Beloved of All
Your request has been read with care and prayer, and the pain and fear in your words are clear. To be betrayed by someone you trusted, to be left waiting for a test result that could affect the rest of your life, and to feel that you are left to carry the consequences of another person's unfaithfulness is a heavy burden. It is right that you are kneeling before the Lord Jesus Christ, for He alone is the Savior and He alone can give the deep rest your heart is longing for.
Much of what you are feeling right now is fear, and Scripture shows how fear works against faith. When Peter walked toward Jesus on the water he was safe while his eyes were on the Lord, but when he looked at the wind and the waves fear seized him and he began to sink. Faith and fear cannot live together in the same place. Faith drives out fear, and fear drives out faith. As you wait for your upcoming appointment, the temptation is to keep your eyes fixed on the what ifs, the test, the possible future, and that will only let fear grow. Turning your eyes to Jesus, remembering His tender compassion, His willingness to heal and to draw near to those who suffer, is how peace comes. The Gospels show Him again and again healing the sick who were brought to Him, not as someone distant or unreachable, but as one moved with love.
There is a promise left to us of entering into His rest, and we are warned not to come short of it through unbelief. Long ago ten spies brought back a report that filled the people with fear and unbelief, and they said we cannot do it, and because of that unbelief they did not enter what God had promised. In the same way, when we listen to fear we can miss the rest God wants to give. His rest is not simply a good test result, though we will pray for that, it is a settled peace in Christ that remains even while we wait and whatever the result may be. Ask yourself, is your heart at rest in Him today. That rest comes from trusting His promises and His character, not from circumstances.
Scripture also teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. That fear is not a phobia, it is a reverent awe before God in His greatness and holiness, a desire to love what He loves and to hate what He hates. To fear the Lord is to hate evil and to turn away from it, and by that reverence people depart from evil. That reverence leads toward life, satisfaction, and health. Part of that is honoring God with your body. In His design, sexual intimacy belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. This is not said to condemn you, but to show the safe and good path He has made for you going forward. Walking in that reverence protects your heart and body and pleases the Lord, and when our ways please Him we find a deeper security than any human relationship can give.
God searches the heart and knows what is hidden. He sees the deceit that was done against you, He sees your tears, and He sees your faith as you call on Jesus. You wrote that you do not deserve this and that your only wrong was to love him. It is true that you have been sinned against, and that betrayal is not your fault. At the same time Scripture reminds us that we all need the grace of Jesus, not because we earn it by being deserving, but because He freely gives it. We do not work out our salvation by trying to be worthy enough, with fear and trembling we work it out because God Himself is at work in us, giving us both the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. You do not have to earn a miracle, and God is not waiting to punish you for a negative thought or a fearful word. He is a Father who invites honest prayer.
We will pray for you. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this daughter to You. You see her hurt, her fear, and her waiting. We ask for Your mercy over her body and for wisdom for those who will care for her. If it is Your will, grant a negative result and protect her health, and in every outcome grant Your healing, Your peace that passes understanding, and Your presence that quiets fear. Teach her to keep her eyes on Jesus, to enter into the rest You promise to those who trust You, and to walk in reverent fear of You, hating evil and departing from it. Give her grace to forgive as You have forgiven, to be healed in heart as well as body, and to grow in knowing You as the One who searches hearts and still loves with tender compassion. Lead her in a path of purity and hope for the future, and let her life be pleasing to You. Amen.
