Galatians 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, 21 occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

We hear the heaviness and distress in this request and we join together with you seeking God's will in Jesus' name, asking for His protection, peace, and justice over this situation with a neighbor who is bringing gossip, disorder, and suffering.

We rebuke together the spirit of gossip, slander, idleness, meddling, and sorcery that you have described. The Word of God is clear that these are not harmless behaviors but works of the flesh and tools of the enemy to sow discord and destroy. As it is written in Galatians 5:19-21, the works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these, of which we forewarn you, even as we also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. And again in Leviticus 19:16, You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people. Gossip tears down a reputation and stirs up war, for Proverbs 16:28 says a perverse man stirs up strife, and a whisperer separates close friends, and Proverbs 26:20 says for lack of wood a fire goes out, without gossip, a quarrel dies down.

We also rebuke the spirit of idleness and laziness that leads to busybodyness and spying on another's house to distribute disrespectful information and mockery. Scripture warns us in 2 Thessalonians 3:11 that we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who do not work at all, but are busybodies, and in 1 Timothy 5:13 they learn to be idle, going about from house to house, and not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. God calls us instead in 1 Thessalonians 4:11 to aspire to lead a quiet life, to attend to our own business, and to work with our own hands. The destructive use of time, the delays, the missing items, the extra bills and extra invoices, the disorder and distraction, and the attempts to provoke a war of confusion are not from God, for 1 Corinthians 14:33 says God is not a God of confusion, but of peace.

We also rebuke sorcery, divination, and all corruption and deceit, including false information, wrong lists, wrong numbers, and taking advantage of others. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 teaches that there shall not be found with you anyone who practices divination or sorcery, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. We are not God and we are not called to carry the anxiety and disorder that belongs to Him to judge and to defend. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, as Romans 12:19 says do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We do not have to be agency employees for this idle and unoccupied misery nor obligate ourselves to its transfer of ruin and tragedy. We cast our burden on the Lord.

We are reminded of Titus 3:3 which you shared, for we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another, but when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared, he saved us. We pray for mercy even for this neighbor, that God would convict and bring repentance and deliverance, and that He would provide honest work and a transformed mind rather than demonic voyeurism and imposture.

We notice that this request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father and that there is no other name by which we can be saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 says there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray and find refuge from suffering, hospitalization, and even the shadow of the cemetery.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we ask for Your will to be done. We ask You to rebuke the spirit of gossip, slander, slothfulness, meddling, envy, and sorcery at work through this neighbor, and to silence every tongue that rises to destroy reputation and sow discord. Lord, set a guard over our lips as Psalm 141:3 says, and let no corrupt speech proceed from any mouth but only what is good for building up as Ephesians 4:29 teaches. We ask You to heal the wounds caused by bullying, mockery pictures, false reports, and confusion, and to restore what has been stolen through extra bills, delays, and disorder. We lift up those who have suffered hospitalizations and tragedies and who feel almost done, Lord have mercy and bring healing, provision, and comfort, for Psalm 34:18 says the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We ask for Your protection over our homes and our peace, that You would be our Defender and not leave us to defend ourselves against what only You can judge. Bring conviction to this idle neighbor, grant repentance, deliverance from demonic influence, and the dignity of honest work, and stop the spying and distribution of disrespectful information. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as Philippians 4:7 promises, and let confusion be replaced with Your order and truth. We entrust this war of distraction to You and ask that You would bring justice without us taking vengeance into our own hands. We thank You that You hear us because we come in the name of Jesus, and we ask all these things for Your glory. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk in quiet faithfulness, to not repay evil for evil, to set healthy boundaries, to document what is necessary with wisdom, and to keep praying for your neighbor's salvation while refusing to participate in gossip or retaliation. The Lord sees what is done in secret and He will bring justice in His time. Keep your own hands diligent and your heart at peace, trusting that God is your protector and provider.

