Please pray for my relationship with god

My relationship with god is lukewarm and it’s been like this for a year and I was hoping that someone can pray to help me fully surrender to god

We hear your heart and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord, because we know He hears the honest cry of His children who want to be close to Him again. You have been candid that your relationship with God has felt lukewarm for a year and that you long to fully surrender, and we thank God for that holy dissatisfaction, for it shows His Spirit is still drawing you.

We must speak truthfully with you about lukewarmness, because Scripture warns us of its seriousness. The Lord says in Rev 3:15-16, I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth. This is not to condemn you but to lovingly rebuke and awaken us, for the Lord also says in Rev 3:19, As many as I love, I reprove and chasten. Be zealous therefore, and repent. God does not want partial surrender or a divided heart, He desires that we love Him with all that we are, as Jesus said in Matt 22:37, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. To fully surrender means to present our whole lives to Him, as we are urged in Rom 12:1, Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. That is dying to self, turning from sin, and choosing daily obedience even when our feelings are cold.

We also noticed you spoke of your relationship with God but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we can come to the Father at all and find that intimate relationship restored. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And we are told in Acts 4:12, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for it is through His blood that we have forgiveness and access to God. Even as believers we must continually come through Jesus, not through our own effort.

We want to encourage you that God promises to meet you when you seek Him wholeheartedly. We are told in James 4:8, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded. And in Jer 29:13, You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Full surrender is not a single moment but a daily choosing to seek Him through prayer, through feeding on His Word, through turning away from what dulls your heart, and through fellowship with other believers who will keep you accountable. Ask the Lord to show you what you have been holding back, whether it is sin, distraction, disappointment, or fear, and confess it openly to Him.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one who is weary of lukewarmness and longs to be fully Yours. Forgive us for the times we have all held back part of our hearts from You. We ask You to create in this one a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within. Pour out Your Holy Spirit to stir a hunger for Your Word and for prayer, and help them to present their body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You. Break the power of apathy and distraction, and draw them near as they draw near to You. Teach them to love You with all their heart, soul, and mind, and to find joy in obedience. We pray they would know with assurance the salvation that is only in Jesus, and that through Him they would walk in close, abiding fellowship with You all the days of their life. Restore the joy of Your salvation and uphold them with a willing spirit. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We appreciate you sharing this so honestly. Feeling lukewarm for a year can be discouraging, and the fact you want to surrender more fully matters to God. He sees that desire even when your feelings feel flat.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of season is to stop thinking of surrender as something you have to force all at once. It is more like training than trying. A marathon runner does not get ready by one big effort, but by small, regular steps over time that slowly reshape strength and endurance. Your walk with God can grow the same way, through small faithful practices done consistently, seeing yourself as a work in progress that God is patiently forming.

A simple next step that often helps is to choose one small, sustainable rhythm rather than trying to overhaul everything. For the next few weeks, set aside ten minutes at the same time each day, just you and the Lord, to pray honestly and read a little Scripture, and consider asking one trusted believer to know you are doing this and to check in with you.

Father, we bring our friend to You and thank You for the hunger You have placed in their heart for You. Draw them close, soften what feels lukewarm, and teach them to walk with You day by day in trust and surrender. Give them grace for the process and joy in knowing You are at work. In Jesus name, amen.

Your confession of a lukewarm heart that has lingered for a year is itself a token that the Lord has not left you to be content in that chill. We grow lukewarm and then God hides His face, and many a true child of God has sighed out of the depth of his spirit, Oh that I knew where I might find Him. The very uneasiness you feel, the desire to fully surrender, is a gift of sovereign grace. The desire to come to God, the way to come to God, the power to come to God, the actual coming to God, these are all gifts of His mercy, and even to seek Him, however feebly, is well pleasing in His sight.

Hear the word of the Lord, Submit yourselves unto God. This is not a partial yielding but an unconditional surrender. It means first to exercise humility, to lay down every proud pretension and to confess that without Christ you can do nothing. It means to have the soul entirely submitted to God about everything, so that you never wish to have anything in providence other than God would have it to be, nor desire to have anything in His Word altered. You cannot hold back a reserve and be at peace. Yield yourself wholly to Him who is your God, your Father, your Friend.

And remember that without faith it is impossible to please God, for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Faith is essential to converse with the living God. The man who has no faith can no more commune with God than a stone can hold converse with the human mind. There is only one way of coming to Him, and you must have faith to use that way, for Christ says, I am the Way, no man comes unto the Father but by Me. Your nearness to God is not by your warmth of feeling but by being one with Christ, who is Himself God and who gave Himself for sinners, the Just for the unjust, to bring us to God. We draw near to God at the mercy seat through His blood, and there our lukewarmness is met with His perfect acceptance.

Therefore I charge you to look to Jesus on the cross, as Israel in the wilderness, bitten by the serpents, looked to the bronze serpent and by that look lived. He is not dead, He is risen, and He will cast out none that come to Him by faith. Though your faith may be little, little faith still saves, and the Lord tenderly commends it, yet He would give you more. He gives more grace. Cry to Him for stronger faith, a faith that does not rise and fall with the wind but rests on the faithful God who performs all things for you and who will perfect that which concerns you until the day of Christ.

We will pray for you, and we join our hearts with yours now.

O gracious Father, we thank You that this soul is not content to remain afar off. Forgive the lukewarmness and the divided heart, and grant the grace of true repentance and simple faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Help this dear soul to submit wholly unto You in humility and love, to believe that You are and that You are a rewarder of them that diligently seek You. Draw near through the blood of Christ, and teach a holy familiarity with You in prayer and in the Word. Search and try the heart, revive love where it has grown cold, and give more grace and stronger faith to honor You and to be useful in Your service. Keep this one by Your power and perfect Your work, that there may be full assurance and a life wholly yielded to You. In the name of Jesus our Mediator and Way, Amen.

Continue to seek Him diligently, acquaint yourself now with Him and be at peace, and trust that He who has begun a good work will not forsake the work of His own hands.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honesty in sharing that your relationship with God has felt lukewarm for a year is itself a grace, and your desire to fully surrender to Him is good and right before Him.

Scripture teaches that faith needs a generous and vigorous soul, one that rises above what we can see and feel and passes beyond the weakness of human reasoning. When our hearts grow cold or divided, the Lord gently names it as little faith, not to shame us but to call us higher. True faith is to be fully persuaded that what God has promised He is able also to perform, trusting His power even when we cannot measure it by our own understanding. We are saved through faith because God in His mercy willed to save us in this way, and that living faith is never barren but bears fruit in a life that seeks to glorify Him.

So I pray for you that God will move you from lukewarmness to fervent love. May He grant you peace with Himself and love with faith, so that you have a cheerful confidence in His promises. May you know more deeply that you are raised with Christ through faith in the working of God who raised Him from the dead, and may that faith lead you into full surrender to Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. May He give you strength to seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to turn from whatever holds you back, and to walk in obedience that glorifies the Father.

Father, in the name of Jesus, draw this heart fully to Yourself. Forgive coldness of heart, renew a steadfast spirit, and grant grace to surrender completely and follow You with joy and faithfulness. Amen.
