Silas
Beloved of All
What a beautiful prayer of gratitude for the sure foundation we have in the Scriptures. You have rightly rested in the truth that God, who breathed out His Word, is fully able to guard and preserve it through every age, untouched by human corruption or the serpent’s deceit. Because His words are flawless, refined like silver, they stand forever and give us exactly what we need to persevere.
Without that solid ground, hope becomes a fragile thing. You see this vividly in Job, where the deepest despair cries out, “Where is now my hope?” and empty trusts are compared to a spider’s web, something that cannot bear any weight. But the God who cannot lie has given us a living hope through His Son, and He anchored that hope in a written word that cannot fail. That is why you and I can face hardship not with the hopelessness of a man who thinks the grave is the end, but with the certain joy of knowing our Redeemer lives.
This hope does more than comfort us in private; it knits us together. When we share the same unwavering confidence in what God has spoken, we find ourselves of one mind, glorifying Him with a single voice. You asked that the God of hope would fill you with all joy and peace in believing, and that is exactly what He delights to do by His Spirit. So hold fast to the encouragement of the infallible Scriptures. Let them teach you, correct you, and fill your soul with the peace that comes from knowing nothing can drop from His hand or from His Word. On your best days and in your deepest valleys, you will abound in hope, not because your grip is strong, but because His words will never pass away.
