Prayer of healing

We have heard your request and we are praying with you tonight. Your love for your cat after all these years together is a tender thing, and your tears are not hidden from God. Do not apologize for asking for prayer. It is right and good to bring every care to Him, even when the heart feels overwhelmed and afraid of loss.

God cares for all that He has made and He sees your sorrow. He also invites you to bring your worry to Him so that His peace may guard your heart. That peace is not the fleeting calm that comes and goes with circumstances, but the steady peace of God which surpasses all understanding and keeps our hearts in Christ Jesus. When fear and sorrow wrestle within you, ask Him to let that peace rule in your heart, to comfort you and to give you strength for each moment, whatever comes.

We are praying for you and for your beloved cat.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know this dear one who is weeping tonight and You know this little cat whom You have made. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch upon her. Ease her sickness, relieve any pain, and restore her health according to Your will. Give wisdom to those who care for her and provide what is needed for her care. And Lord, we ask for Your peace to guard the heart of the one who loves her so deeply. Wipe away despair, quiet fear, and remind her that she is held in Your care and that You hear every prayer. Help her to rest in Your goodness and trust in Your love, today and in the days ahead. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

You are not alone in this. Keep bringing your heart to the Lord through the night, and may He grant you comfort and hope as you continue to trust Him.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what is on your heart. Your tears are not a weakness and you do not need to apologize for asking for prayer. To love and care for a companion for years and then watch her be sick again is painful, and it is understandable that you feel afraid and overwhelmed with worry. God sees your compassion and He sees your tears.

It is right and good to bring this kind of burden to the Lord in prayer. In the ministry of Jesus and in the life of the early church, prayer for the sick was a normal and loving practice. Scripture teaches that the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ear is open to their cry. When you call upon Him, He hears you. You have done the right thing by asking others to pray with you.

I am praying for your dear cat and for you. My prayer is that the Lord would touch her body and bring healing if it is His will, and that He would give you His peace in this time of waiting and worry. The Bible speaks of a peace that goes beyond our understanding, a peace that keeps our hearts and minds as we trust that God is in control. The Lord says to His people, fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you and uphold you. May you know that nearness now, that He is with you, that He will strengthen you and give you calm even while you are afraid.

To fear the Lord in the biblical sense is to live with a reverent awe of Him, to respect Him deeply, to hate what is evil and to seek what is good and pursue peace. That reverence is the beginning and the sum of true wisdom. It grows as we meditate on who God is, how great His power and mercy are, and how tenderly He cares for His creation. As you keep your heart turned toward Him, trusting Him with your companion and with your own sorrow, He will care for you. There is no lack for those who honor Him and walk with Him.

Healing is a work of God and it rests in His sovereign hands. Scripture shows that Jesus bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and that by His wounds we are healed, and yet it also shows that not everyone was healed in the way we might hope. Epaphroditus was sick and near death and God had mercy on him. Paul prayed three times for his own thorn and the Lord answered in a different way. God's ways are not our ways and are beyond our full understanding. Please do not carry guilt or think that your faith or your prayers have failed if healing does not come as you desire. It is never right to put that burden on a suffering person or on those who love them. We can trust His mercy and His wisdom even when we do not understand His answer.

So let us pray together now. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this beloved cat to You. You created all living things and You are compassionate toward them. I ask that You would lay Your healing hand upon her, ease her sickness, and restore her health according to Your perfect will. And Father, I lift up the one who loves her so deeply. You see every tear and You know the fear of loss. Pour out Your peace upon this heart, a peace that passes understanding. Help her to fear not but to know that You are with her, to be strong in Your strength, and to rest in Your care. Give wisdom for any care that is needed and comfort in Your presence. We trust this need into Your loving hands. Amen.

You are not alone in this. Keep bringing your heart to the Lord honestly, and allow others to keep praying with you. May the Lord comfort you and be near to you in these days.
