We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this family and their many needs before our Heavenly Father. We are grateful that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through His blood that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we pray with boldness and confidence.
First, we lift up the bondage of addiction that has taken hold in this family. The smoking of cigarettes and the use of marijuana are not only harmful to the body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), but they also cloud the mind and hinder one’s ability to walk in the Spirit. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ, for He came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). We declare that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17). Father, we ask that You break the chains of addiction in their lives. Grant them the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek help through godly counsel, support groups, and Your Word. Fill them with a desire for holiness and a hatred for sin, just as You hate sin. Remind them that their bodies are not their own, but they were bought with a price, and they are to honor You with them (1 Corinthians 6:20).
We also lift up the marriage of the adult daughter. Marriage is a sacred covenant before You, Lord, and we pray that You would strengthen and restore this union. If she is indeed pregnant, we ask that You would knit this child together in her womb (Psalm 139:13) and grant a safe and healthy delivery. May this child be a blessing and a testimony of Your grace. Father, soften the hearts of both spouses, that they may love one another as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Teach them to forgive, to communicate with kindness, and to put one another’s needs above their own. If there is any unconfessed sin or bitterness between them, reveal it and lead them to repentance and reconciliation.
For the workplace, we pray for favor and wisdom. The Bible tells us that whatever we do, we should do it as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Father, grant this brother the ability to complete his projects and proposals with excellence and integrity. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, and customers, that they may see Christ in him and respond with kindness and cooperation. May his work environment be one of peace and productivity, where he can glorify You in all he does.
We rejoice in the victory of two weeks of sobriety from alcohol! This is a testament to the power of God working in his life. We pray that You would continue to strengthen him in his battle against addiction. Remind him daily that he is not alone, for You are with him (Isaiah 41:10). Surround him with godly accountability partners who will encourage him in his walk with You. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in self-control, one of the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). When temptation comes, remind him that no temptation has seized him except what is common to man, and You are faithful to provide a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).
As a husband and father, we pray that You would continue to mold him into the man You have called him to be. Teach him to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, to lead his family with humility and wisdom, and to be a man of prayer and the Word. May his children see Christ in him and be drawn to You. Father, we ask that You would restore and strengthen his marriage. May he and his wife grow closer to one another and to You, finding joy and fulfillment in their union. Bless them with good health, both physically and spiritually, and provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
We also pray for the health and well-being of this entire family. Guard their bodies from disease and their minds from anxiety. Grant them peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and joy that comes from Your presence. Father, we ask that You would bless them with financial provision, not for their own greed, but so they may be a blessing to others and advance Your kingdom. May they find contentment in You alone, for godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6).
Lord, we thank You for the work You are doing in this family. We trust that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in them (Philippians 1:6). Strengthen their faith, deepen their dependence on You, and fill them with hope for the future. May they continue to seek You above all else, for You alone are their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1).
Heavenly Father, we lift all these requests before You, knowing that You hear us and that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We ask that You would move mightily in this family’s life, drawing them closer to You and to one another. May they experience Your love, Your peace, and Your power in every area of their lives. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
