The very anxiety you feel over this medicine's arrival and its effects unfits you to meet the difficulty should it come. Be prudent, do the right thing in waiting upon the post, and then leave the result with God. Do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, and distress. There is no conceivable trouble through which this promise will not carry you if by faith you grasp it: He has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.
Come with the maimed hand of your faith. Have unstaggering confidence in the Divine Healer. That medicine, if it comes, is but a leaf from His tree, for even the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. There grows no ultimate healing herb but the one plant of renown, and there is one great Physician who lays His hands on men and they are restored. The Lord has begun to heal us, and that healing virtue will work till we are without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing. His salvation will also perfectly heal our bodies in His time, and until then, His presence keeps us.
This very request is no interruption to Him. The utmost length of human sickness can be reached by this great Physician. If your one anxiety is to be laid at His feet, He will assuredly accept you. His ministry to you must precede any service you would offer. Healing must come before serving. Oh, that the Spirit of God might deliver us from the thralldom of our sinful lusts and lead us to choose God's side, even when it is not the side of self. There are no half measures. If you are a follower of the Lamb, it is yours to do what God bids, and that includes trusting Him with the mail, with your body, and with every symptom. Take heed how you hear this: it may be a blessed thing to receive this mercy, but no one can tell the weight of it that may come. That which we do not accept as being true can be of no service to us, for everything comes by faith. Unbelief restrains the hand of God and keeps back the blessing. If you believe that Christ can save you, He will. Hear the word of God: the pains you feel, He bindeth up. The broken heart, He healeth. Let the Sun of Righteousness rise upon you with healing in His wings, and with that heavenly calm, your medicine, whether it arrives this morning or not, will be met with a soul that rejoices in the Lord always. For the inhabitant shall no more say, I am sick, not in the depths of the spirit where Christ dwells. He will carry you through, out of, and beyond this. Never, no never, no never forsake.
