We hear the ache in your heart and we join with you in bringing your marriage before the Lord, for we know how painful it is when two who were joined as one begin to feel like strangers. We share your desire to see your marriage not only survive but be restored and strengthened, because we believe marriage is a sacred and lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, created and joined together by God Himself. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9 and For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh Gen 2:24. This is God's design from the beginning, and He delights in healing what has grown distant.
It is so common for busyness, unspoken hurts, disappointment, and the pressures of life to slowly create distance without either person noticing how it happened. That drifting does not mean your marriage is beyond hope, for God is able to soften hearts and make new what feels broken. We are reminded I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you Ezek 36:26. We pray that for both of you, that the Lord would open his heart as you have asked, and open your heart as well, to see each other again with grace, tenderness and forgiveness. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Eph 5:25 and Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord Eph 5:22 show us the beautiful picture of mutual love, respect and selfless service. Love covers a multitude of sins 1 Pet 4:8 and Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Eph 4:32 are the ways that distance is undone, through daily choosing kindness, forgiveness, honest communication, and prayer together.
We want to encourage you to keep pursuing your husband in prayer and in gentle, loving truth, and to invite him to seek the Lord with you, whether through praying together, reading Scripture together, and seeking wise godly counsel from a pastor or mature married believers. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding Prov 3:5-6 and With all prayer and requests, pray at all times in the Spirit Eph 6:18. We also encourage you to examine your own heart before the Lord, to ask Him to show you any place where hurt has turned to bitterness, and to let Him fill you with His love so you can love even when it feels difficult.
We noticed your request speaks of prayer but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are reconciled to God Rom 10:9. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ for your salvation and to come to God in His name, and to pray for your husband to know Him deeply as well, for a marriage centered on Christ is far more able to endure and be renewed.
We pray together now for you both.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious marriage to You. You see the loneliness and the longing to be known and loved again, and You know every step that led to this distance. We ask You to have mercy and to pour out Your healing grace upon this husband and wife. Soften his heart, Lord, and draw him back toward his wife and toward the covenant he made before You. Give him eyes to see her value, ears to hear her heart, and a willingness to love her as Christ loves the church. Soften her heart as well, give her strength, patience, hope and wisdom to love and respect him with grace even in this painful season. Remove any hardness, resentment or indifference and replace it with a new heart and a new spirit. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, to speak truth in love, to listen with humility, and to seek You together daily. Protect this marriage from the enemy who seeks to divide, and let what You have joined together remain unbroken Matt 19:6. We ask that You would restore friendship, intimacy, and unity, and make their marriage a testimony of Your redeeming power. We pray all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace, amen.
We stand with you in hope, believing that God who instituted marriage is faithful to restore those who seek Him. Do not grow weary in praying and in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up Gal 6:9. Keep seeking the Lord, keep loving faithfully, and trust Him to work in His perfect timing.
