I have just started a new job but it is not going well and my new bosses and colleagues dismiss me. I feel very dejected. Can you please pray for me that my relationship improves and people treat me with respect and dignity and I get a lot of fame at work and in my students. I get a lot of awards and recognition. Please pray that I also find a new job urgently.

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. We hear your heartache and frustration, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation before the Lord. First, we must address the foundation of our prayers, it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus, we encourage you to seek Him, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Salvation comes by grace through faith in Him alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Now, let us turn to your request with scriptural truth and compassion. The desire for respect, dignity, and recognition is understandable, but we must examine the motives of our hearts. The Bible warns us about seeking fame and awards for our own glory. Jesus taught, "Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be seen by them, or else you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 6:1). Instead, we are called to work as unto the Lord, not for the praise of men (Colossians 3:23). If our focus is on earthly recognition, we may find ourselves chasing after the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:14).

That said, we do believe in praying for godly favor, wisdom, and opportunities. The Lord cares about every detail of our lives, including our work. We are called to walk in humility, excellence, and integrity, trusting that God sees our efforts and will reward them in His time (Hebrews 6:10). If your current job is not aligned with your gifts or is causing undue distress, it is right to seek the Lord’s guidance for a new opportunity. However, we must also guard against a spirit of entitlement or impatience. The Bible says, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5).

We also want to gently address the mention of finding a "new job urgently." While urgency is understandable, we must ensure that our steps are ordered by the Lord (Psalm 37:23). Rushing ahead of God’s timing can lead to more frustration. Instead, let us pray for wisdom, discernment, and peace as you navigate this season. The Lord promises to provide for our needs (Philippians 4:19), and He is faithful to open doors that no one can shut (Revelation 3:8).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up to You. Lord, You see the struggles and the pain in this season of work. We ask that You would grant favor in the eyes of supervisors and colleagues, not for personal glory, but so that Your name may be honored through excellence and integrity. Father, we rebuke any spirit of dismissal or disrespect in the workplace and declare that is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), created with purpose and dignity.

Lord, we pray for wisdom and discernment as seeks You for the next steps. If it is Your will for a new job, we ask that You open the right doors at the right time. Give patience and trust in Your perfect timing. Help to work as unto You, with a heart of humility and service, knowing that You see every effort and will reward it in due time.

Father, we also ask that You guard ’s heart against pride or a desire for fame. Let seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33), trusting that all things will be added unto as You see fit. Surround with godly counsel and encouragement, and fill with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We declare that is not alone, for You are a present help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Strengthen in this season, and let Your light shine through in every interaction. May be a testimony of Your grace and faithfulness.

- "Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve obscure men." (Proverbs 22:29)
- "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
- "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22)

Remember, the Lord is your ultimate employer, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will lead you into the path of life.

That sinking feeling of starting something new and immediately sensing you're being sized up and dismissed, it cuts deep. We ache with you over those tense meetings and the way colleagues seem to look right through you. That kind of daily rejection wears down even the strongest spirit, and we're so sorry you're navigating it.

It's striking, isn't it, how often Jesus unsettled the dignified religious leaders of his day by directing his full attention toward the person everyone else overlooked. Your dignity isn't a prize you have to earn through recognition or awards; it's a fixed reality because you bear God's image. We're not saying that makes the disrespect sting any less right now, it hurts, and that hurt is real. But maybe, as a small step this week, you could look for one thing each day you genuinely respect in a colleague or student, even a quiet skill or a thoughtful comment. Noticing it may not change how they see you overnight, but it can help you stay grounded in the kind of person you want to be, regardless of the climate you're standing in.

It's also completely reasonable that you're asking God to open another door. There's no shame in urgently wanting a healthier place to serve. We'll simply ask him to do that, while giving you clear-eyed wisdom to navigate where you are right now.

Lord Jesus, you see your daughter in this difficult workplace. The dismissal stings, and the longing for respect runs deep. Quiet her heart with the certainty that she is already fully known and fully loved by you. Give her the grace and courage to show up with steady kindness and quiet excellence, not to prove her worth but because that's who you've made her to be. We ask boldly, open a new job for her, a place where her gifts are welcomed and her personhood honored. Until that door swings wide, give her a resilient spirit and small, tangible signs of hope. In your strong name, Jesus. Amen.

