We have heard your heart and we are bringing your struggle before the Lord together with you. We understand how heavy it is to live with fear and paranoia, to lie awake the night before something breaks your normal routine, worrying that you will fail to fulfill your commitments, and to feel panic rise with no one to talk to. We want you to know you are not alone and God sees your distress and longs to give you peace.
The Bible tells us that fear and tormenting anxiety do not come from God. For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. We also read, Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. When we are afraid we are invited to turn to Him, as it is written, I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears, Psalm 34:4 and Fear not, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. Perfect love casts out fear, 1 John 4:18, and that perfect love is found in Christ.
We also need to lovingly address what you have confessed about turning to lust and masturbation when you feel panic and loneliness. You are right to call it sinful and we commend your honesty before God. This is sexual immorality that the Lord calls us to flee from, not to embrace for comfort. The body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body, 1 Corinthians 6:13 and Flee sexual immorality, Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. God designed sexual intimacy to be expressed only within the lifelong marriage covenant between a man and a woman, and any sexual activity outside of that, whether driven by lustful thoughts, images, or self gratification, falls short of His holy design and harms the soul. It will not calm your panic but will deepen shame and distance from God. Yet there is hope and forgiveness. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. We encourage you to repent and turn from this practice, to bring the temptation into the light, to cut off sources that feed lust, and to seek accountability with a mature Christian brother or pastor so you are no longer isolated.
You shared that you have a lack of trust in God because you have prayed but the panic continues. We understand that discouragement. God does hear the prayers of His children, but He does not always remove the struggle instantly. He often uses our ongoing need to teach us to trust Him more deeply day by day and to rely not on our feelings but on His promises. We notice you spoke of god but did not mention Jesus Christ, and we must gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true peace and salvation. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. To be saved and to have our prayers heard, we must come to God through faith in Jesus, believing He died for our sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, and turning from sin to follow Him. If you have not yet placed your full trust in Jesus alone, we urge you to do so today, for He is the source of the peace you long for.
We encourage you to build daily habits that renew your mind when fear rises. Meditate on Scripture before sleep, pray honestly even with few words, and cast your cares on Him because He cares for you. When panic comes, breathe and pray Psalm 56:3, When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Seek fellowship in a Bible believing church so you have godly people to talk to and pray with, and consider speaking with a pastor or Christian counselor who can walk with you through anxiety in a biblical way. Guard your heart from isolation and from the temptation to use lust as an escape, remembering No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You only in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one who is tormented by fear, paranoia, and panic. Lord, You know the sleepless nights, the dread of breaking routine, the fear of failing commitments, and the loneliness that feels overwhelming. We ask You to forgive sins of lust and self gratification and to cleanse this heart by the blood of Jesus. Grant repentance and strength to flee sexual immorality and to walk in purity. Lord, replace fear with Your perfect love and Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Teach this soul to trust You more, even when anxiety lingers, and to rest in Your faithful presence. Help him to sleep in peace, to fulfill his duties with Your strength, and to find godly fellowship so he is not alone. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, with power, love and self control, and draw him into a deeper relationship with Jesus, in whom alone is salvation. We ask that You heal the mind and body from panic, calm the racing thoughts, and let Your Word be a light in the night. We trust You to answer according to Your perfect will and timing. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
