Good morning dear God it's me again asking for help! I woke up early this morning with a terrible idea of going down stairs to either have a cold beer or to make a JB and sprite like I did ### days ago. Thank you for helping me to go back to sleep. Please remove the pain in my Left shoulder and my left arm and especially on my Left elbow and my Left hand. I don't want to have to go back to see My doctor and I don't want to have a surgery but if rather do that then to suffer with the pain and I refuse to take a prescription drug that could give me worse side effects than the pain in my body. Please continue to help me overcome my AUD and please help me be a better person and a better husband and a better man and a better dad to our adult kid's and a better employee to help the company that I work for. Please help those who have been praying for me. Please continue to soften the hearts of my bosses and my coworkers and my customers and especially my wife. Please help my wife and our adult son with their drinking of alcohol and cigarette smoking and my adult son who still smokes too much pot. I know that it's hurting their body and I am worried that it could give them a cancer or serious medical problems. Please help our adult daughter with her marriage and if she is pregnant please help her have a happy and healthy child. Please help me get my projects and proposals done correctly and on time and thanks again for your help. I love you Jesus Christ my lord and Savior 🙏. Amen

We thank you for sharing your heart so honestly with us and with the Lord, and we join with you in prayer in Jesus' name. We rejoice that when that terrible idea came to you early this morning to go downstairs for a cold beer or a JB and Sprite as you did days ago, the Lord helped you to turn away and go back to sleep. That is a victory, and it is evidence that God is at work in you.

The Word tells us, Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. We also read Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. Your struggle with AUD is real, and drunkenness and intoxication from alcohol and marijuana are sin against God and harm to the body which He calls His temple. Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We lovingly rebuke the use of alcohol to excess and the use of pot, both in your own life and in the lives of your wife and your adult son, and we urge you all to pursue sobriety and self-control which is part of the fruit of the Spirit, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. We encourage you to keep making that way of escape, to stay accountable in your church, to seek godly counsel and fellowship, and to remember I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me Philippians 4:13.

We also lift up the pain in your left shoulder, left arm, left elbow and left hand. We understand your desire to avoid surgery and your concern about prescription drugs and side effects, and we encourage you with wisdom. The Lord is our healer who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3, and He often uses physicians and wisdom He has given them, for Luke was called the beloved physician Colossians 4:14. We pray for healing while also encouraging you not to refuse wise medical help out of fear, but to steward your body well and seek counsel you can trust. The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective James 5:16.

We hear your desire to be a better man, a better husband, a better dad to your adult kids, and a better employee. God honors that desire. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25 and Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. As you seek to honor God at work and at home, He will soften hearts as you have asked, for we know that a gentle answer turns away wrath Proverbs 15:1 and that God can turn the heart of others toward peace.

We join you in praying for your wife and your adult son who are drinking and smoking cigarettes, and for your son who still smokes too much pot. We agree with your concern that these things harm the body and can lead to cancer and serious medical problems, and we pray they will also desire sobriety and wholeness in Christ. We pray for your adult daughter and her marriage, that God would strengthen and guard that covenant as He designed marriage to be a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and if she is pregnant, we pray for that precious life. You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb Psalm 139:13 and we ask for a happy and healthy child.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and we thank You that our brother called upon that name, for there is no other name by which we are saved and have access to Your throne. We thank You for the victory You gave him this morning to resist the drink and to sleep, and we ask You to continue to deliver him from AUD and from every craving. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and give him self-control day by day. Lord, we ask You to touch his left shoulder, arm, elbow and hand, remove this pain according to Your mercy, and grant him wisdom regarding doctors, treatment and work. Give him strength to get his projects and proposals done correctly and on time for Your glory. Help him to be the husband and father and employee You have called him to be, loving his wife as Christ loves the church, leading his family with grace and truth. Soften the hearts of his bosses, coworkers, customers and especially his wife, and bring conviction and healing to his wife and adult son regarding alcohol, cigarettes and marijuana, that they may turn to You for freedom and health. Bless his adult daughter's marriage, make it strong in You, and if she carries a child, we ask You to knit that child together perfectly and grant a safe and joyful birth. Bless all who have been praying for him and draw this whole family closer to Jesus. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We are so thankful you wrote to us so honestly this morning. Waking up early with that strong pull toward a beer or a ### and Sprite and choosing to go back to sleep instead is a hard-won victory. We thank God with you for that help in the moment, and for the way you want to keep growing as a husband, dad, and employee.