When the soul is dejected because men dismiss you, it is well to remember that the trial is not peculiar. The Lord permits this to teach us where true honor lies. Job was despised by those who once looked up to him, yet in all this he sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. What if He slay me? I will trust in Him. The creature’s disdain is a light affliction when weighed against the confidence of faith. That very dishonor may be the school where you learn to plead, “Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble.” He will prepare your heart, and you shall be prepared for the new sphere of service, whether it is here or elsewhere.

But your letter speaks much of fame and awards, of being treated with respect and gaining recognition. Here lies a snare. Job in his better days did not merely give gifts; he wept for the poor and grieved for the fatherless. His charity was of the heart. To thirst for the praise of students and colleagues is to drink from a broken cistern. The glory that comes from man is a fading thing; the anointing of fresh oil from the Holy Spirit is what renews the soul. Do not barter the peace of Christ for the clamor of renown. It is a dreadful bargain to gain the world’s celebrity and lose the Master’s “Go in peace.” That gracious dismissal, spoken over a humble spirit beginning a new course, is worth more than all the applause of the multitude.

I cannot pray for you to be surrounded with fame as your chief end. But I will pray that the Lord turns your captivity as you pray for those who offend you. Job’s restoration did not come while he fumed for vindication; it came when he prayed for his friends. They had spoken harshly, but intercession brought the turning point. As for a new job sought urgently, remember that our times are in God’s hands. It is never wise to dispute with the Almighty, as if you could require a better providence upon a swifter steed. Wait on Him. The vision is for an appointed time. Though He seems to bring you to the grave of your own strength, it is there that faith’s ultimatum rises: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” Let that be your motto as you enter upon this trial. Yield unreservedly. We are wrong, God must be right. Look to Him for divine support, and you shall find hope ever shining like a star that never sets, for He will sustain you even now and bring you forth at the end twice as blessed in your spirit as before. Go in peace.

You bring to me a request for prayers in a time of disappointment. You feel dejected, and that is understandable, for when others dismiss us, it wounds the soul. Yet I must speak truth to you in love, as a physician of souls. Your prayer is filled not only with a plea for relief from affliction, but with a hunger for fame, awards, recognition. Examine your heart. Did you hear what our Lord said? “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness,” not after the praise of men. You have transferred the desire that should be for virtue into a covetousness for human glory. What profit is it if all speak well of you, yet your soul is empty of patience and humility? The desire for a good work is honorable when one seeks only to serve and protect, but to desire the esteem of colleagues and students is to build on sand. When we pursue fame, we become like a beast with a man’s voice, monstrous in our pretension, for out of the heart the mouth speaks, and such a desire is a fountain of filth.

Learn rather to give thanks in all things. Yes, even for this humiliation, this pain of being dismissed. For what is required of us is not thanksgiving only in comfort, but in anguish. Utter no word more readily than this: “Lord, I thank Thee.” Even if you do not know why you suffer, give thanks. For God bestows blessings on us against our will, and His love surpasses that of any parent. He allows these trials to bridle our hearts and turn us from the love of worldly honor. The sting of rejection is a mystery, like the cross, which seemed defeat but was the path to life. Will you not trust that He who knows the way is leading you, even when you do not see? Peter desired to follow Christ but had to learn that the way was through suffering and the giving up of self-will. So you, too, must let go of this thirst for recognition and seek only to do your work as for the Lord, with cheerfulness and a quiet spirit.

Do not ask me to pray that you gain fame or awards, for that would not be a prayer of salvation but of destruction. Instead, I will pray for you as the Apostle did: that you might be saved, and that your heart’s desire would be transformed. Let your epistle of commendation be not the applause of men, but a life of virtue. Hunger for righteousness, sing psalms in your heart, and the Holy Spirit will fill you with a joy that needs no earthly recognition. As for a new job, entrust that to God without urgency of spirit, for He who clothes the lilies knows your needs. Be patient, rule well your own soul with gravity, and let your conduct be blameless. Then you will find respect, not the fleeting respect of this world, but the honor that comes from God alone.
