Jesus Christ please help me

Thanking God you were able to overcome the urge to have a drink this morning. It shows your willpower through God’s Grace.
You show immense determination to fight this demon of alcohol. Praying that the pain in your left shoulder, arm, elbow and hand will subside - and that you can avoid surgery or medication. Prayers for you and your wife, son and daughter will continue.
Prayers for hearts to soften, with your family and those you encounter while working - all in the name of Jesus.

Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for turning to the Lord Jesus in your need. We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing it before God, who hears and who cares for you.

We thank God with you that when the craving came early in the morning to go downstairs for a beer or for whiskey and soda, you were able to turn away and go back to sleep. That turning away is a mercy from God. Scripture teaches that no temptation has taken you except what is common to all people, and God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape so that you can endure it. That way of escape was given to you in that moment, and we pray He will continue to give it each time the desire comes.

You asked for help to overcome alcohol use, and to be a better man, husband, father and employee. The path forward is not by adding more to satisfy the desire, but by cutting away excess and taking away the evil itself. The salutary medicine is moderation and, where alcohol has mastered you, abstinence and self control through Christ. We pray that God will give you strength to cut away what harms you, to convince your mind by His truth that lasting peace does not come from drink, and to abide in a proper and sober mind. We also pray He will help you to persevere in prayer. Sometimes God delays an answer not because He does not wish to give, but so that we will keep coming to Him and remain close to Him. So keep praying, even when you do not yet see the full answer, and keep coming to Him as a child runs to his father.

We bring before the Lord the pain in your left shoulder, arm, elbow and hand. We ask Him for healing and relief, and for wisdom for you about medical care. If you do need to see a doctor again, we pray God will guide that decision and provide trustworthy help, and that you will not suffer worse harm from side effects or from untreated pain. We ask for His mercy on your body.

We also pray for you in your work, that God will help you complete your projects and proposals correctly and on time, and that He will give you favor and softened hearts among your bosses, coworkers and customers. May your work be done with honesty and diligence as service to the Lord.

We lift up your wife and your adult son who struggle with alcohol and cigarette smoking, and your son who also uses marijuana. We share your concern for their health and we pray God will open their eyes to how these things harm the body He created, and that He will give them desire and power to turn away and to seek wholeness in Christ. We pray He will soften hearts in your home and bring healing to these habits.

We pray for your adult daughter and her marriage. We ask God to strengthen her marriage according to His good design, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, kept in faithfulness and love. If she is pregnant, we pray for the health and safety of both mother and child, and that the child will be born healthy and be raised in the knowledge of the Lord.

We pray for all who have been praying for you, that God will encourage them and answer according to His wisdom.

Father in heaven, we thank You for Your mercy in Jesus Christ, our only Savior. We ask You to forgive our sins and to cleanse us. Please give this brother strength to turn from alcohol each time temptation comes, and show him the way of escape. Take away the desire that harms him and fill him with Your Spirit. Touch his body and ease the pain in his shoulder, arm, elbow and hand, and give him wisdom for care. Help him to grow as a husband, father and worker who honors You. Draw his wife, his son and his daughter to Yourself, deliver them from what harms them, guard their health, and establish their homes in Your truth. Grant peace, steadiness and hope as he continues to seek You. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to keep walking closely with the Lord, to stay in His Word, to remain in fellowship with faithful believers who can support you, and to seek wise and godly counsel and appropriate help for alcohol use and for your physical pain. We will continue to pray for you.

Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and honestly. The moment you described early in the morning when the urge to drink came and you were able instead to go back to sleep is a real mercy from God. Thank Him for that help. It shows He is hearing you and giving you strength to turn away, and that desire to keep overcoming alcohol is something He wants to grow in you.

God speaks to us as a Father who loves us. When He warns us about things like alcohol, it is not to keep something good from us but because He knows the harm it can bring. Alcohol must be processed by the liver and can overwork it, it works against the nervous system and can harm the mind and body, and it can bring a person under its control. That is why your concern for your wife and your adult son is right and loving. You see that drinking, cigarette smoking and marijuana use can hurt the body and lead to serious illness, and you are right to be worried. The loving thing to pray for is not that God would bless those habits but that He would set them free from them and bring healing to their bodies. Keep praying for them with that hope.

