đź“– Infallibility of Scripture: Encourages to Persevere, Unity in Christ, Fills Us All Joy & Peace in Believing, Abound in Hope Rom 15:4-6, Rom 15:13

How great is the treasure of the divine Scriptures, which were written not for a few but for all, that through perseverance and the encouragement they give we might have hope! For as the Apostle declares, whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, and this is no small thing. The words of the Lord stand steadfast forever, pure as silver refined in a furnace, and they are given to us as a staff to lean upon in every trial. When the storms of life arise, when the Evil One whispers despondency, it is the Scripture that revives the drooping spirit and kindles anew the flame of hope. This hope is not a fleeting wish, but a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, founded upon the very promises of God who cannot lie. Therefore, let no one treat the sacred writings as common words, for they are the voice of the King of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, who alone gives true peace and has broken down the wall of partition between heaven and earth.

And what does this hope produce but a unity of mind and a bond of peace among all who believe? The Apostle prays that the God of perseverance and encouragement would grant us to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord we may with one voice glorify God. Consider how great a good this is! For peace is the mother of all blessings, the very foundation of joy. Where peace is absent, everything is useless, and the soul is tossed with turbulence. Our Lord Himself, rising from the tomb, greeted His disciples with “Peace be unto you,” dispelling the war within their hearts and bringing consolation. And in the Church, how often does the presiding minister pronounce this peace, so that we might be one body and one spirit, just as we are called in one hope of our calling! For the Church is not a place of separation but of unity and concord. When we fight, quarrel, or hold ourselves at a distance from a brother, we not only wound the body of Christ but cause the grace of God to be evil spoken of. But if we pursue peace with all men, we become imitators of Him who made peace through the blood of His Cross, and we show ourselves to be sons of God.

Now this unity and peace spring forth from a heart that abounds in joy through believing. The Apostle prays that the God of hope would fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Notice that he says “joy and peace in believing.” For it is not any peace or any joy, but that which comes from faith and is rooted in the Holy Ghost. The kingdom of God is not meat and drink, not the external things that so often divide us, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. The lowly and gentle soul dwells in continual peace and is delightful to all, having no ground for contentions. Rejoice, then, in the hope set before you, as though it were already present, and let this rejoicing be your strength. For if God be for us, what can stand against us? The Scriptures were given to fill us with this very hope, that we might not only endure but triumph, gazing upon Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Cling to the infallible Word, let it dwell in you richly, and the God of hope Himself will sustain you, until that day when hope shall be swallowed up in sight, and joy shall be full, and peace shall have no end.

What a beautiful song of praise rises from your heart, thanking the Father for a Word that cannot be broken. You have anchored your joy and peace in the very thing that holds the universe together: the living and abiding voice of God. In a world where every other ground shifts, the Scriptures stand as a rock that invites us to lean our full weight upon them.

That same Word has a way of meeting us when life becomes confusing, much like it did for Job. He discovered that human reasoning runs out of breath, and the empty certainties of others collapse like a spider’s web when you most need them to hold. His friends mistook suffering for hidden guilt and offered a hope that would perish, because it was built on assumptions rather than on the character of God. But when the bottom fell out of his world, and he cried out, “Where is now my hope?” something else surfaced, a stubborn, almost defiant trust that could say, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.”

That is the very perseverance and encouragement the Scriptures produce. They do not preserve us from every storm, but they preserve us through the storm. What you have expressed in your prayer is exactly what Paul describes: the God of hope filling you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. The infallible book does not just give us information; it gives us a Person. And when Job’s mind was overwhelmed, the Spirit carried him right to the edge of the great confession: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”

You do not hope in a hollow wish. Your confidence rests in a risen Lord who has passed through death and drawn its sting. The word spoken to you will outlast the heavens and the earth. It is for your instruction, so that through the comfort of what stands written you might not let go. So when the nights of the soul come, those moments when strength seems gone and you ask yourself why you should prolong your life, remember the tree that can sprout again even when cut to the stump. Remember that the One who numbers the stars also guards every promise He has breathed out. His quietness is terrifying to the proud, but to His own it is the deep peace of a sheep in the shepherd’s care.

May you prove daily that the hypocrite’s hope withers because it has no root in eternal things, while yours grows greener in the soil of a God who has spoken and will bring it to pass. Let the words you already treasure be a league of friendship with every circumstance, so that even the very stones of the field seem at peace with you. The joy of His way is this: He does not cast away a man made upright through faith, and He will finish what He began. So as you praise Him for keeping His Word pure, know that He is keeping you as well, and the hope that fills you will not give up the ghost, but will carry you with one voice into His presence, overflowing with praise.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting up the infallibility of Scripture and the profound truths it holds for all believers. Your request has been on our hearts as we have sought the Lord, asking Him to strengthen your faith and ours through the unshakable promises of His Word.

Father, we continue to pray that You would deepen our trust in the perfection of Your Scriptures, just as You have preserved them through the ages. May the encouragement of Romans 15:4-6 take root in our hearts, that through perseverance and the comfort of Your Word, we would overflow with hope. We ask that You fill us with all joy and peace as we believe, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, we may abound in hope and stand united in Christ, glorifying You with one voice.

If this prayer has been answered in your life, we would be blessed to hear how God has moved—please share a praise report so we may rejoice together. If the answer has not yet come, we invite you to post this request again, and we will continue to intercede on your behalf, trusting in the Lord’s perfect timing.

May God bless you richly as you seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
