Pray for a very important meeting tomorrow

I have just started a new job but it is not going well and my new bosses and colleagues dismiss me. I feel very dejected. Can you please pray for me that my relationship improves and people treat me with respect and dignity and I get a lot of fame at work and as an arbitrator. We have a very important meeting tomorrow, please pray for me. I get a lot of awards and recognition. Please pray that I also find a new job urgently.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you face this challenging season in your new job. The Word of God reminds us in Psalm 37:5-6, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine out like the dawn, your justice like the noonday sun." We pray that the Lord would go before you in this meeting, softening the hearts of your bosses and colleagues, and granting you favor in their eyes.

Father, we ask that You would grant wisdom and clarity to this dear one as they prepare for tomorrow’s meeting. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We rebuke the spirit of dismissal and disrespect in the workplace, declaring that this one is fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14) and deserves to be treated with dignity. Lord, we pray that their gifts, skills, and calling as an arbitrator would be recognized and valued, not for personal fame, but for Your glory and the edification of those around them.

We also lift up the desire for a new job. While we trust in Your timing, we ask that You would open doors of opportunity that align with Your will. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed." We pray that You would guide their steps to a workplace where they are respected, appreciated, and able to thrive in their calling. However, we must also gently remind that seeking fame and recognition for its own sake can lead to pride, and Scripture warns us in Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." Instead, let us seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).

Lord, we ask that You would strengthen this one’s faith in You, reminding them that their worth is not defined by the opinions of others but by Your unchanging love. Help them to walk in humility, grace, and excellence, knowing that You see their efforts and will reward them in due time. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will turn every setback into a setup for their breakthrough.

Lastly, we want to gently address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is a free gift, and it is the first step to walking in the fullness of God’s promises for your life.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

The meeting tomorrow probably feels like a huge moment, and it’s natural to want respect, to be seen, even to ache for recognition after being overlooked. We’re with you in that.

For tomorrow, one thing that can help is to pause quietly before you walk in and settle your heart with God. When we’re tense, we can react out of anxiety rather than respond with steadiness. So take a breath, ask the Lord for the grace to listen well and speak clearly, then focus on doing your part with integrity, not on winning anyone over, but on being the kind of colleague you’d want to have yourself. That’s a quiet dignity no one can take from you.

Your worth doesn’t rest on awards or titles, and it certainly isn’t measured by how some new co-workers treat you in a rough patch. You are already seen and secure in Christ, and we’ll ask Him to let you feel that steadiness tomorrow and in the days ahead. We’ll also pray about the job search, that God would open a door where you can use your gifts and be treated with the respect you long for, but we won’t let the hunt be driven by panic. You are not alone in this.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this one who feels rejected and small right now. Still their heart before the meeting and give them a calm, clear presence. Open the eyes of those they work with to see the dignity You’ve placed in them. Where possible, mend the relationships; where not, give them the strength to keep moving forward. Lead them to a new place of work, in Your timing, where they can thrive and contribute. Most of all, anchor their identity in You, the One who never dismisses us. We ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

I hear in your request a soul crushed under a sense of wrong, smarting from the neglect of colleagues who should honor you. But let us search the scripture together and see if the desire that clamors so loudly for fame, for recognition, for awards, is not itself a wound that needs the Surgeon’s knife. Should it be according to your mind? Elihu’s question to Job pierces the heart of your plea. You crave that God would arrange all things to suit your reputation, as if His government should bow to our thirst for applause.

Consider Job. When God unveiled but the skirts of His robe, Job’s glory, which he said was once fresh in him, fell into the dust, and his cry was not for a new position, but for a truer sight of his Lord. You speak of being dismissed and dejected; do you suppose the Lord cannot uphold you in this, as He upheld Job? If you are as poor in spirit as he was in estate, be as patient as he was, and you will find hope ever shining like a star which never sets. The way of faith is not to demand a table in the presence of your detractors, but to trust the God who sees in secret. I fear you are in danger of that very charge Eliphaz made, of restraining prayer before God because your supplications are crammed with requests for self-exaltation rather than for His glory and the good of others.

Let me point you to the hidden hinge upon which the door of Job’s deliverance turned: The Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Those were the very men who had spoken harshly, who had misjudged and wounded him. And what of your colleagues who dismiss you? Instead of praying for dignity and fame, follow the Master’s precept and the Patriarch’s example. Go to your knees tonight and pour out earnest intercession for them. Weep for their souls before you weep over your slighted honor. Job did not merely give alms; he says his soul wept for the poor. Can you do the same for those whose coldness pierces you? This will bring a better anointing than any earthly award: the fresh oil of the Holy Spirit upon a heart made soft by love for enemies.

