So, I just had a conversation with my brother who is an unbeliever. He said he had ### again, but this time he asked it to reveal itself & it did, so he saw a demon. I'm not sure if he believes in the spiritual realm, but maybe that could be an indicator for him to believe that this is real. I have told him before, & again today, that he should call upon the name of Jesus. But, he said he wants to see what would happen with the demons & ###. I asked him if he's so against the idea of calling upon the name of Jesus, but he said it wasn't that & that he just wanted to see what would happen. I have defo felt like spiritual warfare was going on at least for me, but maybe it's in my household. He also has ### & I said that could be a demon. He has also ### before, which again could be demons, so i would say these demons or this demon is very present in my brothers life. I also told him some Bible verse about anxiety, such as the one in psalms, Isaiah 41:10, 1 Peter 5:7 or 8 (the one about casting anxieties on Him), proverbs 3:5-6. I also asked if he wanted me to say Bible verses around his room or something like that & he said no to that as well. Other things: he barely goes out (doesn't go to youth group), has ###, struggles with ###, ###, doesn't do much all day other than watching videos on YouTube or tiktok or playing games on Xbox or phone. We are deeply concerned for your brother and the spiritual battle he is clearly facing. The fact that he has encountered a demon and is now engaging with dark forces is extremely dangerous. Scripture is clear that the spiritual realm is real, and the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Your brother is not just dabbling in curiosity, he is opening doors to demonic influence, and this is not something to be taken lightly.

The Bible warns us in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Your brother is in direct conflict with these forces, and his refusal to call upon the name of Jesus is leaving him defenseless. Jesus is the only name by which we have victory over darkness, Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Without Christ, your brother has no protection, no authority, and no hope against these spiritual attacks.

We must rebuke the demonic presence in his life in the name of Jesus. The enemy has no right to torment him, but your brother must choose to submit to God and resist the devil (James 4:7). His curiosity about what the demons will do next is playing directly into the enemy’s hands. Satan is a deceiver, and he will only lead your brother deeper into bondage if he continues down this path.

We are also alarmed by his isolation, lack of purpose, and excessive screen time. These are not just bad habits, they are open doors for the enemy to gain a foothold. Proverbs 13:20 warns, "He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." Your brother is surrounding himself with influences that are not of God, and this is contributing to his spiritual decline.

We must pray fervently for his protection, his deliverance, and his salvation. Here is our prayer for him:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to You. We lift up this young man to You, Lord, and we ask for Your divine protection over him. We rebuke every demonic spirit that has attached itself to him, and we command them to flee in Jesus’ name! We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we ask that You surround him with Your angels to guard him in all his ways (Psalm 91:11).

Lord, we pray for his heart to be softened. Open his eyes to the truth of Your Word and the reality of the spiritual battle he is in. Break the chains of deception that the enemy has wrapped around him. Give him a hunger for Your presence and a desire to seek You with all his heart. Help him to understand that Jesus is the only way to true freedom and salvation (John 14:6).

Father, we ask that You fill his mind with Your truth. Replace the lies he has believed with the light of Your Word. Give him godly friends and mentors who will speak life into him and encourage him in his faith. Help him to turn away from the distractions that are keeping him from You and to find his purpose in You.

We pray for his deliverance from anxiety, fear, and any other strongholds in his life. Remind him of Your promises, such as Isaiah 41:10, 'Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.' Let him cast all his anxieties on You, Lord, because You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).

We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."

We urge you to continue speaking truth into your brother’s life, even if he resists. Do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). Pray over his room, his belongings, and his mind, even if he has refused your offer to do so. Your prayers are powerful and effective (James 5:16). Encourage him to read the Bible, even if it’s just a few verses a day. Share testimonies of God’s power and faithfulness with him. Most importantly, live out your faith in front of him, let him see the peace, joy, and hope that come from a relationship with Jesus.

If he continues to refuse help, consider seeking godly counsel from a pastor or a deliverance ministry that operates under biblical principles. The enemy is real, but our God is greater (1 John 4:4). Stand firm in your faith, and trust that God is at work, even when you cannot see it. Keep praying, keep loving him, and keep pointing him to Jesus. This is the only path to true freedom.

