Please help me pray.

Beloved of All
I do not know where to start. My heart is weary. I'm constantly anxious and full of fear. I have been praying for a miraculous job for close to ### years now, and I'm almost giving up. Every day is a battle of tears and constantly reminding God that I'm still here, waiting. I do not want to give up Him and Myself.

We hear your weariness and we join with you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord together in Jesus name. To feel anxious and full of fear day after day, to weep and to wait for years for a job while wondering if God still sees you, is a deep trial, and we want you to know that He does see you and He has not forgotten you.

The Word tells us to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us, 1 Pet 5:7, and to not be anxious in anything but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving to let our requests be made known to God, Phil 4:6-7. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We also cling to His promise when you are afraid, do not be afraid for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, yes I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isa 41:10. Jesus Himself invites you when you are weary, come to me all you who labor and are heavily burdened and I will give you rest, Matt 11:28.

Waiting for so long can make the heart sick, but God honors perseverance. We are told do not be weary in doing well for in due season we will reap if we do not give up, Gal 6:9, and wait for Yahweh, be strong and let your heart take courage, yes wait for Yahweh, Ps 27:14. Even your tears are not wasted, for when your heart is overwhelmed you can cry to Him and He will lead you to the rock that is higher than you, Ps 61:2. Those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength, they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not be weary, they will walk and not faint, Isa 40:31. God is working even in this waiting, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose, Rom 8:28, and His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you hope and a future, Jer 29:11.

We notice you spoke of reminding God that you are still here and of not wanting to give up on Him, but you did not mention the name of Jesus. We gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6, and there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God in His name, for whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved, Rom 10:13. It is in Jesus name that our prayers are heard and our weariness finds true rest.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this precious weary heart to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see every tear and You hear every prayer whispered over these years of waiting. Lord we ask You to calm this fear and anxiety and to replace it with Your perfect peace that guards heart and mind. Strengthen this weary one so that they will not give up, renew their hope and remind them daily that You are near and that You care. Provide the work that You have prepared, open the doors that no man can shut, and give wisdom and favor in every application and interview. Help them to trust Your timing which is perfect, and to find rest not only in the answer but in You. Draw them closer to Jesus, let them know the depth of Your love and the assurance of salvation through Him alone. Let them wait with courage and expectation. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him daily in His Word and in prayer in Jesus name, to be honest with Him about your fear as the psalmists were, and to take practical steps as you wait, letting trusted believers walk with you and counsel you and letting your needs be known to others who may help open doors. God has not abandoned you and you are not forgotten. Keep holding on to Him, for He is holding on to you.

We hear how weary your heart is after praying for years and still waiting. Facing each day with tears and fear while continuing to tell God you are still here is exhausting, and it is understandable that anxiety feels constant right now. Please know you are not forgotten in this long wait, and the desire you named, to not give up on God and not give up on yourself, is a meaningful place to stand even when strength feels thin.

We want to walk with you in this. When anxiety stays heavy for a long time it can help to share it with someone in person, not just in prayer. If you can, consider talking openly with a trusted pastor or counselor, and with your doctor if the fear, tension and sleeplessness feel overwhelming, so you have support alongside prayer.

For the job search, a gentle next step can be to make the days a little smaller. Rather than holding the whole outcome each morning, choose one simple action for the day, like contacting one person or looking at one opportunity, and then allow yourself to step away and rest. You do not have to solve years of waiting in one day.

Father, we bring our friend before You. You see the weariness, the tears and the years of waiting. Give comfort today, quiet the fear, and give wisdom and steady strength for each next step. Remind this heart that You are near and that You care. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Years of waiting while fear hums underneath everything would wear anyone down. If a quiet 13 minutes sounds welcome, the Limbic System Repatterning Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel is spoken gently over calming fear and settling the mind, and you only have to listen. I hope the door opens soon, and that tonight feels a little lighter.

Your weariness and tears have not been hidden from the Lord, and your honest confession that you do not know where to start is itself a prayer which He understands. To be constantly anxious and full of fear and to feel that every day is a battle, and yet to say I do not want to give up Him and myself, is a mark that grace is still at work in your heart.

There is a waiting God, and He waits that He may be gracious unto you. While you have been waiting these long years for open doors, He has been waiting to show mercy in His own perfect time. His people are not waiting in despair, nor even in hesitation, they are waiting in hope, a joyous and assured hope of blessedness in reserve. Christ will deal with you in the same manner, while you are waiting He will not let you die. Oh, in what wonderful ways does the Lord support His own when through weary years they are seeking His face. He has heard you when you have reminded Him that you are still here, for not a sigh escapes His notice.

Hear the word which grows so plentifully in God's garden, Fear not. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed for I am thy God. You must labor to get rid as much as possible of this fear, for fear is weakening and fear dishonors God. Shall we doubt the Eternal and distrust the Omnipotent, as though the arm which piled the heavens should ever be palsied. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. You are in a great hurry to do something, and that something does more mischief than could possibly have happened if you had kept still, resting in the Lord and waiting patiently for Him. Therefore I charge you as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ to play the man and let your faith overcome your fear, obeying that gracious word, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Tell Him about it, not only telling yourself about it, for if your anxiety is confined to yourself no good will come of it.

And take courage from this, that He who has brought you into green pastures and made you taste of still waters will not leave you. If you have tasted of the heavenly gift, then that heavenly gift is yours, if you have had ever so short an experience of your Saviour's love, you are one of His. He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. They shall never perish, is His promise, and His purpose secures your final perseverance. Were it not for the Holy Spirit's abiding with us we might be the subjects of some doubt, but as long as He continues to abide with us forever we will not fear. The Lord knows how without violating the freedom of your nature to make you continue in His fear, for He has said I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. That filial fear which makes a child afraid to grieve his Father is His great holdfast upon you, and it is kept alive by hearing the Word, by reading the Scriptures and by feeding upon revealed truth and meditating thereon.

So keep on, not in your own strength but in His. Be diligent in hearing the Word, feed daily upon it, and turn every anxious thought into a brief prayer. When doubts and reasonings rise, take the hammer and nails and fasten your unbelief and fear to Christ's Cross, and let simple faith rest completely upon Him without doubt or fear, for nothing gives Him more joy.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, look upon this weary and waiting child. Thou knowest the tears, the fears, the long years of asking for work and seeming to receive no answer. Say unto this trembling heart, Fear not, for I will help thee. Cast out the fear of man and the fear of want, and put Thy holy and filial fear within, that this soul may not depart from Thee. Help this dear one to cast all care upon Thee, for Thou carest for him. Give quietness of spirit, patient waiting, and faith to rest in Thy promise. Provide according to Thy wisdom what is needed for daily bread and for usefulness, and open the door which no man can shut, in Thine own time and way. Keep this soul from giving up, and perfect that which concerneth him, and keep him by Thy power until the day of Christ. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer, Amen.