We hear how heavy the pain in your left shoulder, arm, elbow and hand has been, and how much you dread another doctor visit, surgery, or medication with difficult side effects. Alongside prayer, we would gently encourage you to stay in touch with your doctor about that ongoing pain and to share those exact concerns openly, so you can make wise decisions together about next steps. You do not have to carry that worry alone.

We also hear your deep love for your family, your worry about your wife and adult son with alcohol and smoking, your son's use of pot, and your hopes for your daughter's marriage and possible pregnancy, plus the pressure of projects and proposals at work. It is a lot to hold.

One steady next step that helps many is not trying to face the pull toward alcohol alone. Consider reaching out this week to one trusted person, a pastor, counselor, or a recovery support group in your area, and being honest about the early morning urges. Having someone to call in that moment can make a real difference.

Father, we lift this brother to You. Ease his pain and guide his care, strengthen him each time temptation comes, and help him walk faithfully at home and at work. Draw his wife, son and daughter close to You, protect their health and guide their steps, and soften hearts at work and at home. Give him wisdom for each project before him. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer in the early watches of the morning is a hopeful sign, for it shows a soul that still looks to Jesus Christ when temptation draws near. To wake with the old thirst upon you and then to be kept from yielding and to find grace to return to sleep instead of to the cup, this is no small mercy. Give thanks for it, and take courage from it, for He who kept you in that hour is able to keep you in the next.

You ask for healing in your left shoulder and arm, in the elbow and the hand, and you confess your fear of the physician and of the knife, and your dread of remedies that may bring worse evils. It is right to care for the body, for it is the Lord's, and we very speedily care for bodily diseases when they pain us. Yet remember what the Scripture says, that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, and not only His fruit but even His leaves, the least things about Him, are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. Pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the man sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. So come first for forgiveness through His blood, and then look for healing as it pleases His wisdom to bestow it, whether by His immediate hand or by the wise use of means which He has provided. Despise not the physician if the Lord should direct you to him, for the Lord often works by instruments, but trust not in the instrument. Trust in the Sun of Righteousness who has risen with healing in His wings.

You also ask to overcome your bondage to strong drink, and to be made a better man, a better husband, a better father and a better servant in your daily labour. This desire to minister and to walk uprightly always arises out of healing. When Christ heals, the soul rises to serve Him. Yet hear this word for your comfort, recovery is often a slow process. You know how it is with our bodies, if we suffer long from illness, when the pain is gone there is a dreadful weakness left and we require time to regain strength. The weakened limbs only recover strength by slow degrees. You may crush in a moment, but you cannot so speedily cure. Wonder not if recovery should be slow. The Lord has said, I will strengthen them in the Lord, and that strength will come little by little as you acknowledge in each increase that the Lord has a new claim upon your affection. You must turn over a new leaf, or rather you must get a taste of the leaves of the tree which are for the healing of the nations, so that you may revive out of decline. Keep close to Christ in His Word, for faith comes by hearing, and healing was present when Christ was teaching. Let the Word dwell in you, and shun the haunts and habits that have so multiplied temptation, and seek the fellowship of sober and godly men who will hold you accountable.

I will pray with you and for you.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our heavenly Physician, look upon this Thy servant who cries to Thee out of temptation and pain. Forgive his sins through Thy precious blood, and let healing flow from Thy wounds to his soul and body. If it be Thy will, remove the pain from his shoulder and arm and hand, and grant him strength to labour faithfully. Keep his foot from the snare of strong drink, and give him daily victory, that he may walk as a new man in his home and in his work. Soften indeed the hearts of those about him, his wife, his fellow labourers and those he serves, but above all soften his own heart to Thy Word and make it tender to Thy will.

We ask also for his household. Have mercy upon his wife and his adult son who are ensnared by drink and smoke and by the use of that weed which clouds the mind, and grant them to see that the body is Thy temple and to turn from what harms it, lest greater sorrows follow. Draw them to repentance and to faith in Christ alone for salvation. Bless his adult daughter in her marriage, for Thou hast ordained marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and if Thou hast given her to bear a child, guard both mother and child and grant a happy and healthy birth, that the child may be raised in Thy fear.

Give Thy servant grace to do his projects and proposals correctly and on time, working as unto Thee and not unto men, and let all who have prayed for him see fruit from their prayers.

Hear this prayer, O Lord, not because we are worthy, but because Thy leaves never wither and Thy power to heal and to pardon is present still. Amen.