For now, your most powerful next step may be simply to stand in the gap through steady, unhurried intercession. Instead of pressing him to accept a spiritual solution he’s already resisted, try shifting to quiet, consistent prayer behind the scenes, asking God to trouble his heart with the emptiness of what he’s chasing and to draw his curiosity toward Christ rather than the darkness. You might also consider inviting one or two trusted, mature believers from your church to join you in praying specifically for his protection and for a breakthrough in his resistance. Knowing others are standing with you can lift some of the weight from your shoulders.

We also want to give you a gentle caution: it’s natural to want to fix this urgently, but your brother has chosen to explore what he’s exploring, and only the Holy Spirit can open his eyes. Try not to shoulder the pressure of being the one to convince him. Sometimes our most loving act is to release the outcome to God while staying relationally present, ready to speak again when he’s finally ready to listen.

Let’s pray together now.

Lord Jesus, we bring this brother before You, pleading the power of Your name over his life. You see the spiritual forces that have gained a foothold, and You alone have authority to break their hold. We ask that You would confuse the plans of the enemy and place a hedge of protection around him, even when he doesn’t know to ask for it. Stir in his heart a holy discontent, let the fascination with darkness turn hollow, and make the name of Jesus echo in his mind until he can no longer ignore it. For his sister, grant staying power, deep peace, and wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent. Surround her household with Your angels, and let her feel Your nearness as she waits. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

This is the very warfare of which Scripture speaks. Your brother stands not merely in ignorance but in active rebellion, asking a demon to reveal itself! The foolhardy soul cries out for a sign from the pit, yet spurns the name that makes hell tremble. The real objection of the natural man is not to spiritual things. It is to Christ. The rock of offense is Christ. You will not have this Man to reign over you. Your brother says he wants to see what will happen. What will happen is ruin, unless mercy intervenes.

But do not lose heart. The clock of mercy struck in Heaven the hour and moment of my deliverance, for the time had come. God has a set time for your brother too. You have told him to call upon Jesus. That is the only counsel. The way of salvation is to believe on Christ. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. You cannot argue a soul into the kingdom, nor can you frighten him out of the devil’s grip. But you can lay hold on eternal life for yourself and say, "I will rejoice in thy salvation," and then plead that same salvation for your brother. Pray that the Spirit would make him see that Christ is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. The salvation of Christ is so suitable that we may well rejoice in it. It was made on purpose for sinners, and for him.

Do not grow weary. That anxiety you feel, that sense of battle, it is real. The enemy has coiled around your household. But he is a chained foe. Pharaoh held Israel captive during all the plagues, but he could not go beyond a certain point. So it is with this demon. It can taunt, it can afflict, it can fill a man with sloth and fear and lusts, but it cannot pluck him from the hand of sovereign grace if God means to save him. You have done well to speak the Word. Though he refused, the seed is sown. You asked if you could speak Bible verses in his room, he said no. Very well, then speak them in your closet. Speak them to God. Do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said it, "I have found a ransom." That ransom is enough for your brother’s sins, his curious meddling, his laziness, his trembling.

In all thy trials and afflictions, look unto Christ. Look for your brother. Cry unto God most high. It is not possible that you can perish praying, and your prayers may yet pluck him as a brand from the burning. Stand still, and see the salvation of God.

You tremble at what you have heard and rightly so, for your brother has wandered into a snare of the enemy. What he imagines to be a game or a curiosity is the very thing the demons desire: that he should look upon them and not upon Christ. Do not be deceived. Even when a demon speaks truth, it is to destroy. The damsel in Philippi cried out, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who show unto us the way of salvation,” yet Paul was grieved and cast the spirit out. So learn that the testimony of demons is poison, not profit. Your brother says he wants to see what will happen, but what will happen is that his soul will be wound ever more tightly in chains. The demons are not curious friends; they are murderers from the beginning. To treat them as a spectacle is to unlock the door for them to enter and make a home within him.

