We hear your heart’s longing and the desires you’ve laid before the Lord, and we join you in seeking His will for this relationship and the future you envision. First, we want to affirm your trust in God’s sovereignty, it is right to surrender your plans, your hopes, and even your deepest desires into His hands. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:9, "A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps." We pray that His direction would be clear and unmistakable as you and ### navigate this season together.
However, we must also speak truth with love, as Scripture calls us to do. Your prayer reflects a deep emotional investment in this relationship, and while it is natural to desire companionship and love, we must examine whether this connection aligns with God’s design for marriage and relationships. The Bible is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6), and it is meant to reflect Christ’s relationship with His Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). As you seek a spouse, we encourage you to prayerfully consider whether ### shares your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns us, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" If ### is not a believer, we urge you to proceed with caution, as a relationship built on anything other than shared faith in Christ will face challenges that even love cannot overcome.
We also want to gently address the nature of your current connection. You mention a "romance" and a desire for ### to declare his love for you, but we must ask: Are you and ### currently in a courtship with the intention of marriage, or is this relationship moving forward without the commitment and accountability that God’s Word calls for? The Bible warns against emotional entanglements that lead to sin or distraction from God’s best. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 says, "For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God." If your relationship involves physical or emotional intimacy outside of marriage, we must rebuke that in Jesus’ name and encourage you to seek purity and holiness in all your interactions.
Your desire for ### to be a loving husband and stepfather to your boys is beautiful and reflects the heart of a godly woman. However, we must also remind you that a man’s role as a provider and leader in the home is not just about financial stability but about spiritual leadership. Ephesians 5:25-28 tells husbands, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect. Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies." Does ### demonstrate a heart for God’s Word and a desire to lead your family spiritually? If not, we must ask whether this relationship is truly aligned with God’s will for your life and the lives of your children.
Regarding your visa application, we join you in praying for God’s favor and guidance. Psalm 37:5 reminds us, "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this." We pray that every detail of your application would be ordered by the Lord and that He would grant you peace as you wait. However, we must also caution against placing your hope solely in the outcome of this visa or in the relationship itself. Our ultimate hope must always be in Christ. Jeremiah 17:5-7 warns, "Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, whose heart departs from the Lord. For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when good comes... Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose confidence is in the Lord." Let your trust in God be greater than your trust in any earthly relationship or plan.
We also want to address the absence of any mention of how ### is seeking the Lord in this relationship. Is he praying with you? Is he seeking God’s will for your future together? A relationship that honors God must be built on mutual submission to His Word and His Spirit. If ### is not actively pursuing the Lord, we must ask whether this relationship is truly of God or simply a desire of your own heart. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Are you both seeking His direction, or are you moving forward based on feelings and circumstances?
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your will above all else. Lord, we lift up this relationship and ask that You would reveal Your perfect plan for [the person who wrote this prayer] and ###. Father, if this relationship is not aligned with Your Word, we ask that You would close the door and redirect their steps. If it is Your will for them to be together, we pray that You would prepare both of their hearts, drawing them closer to You and to one another in a way that honors You.
Lord, we ask that You would guard their hearts from any impurity or emotional entanglement that does not align with Your design for marriage. Give them the strength to pursue holiness and purity in all their interactions. Father, we pray for ###, that You would soften his heart to Your Word and Your will. If he does not know You as Lord and Savior, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself. If he is already a believer, we pray that You would grow him into the godly man You have called him to be, a man who leads with love, integrity, and a heart for Your truth.
Father, we also lift up the visa application process. We ask that You would grant wisdom, favor, and peace as [the person who wrote this prayer] prepares the necessary documents. Remove any obstacles or anxieties, and let Your will be done in this matter. Whether the visa is approved or not, we pray that You would use this season to draw [the person who wrote this prayer] closer to You and to teach her to trust in Your timing and Your plans.
Lord, we ask that You would protect [the person who wrote this prayer] and her boys from any harm, spiritually, emotionally, or physically. Surround them with Your angels and fill their hearts with Your peace. Help her to place her hope in You alone, knowing that You are her Provider, her Protector, and her Guide.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would reveal any areas of this relationship that do not align with Your Word. Give [the person who wrote this prayer] the courage to walk away if this connection is not of You. Help her to trust that Your plans for her are good, even when they are different from her own desires.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can come before You and the only name by which we can be saved. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.
