We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord and we agree together in Jesus name to rebuke what is evil and to seek God's peace, protection and order in your situation.
We hear the distress caused by a neighbor who is idle and chooses to spy, to spread gossip, to distribute disrespectful pictures and to stir up discord and bullying that ruins reputation. We hear how this laziness becomes destructive, how it creates disaster, delay, missing deliveries, mockery and a war of distraction and disorder, and how it has led to financial harm with extra invoices and bills, and even to hospitalization and great suffering that feels almost unto death. We also hear the confusion of fighting the wrong lists, wrong sizes, wrong numbers and wrong sponsors, and the meddling and sorcery and corruption that takes advantage of others and leaves you feeling unoccupied and burdened with an anxiety that is not yours to carry.
The Word of God clearly rebukes these things. The Lord hates gossip and slander, for it separates close friends and destroys community. Proverbs 16:28 says a perverse man stirs up strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. Proverbs 26:20 says for lack of wood a fire goes out, where there is no gossip, strife ceases. Leviticus 19:16 says you shall not go around as a slanderer among your people. An idle life that chooses to meddle instead of work is also rebuked. 2 Thessalonians 3:11 says for we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who do not work at all, but are busybodies. Proverbs 10:4 says he becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth. And sorcery, divination and all works of the flesh are solemnly warned against. Galatians 5:19-21 says now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 shows that divination and sorcery are an abomination to the Lord. God is not a God of confusion and disorder but of peace, for 1 Corinthians 14:33 says God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. And James 3:16 says for where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
We also understand your cry that we are not God and we are not obligated to carry this disorder and demonic anxiety for another. That is true and biblical. Vengeance and defense belong to the Lord, not to us. Romans 12:19 says do not seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. And we are told to cast our anxiety on Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Philippians 4:6-7 says in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
We notice you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request and we must lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that there is no other name by which we can be saved and have our prayers heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is by His blood and His name that we can rebuke darkness and find peace.
We pray together now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We rebuke in Jesus name the spirit of gossip, slander, laziness, meddling, envy, strife, sorcery and confusion that has been operating through this neighbor and bringing ruin, financial harm, sabotage, delay and suffering. We ask You to silence the tongue that spreads false information and disrespectful images, for Proverbs 21:23 says whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. We ask You to convict this neighbor of sin and bring repentance, that he would turn from idleness to diligent work, from slander to truth, from sorcery to the truth of Christ, and from voyeurism and spying to respect for others. We pray You would deliver him from the deceptions described in Titus 3:3 where at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another, and that You would show him the kindness and mercy that saves.
Lord, we ask for Your protection over our dear neighbor who is suffering. Cover their home, their reputation, their deliveries, their finances and their health. Heal the wounds from hospitalization and prevent any more tragedy or ruin. Stop the extra bills and exploitation and restore what has been stolen. Let no weapon formed against them prosper and let every tongue that rises in judgment be shown to be in the wrong, for Isaiah 54:17 says no weapon that is formed against you will prevail. Give them wisdom to set godly boundaries, to not take on the anxiety and disorder that belongs to another, and to trust You as defender. Help them to live as Romans 12:18 says if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, while not participating in gossip or revenge. Teach them to love and pray for this neighbor as You commanded in Matthew 5:44 love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, and to overcome evil with good as Romans 12:21 says don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
We pray for provision of honest work for those who are unemployed, that they would choose diligence over sloth, and for authorities to restrain corruption and false dealings that increase prices and take advantage. We ask for Your order to replace disorder, Your truth to replace false information, and Your peace to replace this war of distraction. Guard their heart from fear of the cemetery and from prolonged suffering, and fill them with hope and sound mind, for 2 Timothy 1:7 says for God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, believing that You hear us and will act according to Your perfect will. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to guard your lips from returning gossip for gossip, to commit your work and your home to the Lord, to document and wisely limit exposure to this neighbor's meddling, and to seek help from proper authorities if there is harassment, threats or financial fraud. Keep praying for this neighbor's salvation rather than his destruction, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness as Ephesians 6:12 teaches, and God desires all to come to repentance. Rest in the truth that God sees, God knows the true lists and true accounts, and God will vindicate in His time. Keep casting your cares on Jesus and walking in diligence, truth and peace.