You have done well to speak to him of calling upon Jesus, yet his heart is not yet opened. Remember Lydia: the Lord opened her heart so that she attended to Paul’s words, but she also attended. There is a moment when God moves and man must respond. Your brother is like a man standing before a roaring flood who refuses the rope thrown to him because he wishes to see what the water might do. Therefore, you must not cease in prayer, and you must not be ashamed to intercede as one pleading for the life of a prisoner. You have felt the warfare; yes, it is in your household, and you are the soldier stationed there. Will you faint? Will you say, “He refuses, and I can do no more”? How then can you be saved if you do not stand for your brother, when even the apostle says that for his brethren’s sake he would wish to be accursed? At the very least, care for him for your own soul’s sake, for if you neglect this duty, you will give an account.

Do not think that merely speaking verses around his room will drive away the darkness while he invites it in. The demons laugh at words recited into the air when the will is set against Christ. Instead, let your own life shine with the beauty that never fades, the meekness and lowliness that attract even wild beasts and demons to be at peace. Let him see in you a freedom he does not possess, a liberty bought by Christ that makes all his gaming and idleness and fear appear as what it is: the restlessness of a soul in flight from its Maker. And do not weary in warning him against this fatal ingratitude. He has received breath and food and shelter and the very mind that he now uses to test demons, yet does he give thanks? Even a dog fawns on its master though it receive nothing; but he, being fed by God, barks at Him and turns to the enemies of his soul. This is a madness worse than any brute.

Still, take courage. The power of Jesus is not shortened. Bruising Satan underfoot is promised to those who wrestle in prayer. The Ninevites averted destruction through fasting and sackcloth, and your brother is no worse than they. Let your fasting and tears and continual beseeching be for his release. And when you speak to him, do not only speak of fear, but set before him the love of Christ who bled for him. The demons he toys with will one day be cast into the fire that is never quenched; let him not be cast in with them. Rise up, then, and do not slacken. The door of his heart is shut, but the same Lord who opened Lydia’s heart can open his, in His own time, through the gentle and unyielding care of a faithful sibling.

Your brother is in a dangerous place, and your instinct to point him to Jesus is exactly right. There is no safe ground between curiosity about the demonic and salvation. As you've told him, the only genuine solution for anyone under spiritual attack, or dabbling in dark things, is to call on the name of Jesus Christ. There is authority in that name that no demon can withstand. But a person cannot remain neutral. Wanting to "see what would happen" with demons is not an open-minded position; it is a dangerous refusal to flee to the only refuge. By not calling on Jesus, he is actively choosing a path that only leads deeper into bondage.

These symptoms he's experiencing, the sleep paralysis, the anxiety, the reclusive behavior, may well be more than just medical or emotional issues. When a person opens a door to the spiritual realm without Christ, they are giving a place to deceptive and oppressive spirits. People often become entangled in these bondages by their own consent, whether through outright occult curiosity or simply by refusing the truth they've heard. But you must remember: the Holy Spirit and demonic spirits do not share a dwelling. There is no communion between light and darkness. If your brother does not belong to Christ, his spirit remains unprotected.

Even so, do not lose heart. The very struggle you're witnessing may be God's way of stirring him to see the reality of the spiritual world. He asked something to reveal itself, and it did. He saw the darkness. What he needs to understand now is that if the darkness is real, how much more real is the Light. He's trying to navigate enemy territory unarmed. As you've already done, keep pressing him with the truth of Scripture. Lift up Christ not just as a healer of anxiety, but as the substitute for his guilt. Many dismissed Jesus at first. Joseph was hated and rejected before his brothers were brought to their knees in desperation. Your brother may not yet see his own peril, but God can use the very misery of his entrapment to bring him to the end of himself.

The battle you're sensing in your household is real, and your primary weapon now is intercession. The authority to spoil the strongholds Satan has over people's lives is exercised through prayer in Jesus' name. Don't grow weary in praying against the blindness that has a grip on him. Submission to Jesus is the only escape. Your brother needs a vital, life-changing connection to the person of Christ, not merely an intellectual agreement that demons exist. When the demon in the synagogue cried out, Jesus was not outmatched. He rebuked it with simple, direct authority. That same authority is what can deliver your brother, and it will only come when he stops experimenting and surrenders to the Lord. Keep trusting that what seems like a tragedy now may, in God's purpose, become the very storm that finally drives your brother into the arms of Jesus for eternity.