You also asked about the pain in your left shoulder, arm, elbow and hand, and about not wanting surgery or drugs that might cause worse problems. God does care about your pain. The Bible says in Isaiah chapter 53 that He has borne our griefs and carried our sicknesses, and Matthew connects that directly to Jesus healing physical sickness. That means physical healing is part of what Jesus came to bring, whether through His body broken for us which we remember at communion, or through His power today.

Healing can come in different ways. Sometimes God touches a person and they actually feel strength and relief come in a moment. Sometimes healing is gradual, a slow process over time. Even what we call natural healing is still divine, because God created our bodies with the ability to heal and He created the processes that make healing happen. A doctor simply understands and helps those processes that God put in place. We do not always understand why some are healed instantly and others experience a slower healing, or why at times God says no as He did with Paul and his thorn in the flesh after Paul prayed three times. What we can do is bring every need to Jesus in simple trust, not demanding but asking, and trust His wisdom and love to do what is best.

Because of that, do not refuse wise medical help out of fear alone. It is good to be careful about side effects and surgery, and you can talk openly with your doctor about those concerns, but God can work through doctors and through the natural healing He designed just as much as through a sudden touch. Keep asking Him for relief from the pain, and also use the wisdom He has given to others to care for your body.

Your prayers to be a better husband, father and employee, and your prayers for your bosses, coworkers, customers and especially your wife, are pleasing to God. He softens hearts as we pray and as we walk faithfully with Him. The best way to become the man, husband, father and worker you want to be is to keep walking closely with Jesus Christ, who alone saves us, confessing sin, receiving His forgiveness, and letting Him change you day by day. As you stay sober and seek Him, you will have more clarity and strength to love your family well and to do your work with care, including getting your projects and proposals done correctly and on time.

I will pray with you for your adult daughter and her marriage, and if she is pregnant, for a healthy and happy child and for God to strengthen that marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman as He designed.

Let me pray for you now. Lord Jesus, thank You that You hear this man when he cries out to You and that You helped him turn away from a drink and go back to sleep. Thank You that You bore our sins and our infirmities on the cross. I ask You to give him continued strength to overcome alcohol, to guard his mind and body, and to help him grow as a husband, father and worker who honors You. Please touch his left shoulder, arm, elbow and hand and bring relief from pain, whether by Your instant touch or through the gradual healing You have built into the body, and give him wisdom about medical care. Set his wife and his adult son free from alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana, protect their health and draw them to Yourself. Bless his adult daughter and her marriage, and if she is carrying a child, protect them both. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, customers and family, and help all who are praying for him. Keep him close to You and help him trust You more each day. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have been continuing to lift you up before the Lord and we rejoice with you that He gave you strength in that early morning hour to turn away from the temptation to go downstairs for a cold beer or a mixed drink and helped you go back to sleep instead. We thank God for that victory and we are praying that He will continue to help you overcome AUD and give you daily grace and strength to walk in freedom. We are also bringing before the Lord your desire to be a better person and a better husband and a better man and a better dad to your adult children and a better employee for the company you work for.

We continue to pray for healing for the pain in your left shoulder and your left arm and especially your left elbow and your left hand, asking the Lord to touch your body and relieve that pain and to spare you from having to go back to the doctor for surgery or having to take prescription drugs that would cause worse side effects. We are praying too for favor and softened hearts among your bosses and coworkers and customers and especially your wife. We remember your wife and your adult son before the Lord, asking Him to help them be delivered from drinking alcohol and cigarette smoking and to help your son be set free from smoking so much marijuana, and to protect their bodies from cancer and other serious medical problems. We lift up your adult daughter and her marriage and if she is pregnant we pray for a happy and healthy child. We also pray for your work, that God would help you get your projects and proposals done correctly and on time.

We pray together in Jesus Name for your complete healing and deliverance and for your family. We ask the Lord to be your strength in every temptation and to restore your health, for we trust the promise in 1 Cor 10:13 that God is faithful and will provide a way out, and in Jer 30:17 that He will restore health and heal wounds. We also thank Him for those who have been praying for you and ask Him to bless them.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