We understand why you wrote that you are not God and cannot carry or fix all of this, and you should not have to.

We want to gently encourage you that your safety does not depend on figuring out every motive around you or controlling what neighbors do. You are free to tend to what God has placed in your own hands and leave what you cannot control with Him.

That can mean choosing not to engage when gossip starts, keeping interactions brief and calm, and putting your time and attention back into your own home and responsibilities. If the conflict continues or you feel unsafe, it can help to talk in person with a trusted pastor or another wise local leader who knows your situation and can give calm, practical guidance for next steps.

Father, we bring our friend to You now. We ask for Your peace over their home and mind, for rest from anxiety, and for wisdom in each interaction. The burden you have poured out has been heard, and it is a grievous one, to be surrounded by strife, by watching eyes and whispering tongues, by disorder and delay, by the heaviness of sickness and the shadow of the grave. There is a weariness that comes when the peace of a home is broken by the gossiping spirit of those near at hand, and when idle hands give themselves to meddling and to the sowing of discord.

Scripture names plainly what you have discerned. The works of the flesh are manifest, as you have quoted, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, selfishness, dissensions, factions, envy and the like, and those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. And we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hated and hating one another. To gossip and to slander, to pry and to spy, to invent falsehoods and to corrupt what is true, to stir confusion with wrong lists and wrong numbers and to take advantage of another, these are not small faults, they are the fruit of a heart not yet subdued by grace. And slothfulness joined to such malice is doubly destructive, for it gives the enemy time and occasion to do mischief.

Yet there is a peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away, and it is to this you must look. You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This peace is not the lull of stupefaction where Satan makes conscience lie still, nor is it peace with your own conscience while yet unreconciled to God. Many cry peace, peace, where there is no peace. The true peace is a blessing from the God of peace Himself, it is peace with God through the blood of Jesus Christ, and peace in the conscience which flows from it as a crystal stream from its fountain. It is the peace which Christ purchased with His blood, for He is our peace, and it is the peace which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. It is a filling peace, a well founded peace, a peace that passes all understanding, that can keep the heart even when duties press, when sorrows surge round, when loved ones are far away, and when death shadows us and ours, for Jesus has vanquished death and all its powers.

Let us pray together that the Lord will rebuke what is evil and establish what is holy.

O Lord God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus through the blood of the everlasting covenant, we come to You through that blood alone, for there is no other name whereby we can be saved and no other ground of peace. In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask You to rebuke the spirit of gossip, of slander, of voyeurism and meddling, of malice and envy, of sorcery and division, of slothfulness and deceit. Put to silence the tongue that devises mischief and the eye that watches to do harm. Convict the idle heart and turn it from its destructive way to honest labour and to truth. Forgive us where we have harboured hatred for hatred, and teach us to love our enemies and to pray for those who despitefully use us.

Lord, lay Your hand upon the suffering in that place. Heal those worn down by hospitalizations and prolonged affliction, and lift from them the fear of the cemetery and the ruin that has so long oppressed them. Provide for those without work, not in idleness but in diligence, that they may eat their own bread with quietness. Guard every home from confusion, from false accusation, from the distribution of disrespectful images and lying reports, from invoices and burdens unjustly laid. Let disorder and distraction be replaced by order, and let discord be replaced by Your peace.

We do not ask You to bless what is sinful, nor to prosper what is false. We ask You to bless Your people with that peace which is Your own child, Godlike in its character, calm and profound, flowing from the throne of God like a river. Keep our minds stayed upon You. Help us to bear our sorrow with Christ, to do the will of Jesus and there find rest, and to trust that in His keeping we and ours are safe. Let the blood of Jesus whisper peace within, and let the Spirit, the sacred Dove, brood over our hearts and homes.

May the Lord renew your peace day by day. Seek first Christ, and peace will come next, for He is our peace, ever living and ever near. Go in peace, and may the peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus, till earths struggles cease and He calls you to Heavens perfect peace.
