We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up your struggles to our Heavenly Father. You are not alone in this battle, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will sustain you through this difficult time. The fear and physical distress you are experiencing are very real, and we know that Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome (AWS) is a serious and challenging condition. It is clear that you are seeking the Lord’s strength, and we praise God that you have turned to Him in your time of need.

First, we want to encourage you to seek medical attention if you have not already. AWS can be dangerous, and professional care is often necessary to ensure your safety. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-8, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones." God often works through doctors, counselors, and trusted believers to bring healing and support. Do not hesitate to reach out to those who can help you physically and spiritually during this time.

We also want to address the spiritual battle you are facing. The anxiety, fear, and physical symptoms you are experiencing are not just physical, they are also spiritual attacks meant to discourage and overwhelm you. The enemy wants you to feel isolated, helpless, and defeated, but we serve a God who is greater than any struggle. 1 Peter 5:7-9 reminds us, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings." You are not alone, and God has not abandoned you. He is with you, even in the midst of the shaking and sweating.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety in the name of Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." The fear you are feeling is not from God, and we command it to leave you now. We also pray for God’s peace to flood your heart and mind. Philippians 4:6-7 says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We ask the Lord to replace your anxiety with His perfect peace, which transcends all understanding.

We pray for your physical body as well. The symptoms you are experiencing are real, and we ask God to strengthen you and bring relief. Psalm 34:17-19 assures us, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." We believe that God can bring healing to your body and give you the strength to get out of bed, get dressed, and face the day. We pray that He would steady your hands, calm your nerves, and give you the energy you need to fulfill your responsibilities at work.

We also lift up your work and the pressure you feel to perform. The stress of deadlines, projects, and the expectations of others can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who is faithful to provide. Matthew 11:28-30 says, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." We pray that you would experience the rest and peace that only Jesus can give. We ask Him to give you wisdom, clarity, and focus as you work on your projects and proposals. We declare that He will help you complete them correctly and on time, not by your own strength, but by His.

We also want to encourage you to surround yourself with godly support. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up." Reach out to trusted friends, family members, or a pastor who can pray with you, encourage you, and walk alongside you during this time. You do not have to face this alone, and God often uses the body of Christ to bring comfort and strength.

Finally, we want to remind you of the hope we have in Jesus Christ. No matter how difficult this season may be, God is with you, and He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). We pray that you would fix your eyes on Him and trust in His promises. Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." We declare that God will sustain you, strengthen you, and carry you through this trial.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with the physical and emotional challenges of Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome. Lord, we know that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You save those who have a crushed spirit. We ask You to draw near to him/her now and wrap Your arms of comfort around him/her. Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that You have not given him/her a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We ask You to replace his/her anxiety with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding.

Lord, we pray for physical healing and strength. We ask You to calm the shaking and sweating, to steady his/her hands, and to give him/her the energy to get out of bed, get dressed, and face the day. We believe that You are the Great Physician, and we ask You to bring relief to his/her body. Father, we also pray for his/her work. Give him/her wisdom, clarity, and focus as he/she works on projects and proposals. Help him/her to complete them correctly and on time, not by his/her own strength, but by Yours. We declare that You will provide the rest and peace that only You can give.

Father, we ask You to surround him/her with godly support. Bring people into his/her life who will pray with him/her, encourage him/her, and walk alongside him/her during this difficult time. Help him/her to lean on You and to trust in Your promises. Lord, we know that this trial is not too great for You. We declare that You are working all things together for his/her good, and we trust in Your faithfulness. Strengthen his/her faith, and help him/her to fix his/her eyes on You.

We thank You, Father, for Your love, Your grace, and Your mercy. We thank You that You are with him/her, even in the midst of this storm. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises and to trust in His faithfulness. This trial is temporary, but God’s love for you is eternal. Keep pressing into Him, and He will see you through. You are not alone, and we are standing with you in prayer. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He make His face shine upon you, and may He give you peace.

We hear the desperation in your words, and we’re so sorry you’re carrying this much fear right now. When anxiety hits like this, sweating, shaking, dreading a wave of nausea, it can feel like your own body is betraying you. You’re not weak for struggling; you’re a person under enormous pressure, and that weight has become physical. Please know we’re holding you in prayer, not just for the symptoms, but for the courage to take one next small step.

The sensations you’re describing are real and frightening, but they’re also a signal your body is overloaded, not a sign you’re failing everyone around you. Your coworkers and clients are not depending on you alone, and your worth runs far deeper than any project deadline. Right now, God’s strength meets you right in the middle of the shaking, not only after it stops.

Because your body is giving you such clear distress signals, we’d gently encourage you to speak with a doctor or a Christian counselor about what you’re experiencing. Anxiety this intense is never something you have to white-knuckle through alone. A professional can help you sort out what’s going on and explore what brings lasting relief, whether that’s through counseling, medication, or both. There is no shame in that, many of God’s people have walked that path and found real help.

In the meantime, when the panic surges, try to anchor yourself in the present moment: notice five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear. It’s not a magic fix, but it can gently remind your nervous system that right now, in this exact breath, you are safe. And remember, even a minute at a time, you can make it through.

Let us pray with you now:

Lord Jesus, you know the weight pressing down on your child right now, the churning stomach, the racing heart, the dread that makes it so hard to even rise. Please still the storm inside. Let your peace that passes understanding settle over every cell and thought. Give strength to face this day, one small task at a time, and grant wisdom to reach out for the support that’s needed. Quiet the lie that everything depends on one person. Wrap this one in your steady presence, and guide them toward healing. In your name we ask, Amen.

The very anxiety you describe is itself a burden heavier than the work you dread. Have you not found it so? That shaking, that sweating, that terror of being sick, all this comes from fear, and fear unfits you for the duty you are called to perform. It is a thief that steals strength and a fog that blinds faith. But the Lord speaks to you even now: “Fear not, thou worm; I will help thee.” Why should you fear? The arm that piled the heavens is not palsied; the God who sustains the pillars of the earth is your God. His command is absolute: “Fear not; be not dismayed.” It is not a suggestion, but a precept, and disobedience to it dishonors the Faithful One. Doubt the Omnipotent? That is traitorous indeed.

Yet fear is not merely disobedience; it is a wound that can be healed. The Lord Jesus Himself whispers, “Fear not.” It is not the preacher’s word, but Christ’s own, and it carries power to calm the storm within. When you cry out from your inmost soul to Him, He hears. All this fretting over projects and proposals, as if the hinge of the whole universe turned upon your efforts, must be set in its true place. The work is not yours ultimately; it is entrusted to you, and you are to do it with might, yet you are not the cornerstone. Look unto Jesus, who delivers those who are in bondage through the fear of death and of life’s crushing cares. When your faith is fixed upon Him, the tyranny of dread is broken.

As for your body’s rebellion, it is but the echo of the soul’s unrest. The Lord who formed you can quiet both. Yet the deepest quiet is born of forgiveness. When you know your sins are pardoned for Christ’s sake, then a holy awe replaces servile terror. The fear of God casts out the fear of man and of circumstance. Go then to your labor, but go in His strength. The Holy Spirit works in you, yet you must also work; only, let your striving be mingled with prayer. “I need Your help,” you cry, and He will give it, for He is faithful to His promises.

Rise, therefore, from your bed. Cast this shaking and dread upon Him. If you must meet your colleagues and customers, meet them as one who knows the King of kings is your ally. Why should the heir of heaven tremble before creatures of dust? The Lord is with you. Fear not.
