your peace and give you clearer space to hear God's direction.

We are holding you in prayer for steadiness, wisdom, and healing in the days ahead, whatever God has next for you.

Father, we bring our sister before You. You see her heart and the love she carries, and the uncertainty she feels. Calm her fear with Your nearness, give her patience and clear wisdom for each step, and surround her with people who care for her well. Draw her closer to You and lead her according to Your good will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord, and the longing and waiting expressed in it are known to Him who searches the heart. There is a heaviness in waiting for a word from one you love, and a fear that rises when silence continues, and the soul is tempted to look to the changeable creature for its comfort.

Hear what the Scripture says, that there is a waiting God and a waiting people. Your God is not far off, but graciously waiting to be gracious unto you. When everything else has broken down, we find the Lord lovingly waiting, ready to pardon through Jesus Christ. Blessed are all they that wait for Him. And the counsel of the Word to your soul in this hour is this, My soul, wait thou only upon God. Not upon the arm of flesh, not upon a text or a sign from man, but upon the Lord Himself. For if your expectation is truly from God, it shall not be disappointed, for let God be true and every man a liar.

This is the first and chief reconciliation to seek. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Before any question of your being brought back together with another, there must be a settled peace between your soul and God through the blood of Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is not by our works or our earnest desires, but by trusting Him who poured out His life. If you trust Him, He will save you, for He always completes His own work. Take God at His word and believe Him, and you will find Him as real as if you could see Him.

Therefore I would not ask God simply to bless this relationship as you desire it, for love between a man and a woman is holy only as it is ordered according to His design, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with all purity and chastity kept within that covenant. Whatever has been of misunderstanding or distance, whatever has been of impatience or fear, bring it first to Christ. Ask Him to make your heart clean and to direct your heart into the love of God and into the patience of Christ. That patience is a precious thing, for tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience, and experience hope, and hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.

Brave waiting is your calling now. Wait upon the Lord and be of good courage. Waiting upon God sustains courage, for it brings the Eternal Spirit into the soul and makes the world and all its affairs to grow small in your eyes. Do not let fear take over while you wait. Fear and trust cannot long dwell together. When fear rises, look again to the Son of God and trust Him. He who has begun a good work will perfect it.

So let us pray not as those who would dictate to God what He must do, but as those who wait only upon Him.

O Lord our God, Thou waitest to be gracious, hear this soul who waits before Thee. Forgive sin through the blood of Jesus Christ and give perfect peace with Thyself. Direct this heart into Thy love and into the patient waiting of Christ. Take away fear and give faith, take away haste and give holy patience. If it be Thy will to open a door toward a godly marriage, let it be opened in holiness and truth, and if not, keep this soul close and content to wait only upon Thee. Teach Thy statutes, guide by Thy counsel, and let Thy will be done. Renew strength to wait upon Thee, that whether the answer be as desired or otherwise, this soul may mount up with wings as eagles and find rest in Thee alone. Amen.
