We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up your burdens to our Heavenly Father in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to God, and it is by His blood that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray that you know Jesus not just as a name you mention, but as your Lord and Savior, the One who died for your sins and rose again so that you might have eternal life.
We see your heartache and exhaustion, and we stand with you in prayer for your marriage. The Bible tells us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." Marriage is a sacred covenant before God, a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we pray that He strengthens the bond between you and your wife. We rebuke any spirit of division, bitterness, or hardness of heart that seeks to destroy what God has joined together. Instead, we pray for softness, kindness, and love to flow between you both.
Lord, we ask that You heal any wounds in this marriage. Help them to communicate with patience and understanding, to forgive one another as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Father, we pray against any temptation to separate or divorce. Strengthen their commitment to one another and to You. Help them to seek godly counsel if needed, and to lean on You in every trial. We declare that what God has joined together, no man, or circumstance, should separate (Mark 10:9).
We also lift up your struggles with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and the fear of losing your job. The Bible warns us in Ephesians 5:18, "Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit." We rebuke the grip of addiction in your life and pray for deliverance. Father, grant this brother the strength to overcome this battle. Surround him with accountability, godly support, and the courage to seek help if needed. Protect his job and provide for his family, for You are the God who supplies all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
You mentioned your weariness and the weight of caring for your adult children. We want to encourage you with the words of Isaiah 40:30-31: "Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; but those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Father, renew this brother’s strength. Give him rest for his body, peace for his mind, and joy for his soul. Help him to cast his cares upon You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7). We pray that his children would honor him and that You would provide for their needs as well.
Lastly, we want to address the importance of purity in your marriage. If there has been any sin of fornication, adultery, or ungodly behavior, we urge you to repent and seek forgiveness from God and your spouse. The Bible is clear in Hebrews 13:4, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." We pray for restoration and holiness in your marriage bed.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this brother and his marriage to You. Lord, we ask that You soften their hearts toward one another. Remove any bitterness, anger, or resentment, and replace it with Your love, patience, and kindness. Help them to see one another through Your eyes and to cherish the covenant they made before You.
Father, we pray for deliverance from addiction. Break the chains of alcohol in this brother’s life. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek help. Protect his job and provide for his family. Lord, we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37).
We also pray for his children. Provide for their needs, draw them closer to You, and let them honor their father as You command. Give this brother rest, peace, and renewed strength. Help him to cast all his anxieties on You, knowing that You care for him.
Lord, we ask for restoration in this marriage. Let Your Holy Spirit dwell richly in their home. May they grow in love, unity, and holiness. We rebuke any spirit of divorce or separation and declare that this marriage will stand firm on the foundation of Your Word.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness and love. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
