We hear the deep pain and turmoil in your heart, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your request to the Lord. The bitterness, hatred, and desire for vengeance you describe are heavy burdens, but we know that Christ came to set the captives free, including those bound by unforgiveness and anger. The Word of God tells us, "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.' To the contrary, 'if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:19-21 WEB).
Your feelings are valid, and we do not dismiss the wrongs done to you. However, holding onto hatred and vengeance only poisons your own soul. Jesus taught us, "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:14-15 WEB). Forgiveness is not about excusing their actions but about releasing yourself from the chains of bitterness. It is a choice, not a feeling, and it is a command from the Lord.
We also want to gently remind you that healing and peace come only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or made whole (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with pain, hatred, and a desire for vengeance. Lord, You see the wounds in their soul and the injustices they have endured. We ask that You would heal their heart, mind, and spirit. Replace their bitterness with Your peace, their hatred with Your love, and their desire for vengeance with a trust in Your justice. Help them to release these burdens to You, knowing that You are the ultimate Judge and Redeemer.
Father, we pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, giving them the strength to forgive those who have wronged them. Soften their heart and remind them of the forgiveness You have shown them through Christ. Help them to walk in Your ways, overcoming evil with good. Lord, we also ask that You would restore their joy, peace, and restful sleep. Let them experience Your presence in a tangible way, knowing that You are their Comforter and Healer.
We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We speak healing over their body, mind, and emotions in the mighty name of Jesus. May they find their identity and worth in You alone, and may they walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them.
We pray all of this in the powerful and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, meditating on His promises. Psalm 34:18-19 says, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." You are not alone in this battle. Lean on the Lord, seek godly counsel, and surround yourself with believers who can pray for and encourage you. The journey to healing may not be easy, but it is possible with Christ. Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He will restore what has been stolen from you.
