The anguish in your heart cries out, and the Lord hears it. Do not imagine that He is far from your sister's bedside, for He who once saw the multitudes fainting for hunger and would not send them away empty still looks upon the suffering with the same compassion. Cry out to Him without ceasing, not only with your voice but with your life, for a living faith is louder than any words.
Yet as you plead for her body, plead still more for her soul. The body, even if restored, will one day return to dust, but the soul endures forever. This sudden trial is a call to examine what is eternal. Even at the very gates of death, there is time for the Sun of Righteousness to melt the frost of sin and bring forth living water. How many have seemed beyond hope, yet one moment of true turning has poured precious ointment on the Lord's head and received mercy? Do not despair; bring her before the throne with tears, but also with trust in the God who raises the dead.
Remember that for those who belong to Christ, every suffering is an opportunity to bear about the dying of the Lord Jesus, so that His life may also be manifested. Whether He calls her back to health or draws her into His presence, let your chief prayer be that she be found in Him, sanctified and called a saint, with all who call upon His name. We believe, and therefore we speak: He who raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise us up also. In this hope, let the grace of God multiply through your steadfastness, and may thanksgiving abound to His glory.
