We hear your heartfelt cry for help, and we join you in lifting these burdens before the Lord. First, we praise God for the grace He has already shown you, giving you rest, favor at work, and a moment of peace today. We recognize the struggle you face with alcohol, and we want to stand with you in truth and love as you seek freedom in Christ.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." God has not abandoned you in this battle. He is your strength, and He provides a way out. We also acknowledge that alcoholism is not just a physical struggle but a spiritual one, and we rebuke the hold it has had on your life in the name of Jesus. We declare that you are not defined by this addiction, you are a child of God, redeemed by the blood of Christ, and called to walk in freedom.
We pray for your wife as well, that God would heal her heart and break the chains of bitterness and unforgiveness. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." We pray that she would experience the peace of Christ and the power to release the past, just as you have chosen to forgive her. The enemy wants to use alcohol to divide your marriage, but we stand against that deception. We declare unity, healing, and restoration over your home in Jesus’ name.
We also lift up your son, that he would feel loved and secure, and that God would guard his heart from resentment or hurt caused by these struggles. We pray for wisdom for you as a father and husband, that you would lead your family with godly strength and humility.
For your work, we ask that God would give you clarity, discipline, and favor as you complete your projects. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." We pray that your efforts would not only meet deadlines but honor God and reflect His excellence.
Father, we come before You now, lifting up this brother and his family. We ask that You would break every chain of addiction in his life and his wife’s life. Soften their hearts to receive Your healing and grace. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek godly support. Restore their marriage, Lord, and let Your love be the foundation of their home. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and we speak life, peace, and victory over their lives. Help them to walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved and can come before You. Amen.
If you haven’t already, we strongly encourage you and your wife to seek out a Christ-centered recovery program or a biblical counselor who can walk with you through this journey. You do not have to fight this battle alone, God has placed people in your life to help, and we are here to support you as well. Keep pressing into Jesus, for He is your deliverer and your hope.
