Your request has been heard and your distress over what has been happening around your home is taken seriously. The weight of gossip, spying, mocking pictures, confusion over bills and deliveries, the financial pressure and hospitalizations and the lingering threat of even more suffering is a heavy burden to carry. It is right to bring this before the Lord and ask Him to intervene.
Scripture is very clear about the destructive power of the tongue. A person who spreads slander is called a fool, and a hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor. In a multitude of words sin is not lacking, and a talebearer reveals secrets while a faithful spirit conceals a matter. What you describe, neighbors with idle time using it to watch others, to distribute disrespectful images, to twist information, to create discord and damage reputations, is exactly the kind of walking in slander and deceit that God warns against. When people speak peaceably with the mouth while lying in wait in the heart, when they teach their tongue to speak lies and weary themselves committing wrong, the Lord says He will visit for these things. He sees and He will judge.
You are right to note that we are not God and we cannot carry the obligation to defend or control another person's choices. God hears from heaven when a matter is brought before Him. He judges His servants, condemning the wicked by bringing his way upon his own head and justifying the righteous. You can place this oath and this hurt before His altar and trust Him to do what is right. Through knowledge the just shall be delivered, and the way of the wicked leads its own followers astray.
The Bible also ties this to the two great commands. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and strength, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets are fulfilled in these two. We cannot love our neighbor rightly unless God is supreme in our lives, because apart from loving Him first we remain centered on ourselves. To love your neighbor as yourself does not mean learning to love yourself more, we already care for ourselves, feeding and housing and comforting ourselves. It means extending that same care to the one in need. Jesus taught that our neighbor is the person in distress, and the one who shows mercy is the true neighbor. This also helps us understand idle and slothful behavior. The slothful person wastes what he has and his substance is not precious, while the diligent person values what God has given. He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has mercy on the poor is blessed, and a person of understanding will hold his peace rather than join in contempt.
The list you mentioned in Galatians 5 describes works of the flesh, including idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfishness, dissensions, factions and envy, and warns that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Titus 3 reminds us that we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to passions, living in malice and envy, hated and hating one another, until God showed mercy. That truth should keep us from returning evil for evil while still asking God to restrain evil.
Let us pray together. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus we bring this situation before You. You see every act of gossip, voyeurism, mockery, meddling and deceit. You see the idle spying, the false information, the confusion over lists and numbers and sponsorships, the corruption and increased prices, the disorder that provokes distraction and strife. We ask You to rebuke the spirit of slander, laziness, strife and sorcery, and to bring conviction and repentance where there is sin. Bring the way of the wicked to an end and justify those who seek to walk uprightly. Guard reputations from being destroyed, guard homes from being watched and invaded, and guard hearts from anxiety and disorder. Provide for the extra bills and financial pressure, bring healing and protection from further hospitalization and tragedy, and keep this household from being drawn into wars of words and confusion. Give wisdom to hold peace, to not repeat slander, to be of a faithful spirit that does not reveal secrets, and to love You supremely so that we may love our neighbor rightly without despising anyone. Deliver the just through knowledge and let mercy and truth prevail. Amen.
Continue to guard your lips and your home, do not trust every word that is spread, and do not feel compelled to answer every false report. Hold your peace where you can, speak truth where you must, and keep bringing your cause to the Lord who is the righteous judge.
