Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and for asking for prayer. It is good to bring this desire before the Lord in the name of Jesus and with love, because He hears and He cares about every part of your life.
God created marriage as a gift for this life. The law that Moses wrote in Deuteronomy about a brother raising up a family for his brother who died without children shows how much God cares about provision, belonging, and the continuation of a name and a home. When some tried to trap Jesus with a question about a woman who had been married to seven brothers who each died without children, asking whose wife she would be in the resurrection, Jesus answered that in the resurrection people neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven, and He affirmed that God is the God of the living who will raise the dead. That teaching reminds us that marriage is a holy and beautiful covenant for this present life, between one man and one woman for life, and it is to be sought and cherished here with an eternal perspective.
Because marriage is so important, the best preparation is to be rooted deeply in Christ yourself. Scripture warns that those who live godly lives in Christ will face hardship, and that faith without root withers quickly like seed on shallow ground or among thorns. Growing up in a faithful Christian home and being carried to the fellowship of believers from childhood is a picture of what it means to be planted and nourished over time. Whether you had that kind of upbringing or not, you can now choose to be planted in the Word, in prayer, in fellowship with other believers, and in serving. A love that lasts is not built on fault finding or criticism, which marked those who constantly looked to accuse Jesus, and not on a shallow or demanding spirit. It is built on grace, on acknowledging our own sin against God as David did, and on receiving forgiveness through Jesus. And it is marked by costly, poured out devotion, like the woman who broke open her most expensive perfume and poured it all on Jesus, not holding back.
So as you pray for a wife, pray also that God is forming you into the man who will love a wife as Christ loves the church, with patience, kindness, and faithful commitment, and that He is forming her as well.
I join you in prayer now. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus I bring this brother before You. You know his longing for companionship and marriage. I ask that according to Your perfect will You would lead him to the woman You have prepared for him, a woman who loves You first, who shares faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, and who desires a lifelong covenant of marriage as You designed it. Give them practical ways to meet and to get to know one another in a healthy, godly, and pure way, surrounded by wise counsel and community. Give them discernment, patience, and perseverance, so that their interest in one another is sincere, committed, and not easily given up. Above all, work miracles in his life, the greatest miracle being daily transformation into the likeness of Your Son and the sure hope of resurrection. Keep him rooted, growing, and trusting You while he waits. May Your will be done in his life for Your glory. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord first, stay involved in faithful fellowship where you can be known and where you can know others, serve, and walk in purity. Trust His timing and His goodness, knowing that He withholds no good thing from those who walk with Him.
