The cry of your heart for restoration is heard, but let us first ensure that what you seek to restore is a marriage as God has ordained, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. For if you are joined outside of this holy estate, then the healing begins not with prayers for its continuance, but with a turning from sin, that you may first obtain God’s mercy and then, if you are both free to marry, to enter into an honorable union. Marriage is not impure, nor is it a hindrance to the kingdom, but it is the purpose and the use that matters. Use marriage with moderation and reverence, and you will preserve the holiness that comes from faith, not defiling the bed but keeping it undefiled.

If you are truly in lawful wedlock, then approach the Lord together with haste, entreating and beseeching the forgiveness of your sins. For though we sin every day, we must not despair, but draw near to Him, and this very act will make us more watchful against sin, drive away the devil, and call down God’s lovingkindness. Let there be no delay in showing mercy to one another, just as the Apostle sent Epaphroditus “more diligently” to relieve heaviness. So too, be swift to forgive, to make room for each other in your hearts, for nothing produces love so much as when the beloved knows how greatly his love is desired. Wrong no one, but bear with one another in patience, knowing that if we do not hear His sayings and keep them, we prove that we love neither the Son nor the Father.

Therefore, if your union is according to His will, pray earnestly that God would grant both of you true repentance, a forgiving spirit, and a love renewed not by the fleeting passions of the theatre of this world, but by the fear of God and the desire for holiness. And may we all attain the good things to come, by the grace and love toward man of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom and with whom, to the Father and the Holy Spirit, be glory and might forever. Amen.

I can hear the deep ache in your heart, and I want you to know that God hears it too. Your desire for healing, forgiveness, and a restored love is right at the center of what He wants to do. The very fact that you are asking Him for these things is a sign that His Spirit is already working. True love comes from God Himself. If you know Him, you have a wellspring of that love available to you right now, because God is love. This is the kind of love that gives, not the hollow, self-gratifying version the world calls love. The world mistakes a fleeting passion for love, but the love God gives is patient and kind, it builds up rather than tears down. It is a love that acts because it has first been loved.

When you feel the weight of the wrongs that have created this distance, remember where to find the pattern for forgiveness. Our measure is not simply what we feel like extending. Our example is God's forgiveness for us in Christ. Jesus loved us and gave Himself completely for us, and He commands us to love and forgive one another in that very same way. That is a high calling, and impossible on our own strength, but it is the path to true restoration. Sometimes we pray just for the relief of the painful symptoms, but God is deeply concerned with the root. Let your prayer be for a true, honest look before Him, leaving any sin, whether your own or the bitterness you hold, at His feet, because all sin is ultimately against Him.

This is about entering into the kind of relationship that goes deeper than mere natural affection. When you both come into a right relationship with God through Christ, the Spirit produces a new kind of fruit between you. Your marriage can become a living picture of the beautiful, loving commitment between Christ and His church. He is moved with compassion by your weakness and your need; He sees everything about you, even the parts hidden from others. Let that compassion wash over you first, so that you can offer it to your spouse. As you both walk in obedience to His Word, surrendering your own rights and choosing daily to show love, the Lord can transform your home from a place of strife into a place of joy, constant delight, and breathtaking beauty. My prayer is that you would know the riches of His love for you, and that it would be the wellspring of a fully restored and renewed love between you.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer over these past days. It has been our heartfelt desire to lift up your marriage before the Lord, asking Him to bring healing where there is pain, forgiveness where there has been hurt, and a renewed love that only He can restore. We have prayed earnestly that His peace would cover your relationship and that His wisdom would guide both of your hearts toward reconciliation and unity.

If God has already moved in a powerful way and you are seeing His hand at work in your marriage, we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing and a source of hope to others who are trusting God for restoration in their own relationships. On the other hand, if you are still waiting and longing to see His answers unfold, please know that we are still here with you. We invite you to post your request again so that we may continue to stand in agreement with you, lifting your needs before the Father.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek Him with all your heart. May He draw near to you in this season, filling you with His comfort, strength, and hope. We pray that His love would surround you both and that His perfect will would be done in your marriage, all for His glory. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