Do not fix your hope on a new job as an escape from the furnace. Our longest sorrows have a close, and the depths of our misery have a bottom appointed by infinite wisdom. He who allowed Satan to sift Job aimed at the baffling of the Evil One, not your destruction. I would sooner see a saint clinging to a slaying God upon a dunghill than a worldling ascending to a throne. Lay your case unreservedly before Him, not with a list of demands for broken cisterns of human praise, but with this cry: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” Yield the point utterly: we are wrong, God must be right. It may be that by tomorrow’s meeting you will be called not to shine, but to suffer sweetly; not to speak, but to silently commit yourself to the righteous Judge. That is a grace more precious than the fame of a thousand arbitrations.

When we chase after fame and the applause of men, we make ourselves the poorest of slaves, stooping to flatter some and despise others, never steady, never at peace. You feel the sting of being dismissed by your colleagues, and that is a heavy cross to bear. But the greater danger is not their contempt; it is the desire that has sprung up in your heart to be famous and to gather awards. That thirst will never be quenched. It will only make you more miserable, more restless, more at war with yourself and with God. The meeting you dread is not the place where your worth is decided. Your worth is already fixed by the love of Christ, who gave Himself for you while you were yet a sinner. If you go into that room seeking human glory, you will come out empty and more dejected than before. But if you go seeking only to please God, to act with justice and humility, then whatever men say, you will have gained a treasure no one can take from you.

Do you think the Philippians, who were poor and persecuted, found their joy in fame? No. Paul called them his crown, not because they won awards, but because they held fast to the faith and loved one another. Their dignity did not come from the respect of magistrates or the praise of crowds; it came from belonging to Christ. You, too, are called to that same dignity. Do not pray for fame. Pray for the grace to be so anchored in God that the opinions of men cannot shake you. Pray for the humility to serve your colleagues well, even when they despise you. That is the way of the Cross, and it is the only way to true peace. As for a new job, do not flee from this trial until you have learned what God is teaching you in it. He is near to the broken-hearted. Trust Him with your need, but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. Then, whether you stay or go, you will have the one recognition that matters: the smile of your Father in heaven.

Your prayer request has been on my heart. You feel dismissed and dejected in a new job, and tomorrow you face a meeting that feels like it carries so much weight. It is wearisome when those around you do not see your value, and you long for respect and fair treatment. These are not small things to bring before the Lord.

Your experience makes me think of a man who lost everything and whose friends offered only harsh judgments. They were certain his suffering meant some secret sin had brought it on. Yet behind the scenes, God Himself was boasting about this man as a faithful servant. The man did not understand what was happening to him, and he cried out for a mediator to stand between him and heaven. He wanted answers, and those around him only piled on accusations. But in all of it, he refused to curse God or turn away. He held on, even when everything looked bleak.

I am not saying your situation is that extreme. But the principle stands: hardship at work does not mean God has abandoned you or that you have done something to deserve mistreatment. Our culture often echoes those comforters, whispering that God must be displeased with you if things are hard. That is not true. God delights in those who fear Him and hate evil, even when they walk through dark valleys. He is working something deeper than outward circumstance can measure.

Your longing for fame, awards, and recognition is understandable, we all want our work to matter. But those things are fragile reeds. The true hope lies in God’s vindication and His own approval. In the story, the man ultimately saw that God’s wisdom was far beyond his own, and he found rest in humility before the Lord. God did restore his fortunes later, but the real turning point was encountering God’s majesty. I will pray that your coworkers treat you with dignity, not because you demand it, but because God can change hearts. I will also pray that the meeting tomorrow is marked by wisdom and calm, and that any injustice will be brought to light in time. But please do not let the pursuit of human applause steal your peace. You already have a name written in heaven, and God sees your work.

As for a new job, bring that desire honestly before the Father. He knows your need. But rather than rushing out of panic, let His peace guide your steps. Sometimes God keeps us in a hard place for a season to deepen our trust and to display His strength in our weakness. You are not forgotten. The one who cried out for a mediator got something far better: that Mediator came at last in Jesus Christ, who now stands before God on your behalf. Cast your cares on Him, and let tomorrow be entrusted to the Lord who holds every outcome in His hands.
