We hear your heart in this painful time of estrangement and we join with you in bringing this relationship before the Lord. We understand how heavy it feels to miss him so much, to wonder if your last message was misunderstood, and to long for clear communication about whether he is genuinely serious about meeting you in person and not acting out of obligation. God sees your longing and your confusion, and He cares deeply for you.
We want to gently point you to God's design for relationships. We believe that romantic relationships are intended as courtship with the goal of marriage between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, a lifelong commitment that honors God. The Bible says, A man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh Genesis 2:24, and Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. If this man is to be your future husband, then this season of courtship should be marked by purity, honesty, accountability, and a shared desire to seek God first. We encourage you to keep this courtship pure before marriage, for the Scripture says Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to seek wisdom about whether you are both walking with Christ toward marriage rather than simply maintaining a relationship or partnership.
We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name that we pray and find hope, not only for this relationship but for eternal life.
In this estrangement, we encourage you not to let anxiety or the desire for this relationship become greater than your trust in God. The Lord invites you to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We are told In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We also remember that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3.
We pray together for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up our sister and this man she cares for. Lord, You know the words of her last message and the heart behind it, that she was not trying to end this courtship but to clarify and to seek truth in love. We ask that You would bring understanding where there has been confusion, and that You would let Your truth be spoken in love Ephesians 4:15. If it is Your will, soften both hearts, restore communication in a way that is honest, respectful, and honoring to You, and give them clarity about meeting in person with wisdom and purity and accountability. Help them to speak with words that are gracious, seasoned with salt Colossians 4:6, and to listen with grace. Lord, we pray that neither would act out of obligation or pressure, but out of genuine, godly intention. Above all, we pray for Your will to be done. If this man is the godly husband You have prepared for her, we pray You would guide this courtship toward marriage that honors You. If not, we pray You would give her peace to accept Your direction, comfort in her missing and longing, and strength to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness Matthew 6:33. Guard her heart from idolatry of this relationship and help her to cast all her worries on You, because You care for her 1 Peter 5:7. Draw them both closer to Jesus, and let whatever happens bring glory to Your name and growth in holiness. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and mediator, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray and to seek godly counsel, to guard your heart, and to wait on the Lord's timing. If communication is restored, pursue it with honesty, patience, and boundaries that honor God. If the door remains closed, trust that God is still working for your good, for We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. Keep delighting yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart as you align your desires with His Psalm 37:4.
